Yea, its like I'm tired of hearing how Obamas "just some white man in black skin" or whateva. I mean there is nothing wrong with being proud. I am proud of a black man getting nominated. I mean let's be real, its a VERY hard thing to do. Just the fact that he's black, we all know that he has to go through the "Am I black enough?" bullshit. Its like our people expect him to be "DOWN". but he can't be down with "hood" all the time. He has to get the "white" vote too. I'm voting for Obama, not because he is a BLACK man, but because he is someone I believe who can bring some change to America.

Fact: the only reason he's in this position is because the "white community" (= those not black) voted in enough numbers to elevate him past prospective democratic nominee. Earlier on, when it came time to push for Barack to get into office, black people wanted to be skeptical and cynical - asking questions of the man the wouldn't ask anyone else. Now he's in a position where he could win, and there are still those who bring up inappropriate and petty issues:

God. Let the man work. If you haven't noticed within the music industry and in business in general, those who tailor their business, tactics, and mannerisms to accommodate black people usually lose out in the end. Barack HAS to cater to those with voting power to win. Black people are too tied up in stupid philosophies (STOP SNITCHIN'...even if the serial killer's next door) to make much more of a difference than they already do. Its embarrassing and its a clear sign where black people, as a whole, have their priorities...In appearance. It's almost prophetic. The same way that blacks don't invest money into assets that'll bring them money, instead buying shit that doesn't bring them money; they expect Barack to do the same. Doing shit that won't clinch him the presidency but make him look good to his black brothers and sisters - black brothers and sisters who didn't know who the fuck he was before this election process began.
Let the man do what the hell he has to do. Please.

I'm glad that an established black academic is finally putting these high brow coons in their place. Tavis Smiley and Cornell West are the kinds of bullshit artists that people like Carter G. Woodson and James Baldwin warned us about decades ago. Tavis Smiley and Cornell West are a couple of "miseducated" negros who continually play the devil's advocate to defend black conservative beliefs. What's worse is they endorse "so called smart rappers" like Lupe Fiasco and people like him a platform to perpetuate a quasi-liberal political facade. At the end of the day, these niggas is uninformed and out of touch. They look for opportunities to strike out against other black americans in order to make themselves look like intellectuals. Well I'm a black MBA degree holder and sometime along the way, I ceased being a miseducated negro. I suggest Lupe go back to school, Cornell West spend more time with people of other beliefs, and Tavis Smiley to break down and actually read a book.

Man too much hate on Obama. I agree with CSRealist, let him do what he gotta do. America is made up of more than just white people, or black people, or whatever. He is proposing change for the good of the country, not just one race. I'm from Canada, and I personally think that if Obama becomes president, Canadians will benefit from that. Obama has good policies, and hopefully that will reflect on Canada.
