Well at least according to Bill Heinzelman.
The homie Bill put together a list of the top 11 most political rappers. I guess he figured it's close to election time and everyone needs to get their political bars up.
I am not sure what I think about the list. I think he is headed
in the right direction, but I think he could have added more
contemporary "conscious" artists like Lauryn Hill, Mos Def, Talib,
Common, etc. I also think that he dropped the ball by not adding more
gangsta rappers like Scarface and Tupac. I for one am a lot more
inspired by the street consciousness of Houston's finest than say a
super back pack nerd like Mr. Lif. But then again I grew up in
Milwaukee and I am not really sure where Bill grew up.
So check out Bill's list and tell me what you think:
This dude Bill needs to MOVE ON!
Poor Righteous Teachers? Paris? Chuck D? KRS-One. These niggas are LONG gone. And for those that are still around, they haven't said anything ON RECORD that was worth repeating in the last decade.
No mention of Papoose? Joel Ortiz? Styles P? SMH.
Nice to see your blog taking comments again!
