The big homie Omar Cruz is making some big ass connects. Just straight off of love and talent. While he’s still toling away on his debut, Sign of the Cruz, it seems like he’s got studio time with The Game. My frustration with Fabolous’ lack of aspiration to become a better artist might come to an end if Nothin to Something (due June 12) sounds like all the singles he’s dropping. Unfortunately it’s hosted by dumbass Sway but it’s still a good listen with joints by Pit and EFN’s artist Garcia (I’m telling ya duke is nice). Don Omar is a bit classier than most I think. Compared to other reggaetoneros (take Tego out of it, he’s in a class all by himself) DO always takes time to focus on other topics. Other items that don’t focus on ass or ass or more ass. Check his new video for “Adios.”

You know it’s good to see Nore back to his rap roots. He does a good job on “Cocaine Cowboys.” But of course I got a gripe. Why do they always gotta bring that drug/Colombia relationship? Not just NO but every motherfunker on the planet. My wife es de Colombia and that shit runs in my blood too so it’s so not cool. Like we get it some Colombians acted like spics in the past but doesn’t every country have their blemishes? Whatever the case, good track, tired of Colombian drug cliché but NO is back. Props are in order for the big homie Pitbull. I gotta admit I was a bit suspect when I heard he was gonna have a Mun2 series but when I peeped Pitbull's La Esquina last week I was pleasantly surprised. It was only the first show but it was funny, different and very spicish. Me like. Check it tonight at 10 PM on Mun2.

So you say Interscope is a monopoly. Yes, sure but isn’t everything else in this country. Believe it’s even worse in outside the U.S. So when Daddy Yankee signed with Fiddy’s home it came to no surprise. No worries either. DY went platinum before he even signed with Interscope. He’s just a smart businessman. You need to hook up with the only ones selling to, well, sell. Check what DY told me about his relationship, so far, with the gargantuan record label.

Word is that lil’ Tito El Bambino is signing on to be a spokesman for Colgate. I know this is a good thing for reggaeton and we should support it. But sometimes the products are kinda corny but it could be worse (remember Ice Cube pushing St. Ides).

Yesterday I caught up for a hot minute with the hottest chick doing reggaeton. Fresh off being FHM’s most desired women in the world, Mayra is prepping to re-release her album, Vengo Con To, in July or August. The album has four new tracks produced by Nely La Arma Secreta. Aside from that she’s also working on her video for “Mama Mia” and her English debut.

So y’all heard yesterday that Island Def Jam is laying off 40 staff members including the entire Roc La Familia camp. Was it really a surprise? Nah. It’s been a rocky road ever since Aztek got the boot. And Def Jam noticed that Tru Life is an angry individual and can be marketed in a lot of ways including as a Latino. Another corporate failure for the Jiggman.

The other day I checked in with the big homie from Cali, Omar Cruz. He let me know he’s hard at work on his Interscope/BYI debut, Sign of the Cruz, told me about his respect for the best Latin to go platinum and also what separates him from the new batch of Latino MCs. Peep the new Daddy Yankee video for “Impacto (Remix)” featuring Ms. Buttahface Fergie. The song is catchy and I think I’ve figured how Yankee has so much success. Duke names his song titles so that non-Latinos can say it with ease. “Gasolina,” “Rompe,” “Impacto,” good pattern. Anyway check the voice-synthesized glory that is “Impacto.”

Dem Calle 13 dudes keep on uniting Latin America with their sounds. This past Saturday in México City, Mexico they bombarded ¡Vive Latino!, a rock festival. They had rockeros digging their joints like “Atrévete-te-te” and “Tango del Pecado.” And even among 60 other acts at the concert, Calle 13 still rocked the hell out of the stage (word to KRS).

Palabra is Wisin y Yandel are working with some high caliber guests. First off there is a WYY and Don Omar album in the works as a trio. That should be full of club anthems. Omar and Yandel on one track singing their asses off . . . I can only imagine the panties dropping in the club.

Remember when Tony Toca was the end all, be all of the mixtape game? Well, ya should. Touch has been doing rap for a minute and reggaeton just as long. Check the new track, “We Run NY” feat. Yesterday Mr. Carne, Tru Life said the realest shit he’s prolly ever said. His camp released a statement to xxlmag.com saying that he did punch Cam’ron and that he’s sorry for all the negative press. But that’s not it.

I really don’t know what it is about Don Francisco and making reggaetoneros cry. Is it the contract before they agree to do the show? Last night on Univision’s Don Francisco Presenta it was Hector El Father’s turn to weep.
