Daddy Yankee's Pint-Sized Protege

I don’t know how I feel about child entertainers. Let’s face it they’re, more often than not, pushed into show biz by their parents and their career and childhood are both finished before they know it. Hip-hop has done it (Chi Ali, Bow Wow, Kris Kross) and now reggaeton is following suit with seven-year-old Migueltio.

The kid has an obvious talent for ‘Ton and is being mentored by Daddy Yankee, who signed the little boricua to his El Cartel Records imprint. Miguelito’s “Montalo” song is getting some play throughout the States and has many times opened up for El Cangri. His debut album, Mas Grande Que Ti, was engineered by DJ Memo and features Lennox, Tingui and Gold 2. It’s out on Dec. 19. But still the question remains: should he have waited until he was a teen? Whatever the case, God bless. He’s got two things going for him: a growing talent and Daddy Yankee.

Now, remember when earlier this week when I told y’all about Beyoncé making a Spanish version of “Irreplaceable?" well, word is she’s collaborating with Shakira to make beautiful music. The song is called "Beautiful Liar" and that’s all we got so far.

Shak had these to say on univision.com about the collabo:

“Yes, we’re working on a song she wrote and hopefully we’ll be able to record. I’m really excited because she’s an artist I respect and love very much. For her to share a song that she wrote me halaga mucho, she’s a woman of a lot of sentiments.”

  • These kids should be banned from doing records. They get no respect from me cause theres always doubt as to wether they wrote what they spit, they usualy don't know what theyre nothin talkin about, they got no rasp in thier voice so they usualy sound annoying and whatever happened to kid that was on luny tunes - la trayectoria. Their should be a min. age in music especially in reggaeton of at least 16. Most of the reggaeton artist started out young but not this young las guanabanas were the only exception and they barely got a two good songs and one of em thanks to Yankee but that was only allowed before when everybody in reggaeton was less than 21.

    Beyonce is after that cheddar on her grind it's not good enough to go platinum in english? She wants to get payback for shakira takin some of her sales.

  • I really like daddy yankes music partly because they play it down here so much.However kids need to have a porper childhood.So they can be stable young adults.I mean look at child actors like lindsey lohan and singers like micheal jackson they aboviosly did not get a proper childhood. As a child mostly because their parents were to busy trying to make a dollar.

  • Also I think I heard the beautiful liar song on conreateloop.But I hated it.The theme of the song is great ,vocals cool, but flow no.I honestly do not think she should tap into the latin market.She should stick to what she knows.But it just shows that powers that be are understading the empact hispanics are having on consumer goods.

  • Honestly child stars all turn out messed up in then end. Lindsey Lohan, Micheal Jackson, and many others all have gone crazy or get into the drug use very hard. I would much rather this kid learn producin and business while he' syoung and then start spittin when he gets older like 17 or so. As far as Shakira and Beyonce all I can hope for is mad culos shakin in that video. Add a Vida Guerra to that video and its a wrap. By the way cop that Cocorocos CD. That thing was bangin. Especially the song "Los Gorditos". I can relate to that one personally. Holla mi gente.

    As for Miguelito, ladies and gents, let that little man (or his parents shoud I say)make as much money as they possibly can off the Reggaeton genre and music industry.

    If Migueltio chooses to follow in the footsteps of Bow Wow, he could become someday not only an established artist, actor, but also (and most importantly) a multi-millionaire.

    As for children being a part of Reggaeton, Miguelito is not the first.

    Need I remind you all about (now bankrupt) record label UBO's group, "Reggaeton Ninos", who were able to achieve chart-topping success with their two albums.

    The whole group was composed of kids ages 7, 9, 10 & 11.

    At the end of the day, this all comes down to the kid achieving his dream, his parents helping him, and Daddy Yankee (and all parties) profiting from it all.

    Re: Beyonce & Shakira - It comes to no surprise that B' decided to pick Shaki' as her partner on a new track.

    I mean think about it, who can get on a stage together with B' when it comes to performing the (future) song at an awards show.

    Thalia, Paulina Rubio, or Ivy Queen?

    Or....

    Shakira.

    People, it's all about moving units.

    It doesn't matter if it is in English, Spanish or Chinese.

    Beyonce and Columbia/Sony are behind that paper.

    I think the artist you are referring to is "Yo-seph" who was on the album, "La Trayectoria", track #7 called "Lo Mio". Which by the way was the first song Yo' ever recorded while he was only 11 years old. He is also on the album "Los Benjamins".

    Yo-seph who is signed to Mas Flow (Luny Tunes label) will be releasing his album "Yo-seph - The One" in 07'.
