So if you come to this blog regularly you know that I talk a lot of ish. And it's not because I'm not a serious dude. I know better than most that we got a long way to go if we are truly going to bring about change in this country. I just like to have fun when I write...I'm selfish like that. But even sometimes I gotta stop talking mess and give you the real talk, especially when it comes to people trying to steal votes from poor people.
Check it out. The New York Times is reporting today that thousands of college students in Virgina have been told that they could lose their scholarships and health insurance if they register to vote. I mean, talk about f*ckery. And they weren't told this BS by a random Republican, they were actually given this false information by the local registrars office aka the people that govern elections at the local level. Sheeezus!!!
Read the quote from the Times:
Late last month, as a voter-registration drive by supporters of Senator Barack Obama was signing up thousands of students at Virginia Tech, the local registrar of elections issued two releases incorrectly suggesting a range of dire possibilities for students who registered to vote at their college. The releases warned that such students could no longer be claimed as dependents on their parents' tax returns, a statement the Internal Revenue Service says is incorrect, and could lose scholarships or coverage under their parents' car and health insurance.
Of course, voter suppression tactics like this aren't new. Every election cheating bast*rds on both side of the isle leak false information like this to disenfranchise voters, especially new voters and voters from the inner city. One time when I was knocking doors in the hood in Milwaukee and actually was given a flyer that said that you couldn't vote if you had parking tickets. (Hell, if that were the case I would never be able to vote; for some reason the man loves giving me parking tickets. It's prolly because I'm light skinnded.) Of course, the fools that handed us the flyer didn't like that we flipped their tactics into a national news story about election rights!
At the end of the day the only reason why people do this type of stuff is because they know how powerful voting is. I know that most of ya'll get it. After all, you wouldn't spend time posting comments here if you didn't understand that there is strength in numbers. But we can't just stop with the Internet. We are really going to have to work hard if there is going to be change in this country. After all the most committed person usually wins. How committed are you? Let me know what you plan to do to make sure that your folks turn out to vote.

Remind the people of the election of 2004, specifically Florida..Repukes were trying and saying anything they can to wash out the minority vote..and to also let them know that the supreme court actually decided the winner..If the election is close again, well then you know the rest of the story..
I plan on taking the day off of work, although with five kids I can't really afford to, but I am going around that day and if I see anyone that is registered to vote and is able to, and have not yet voted, I will give them a ride to go do so. I am that dedicated. I am also starting a newsletter in my community to state all those political blunders that you've just stated. I want any injustice to be posted, printed and brought to everyone who is willing to know to the forefront. We need to get this out there. This is not the only one, we need to let Felons who have an interest in obtaining their voting privileges back get info on how to do so. We have to work just as hard if not harder than the others to get our country back in good standing. I don't care about attacks on character, leadership stances and past endeavors. What I care about is my children's future and mines too. Once my kids get out of the house, I want to be able to have a good life with my husband and be able to take care of ourselves and our grands when that time comes. That's why I am voting for OBAMA. And I will make sure everyone I know will too.
If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times; BLACK folks need to SPLIT YOUR VOTES. You wanna know why the Repubs don't respect us? You wanna know why the Democrats don't respect us? You wanna know why the rest of the free world laughs at the BLACK man? It's because we are the only race of people who'll put MOST of our political eggs into one basket. And I could really care less where each of you stand politically. But, for us to vote for one political party 94% of the time, each time, is really pathetic and sad.
Shit has been bad for the BLACK man for many moons. And we're quick to blame whomever's in charge at the current momemt. How many election cycles are we gonna believe politicians who say that shit is gonna get better for us if we vote for them? How many times are we gonna allow politicians who preach "seperation of church and state," only to see those same politicians in our BLACK churches giving stump speeches? BLACK folks who mainly vote for one party is like a football team leaving their playbook open for all to see. We get SACKED everytime. We throw an INTERCEPTION everytime. We lose everytime. Just look at the news. The BLACK vote is not even in play. It's the White WOMAN's vote that's in question. Our votes should be in question. The media should be wondering how the BLACK man is gonna vote. But, leave it to the relatives of SAMBO to always show their hands. We'll get this shit right one day.
i think the republicans are scared obama has a cult. i'm going to be pissed if florida messes up this time cause i live here and he's pretty popular here. so if mccain win i know it's some BS
MzVirgoLuv....I applaud you.....
Is there any proof that republicans were behind this?
Hey, who ever wrote this article, do you know how many times elections have been robed?
no matter how many numbers gather up for the candidate you want, at the end of the day u know what u dont even know if your vote was counted, you have no way to find out, we should all know by now its not the voters who decide but who counts the vote, either way none of these 2 candidates is gonna make the 418 billion dollar deficit disappear or make inflation stop and the dollar getting shot to shit, there is nothing these candidates can do to stop it, its big business for builderberg for the dollar to be down, so expect it to be like this for a long time with no change.
BUILDERBEG MEMEBERS realise what that group is, do some research.
yea so if i dont vote im a loser???
heres a little eye opener for you asshole
Critics claim the Bilderberg Group promotes the careers of politicians whose views are representative of the interests of multinational corporations, at the expense of democracy.[8] Journalists who have been invited to attend the Bilderberg Conference as observers have discounted these claims, calling the conference "not much different from a seminar or a conference organized by an upscale NGO"[9] with "nothing different except for the influence of the participants."[10]
Lupillo u started out good, but your quotes poorly.
The facts: candidates are approved by a host of corporate, military and gov't stategists with global influence. if they dont want you to run, you don't run. simple as that.
The reality: voting brings you no closer to democracy than not voting. its all a mute point. you can only control the 20 ft in front and behind u. (unless they have snipers lol)
The solution: less emphasis on national elections and greater attention to local politics, where you can directly impact health, education and judicial issues.
@ Lupillo
Actually there are ways to tell if your vote counted. after every election your local commission produces a voter file that lists every person in every precinct who votes. It doesn't say who you voted for...but it does track if your vote was counted. When that is combined with exiting polling you can actually get a really good sense as to if elections are rigged or not
@ the sponsor...i agree 100% local elections are super important!!!
and the two supper candidates guess who endorses their campaigns and where they get their millions to campaign from, they get it from the same people who fund the news
private bankers and central bankers that look after their federal reserve bank.
didnt people see how ron paul just made the rest of the candidates in the debates look like regular business men.
and another thing neither obama or maccain have mentioned the illness of the 9/11 first responders that are dying of lung disease after they were told the air was safe to breath by the u.s goverment, over 50,000 fire fighters and police officers are out of jobs and goverment benefits because these current political candidates and administration have done nothing for them, not even a simple gesture of providing them with unnemployment.
this govement makes me sick america was taken from the people long time ago and sadly people are just to freaking bliind and stupid to see it.
f*ck obama and maccain
@ Lupillo305:
Then who are you gonna vote for?
none of the above, when u got one candidate as bad as the other in this two party dictatorship, with a no non of the above vote so the citizens that want to participate in the system can show that we are that we are here to vote but voting for a non confidence vote for anything.
