I shoulda listened when my peeps over at Latina (Yuli Yul) told me bout these cats but I didn’t. Still since she’s told me about The Dey they have been coming up with showcases and a growing fan base. Goya went to a Dey showcase last week in NYC and I bounced early and missed them. Yea, I’m a scumbag. Finally I heard “Get The Feeling†and I’m a believer.
The Dey is comprised of one chick Élan and two dudes, Divine and Yeyo. Think Fugees ala Latino minus the chick buggin…well at least not yet. They’re a bilingual trio that combines hip-hop, R&B, pop, and Afro-Latino sounds for a singing/rapping music. Even tastemaker/master producer Timbaland has taken notice. Taking a break from helping galletas get soul he’s produced The Dey’s single “Get The Feeling.†Shoot they even got JR Rotem on their debut. Peep the singles below.
