I woke up this morning with incredible feelings of hope and satisfaction. For the first time in my life time young African-Americans all across this country have a leader they can look up to who isn't a rapper or musician. And no, I am not disrespecting the thousands of great public intellectuals that work hard for this country everyday. But let's be real, a lot of leaders don't have the same swagger or influence that Barack Obama has.
Of course, I am not foolish enough to think that Obama is perfect. Because he's not. He is far less progressive on the issues that are most important to the hip-hop generation. After all, he said very little about gun violence, racial discrimination and police brutality during his campaign. But that's alright. I truly believe that Obama understands that he is the servant of the people who will have to bend and adjust to the will of his constituents.
With that being said I hope that our people have enough political sophistication to keep pushing and fighting in the electoral process. Without us Obama would have never won, we have to take credit for that!!
please dont put barrack obama and swagger in the same sentence
"Gun violence, racial discrimination and police brutality" have been around BEFORE Hip-Hop.
Everything you mention should be handle by people's parents. Not the government.
i agree with barrackobama.
