Latinos Stand Up!

DJ Kazzanova & His Superfriends Fly High

When it comes to helping reggaeton grow as a movement, those on the mic aren’t the only ones responsible for its universal expansion. DJ Kazzanova, of NYC’s La Kalle 105.9 FM (the most listened-to reggaeton station in the U.S.), has been spreading the ‘ton movement for a hot minute now.

His radio programs can be heard throughout the world (from Brooklyn to Australia) and his innovative reggaeton remixes for Gwen Stefani, Usher, Alicia Keys, Celia Cruz, and LL Cool J have brought a new spin to the genre. Now with his Machete Music release, Reggaeton Mix, Kazz is about to add artists to his already stacked resume of radio personality, remixer and producer. On it, he puts together reggaeton’s tightest mix of club bangers courtesy of Rakim y Ken Y, Alexis y Fido, Tito El Bambino, Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Ivy Queen, and Nicky Jam. Make sure to check it out tomorrow (Nov. 21) when it drops.

For more info check him out at djkazzanova.com or myspace.com/djkazzanova

Also, props to Don Omar and Wisin Y Yandel. Omar is now one of the featured artists in the Cingular Sounds Live Wireless Latin music library. You can download exclusive interviews, concert performances, wallpapers, ringtones or even his entire album, King of Kings. And to WYY for having a Top 50 Billboard debut with their new album, Los Vaqueros.

  • Sup Goya & readers,

    Shout outs to DJ Kazzanova for repping us Latino's on a daily basis.

    But also special shout outs to other DJ's representing us on an international level also such as DJ L Boggz (catch him on MTV 3res), DJ Creme (who use to be Kazzanova's partner), DJ Camilo, DJ Alex Sensation, and others.

    Also, here are some nielsen soundscans #'s for ya:

    Luny Tunes and Tainy's "Mas Flow: Los Benjamins," has sold 80,000 copies (damn, that is not even gold),

    Wisin y Yandel Presentan: Los Vaqueros," which has sold 26,000 copies since its November 7 release;

    My bet is that W&Y will outsell Luny Tunes by this week.

    Last but not least, check out a post I have on a new Reggaeton album titles, "Los Cocorocos", this album is fire, it has Gilberto Santa Rosa (which I interviewed, check out the podcast soon), Tego Calderon, Don Omar, Zion, and more.

    Peace!
