Sometimes it's hard not to be cynical about the role that some of our leaders play in our communities. After all, there is a lot of negative stuff impacting the way we live our lives and sometimes it seems like a lot of our politicians are too wrapped up in the b.s. to be effective.
But that doesn't mean that all of our leaders are bad. A lot of them fight really hard for their constituents. That's why I think we need to do a better job of respecting folks who have enough courage to step up and go to battle us for us. At the end of the day being a politician can't be an easy job.
That's why I decided to take a day off from the sh#t talking to pay respect to a fallen leader. Yesterday, Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones past away at the age of 58 from a brain hemorrhage caused by a ruptured aneurysm. Tubbs Jones was a trailblazer in the state of Ohio, and was the first black woman to represent the state in Congress.
Over the last couple of months there has been a little bit of controversy surrounding Tubbs Jones. Like several of her colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus, the long time Clintonite switched her support from HRC to Obama. But that didn't prevent the Clinton team from showing their love for the long time leader.
Quote from AP:
"The Clinton family released a statement saying Tubbs Jones was a "one-woman force for progress in our country" and that they shared a friendship with her that "deepened through every trial and challenge."
"Over the course of many years, with many ups and many downs, Stephanie was right by our side — unwavering, indefatigable," the statement said."
Hopefully the people of Ohio can find someone to replace her. If you want to know more about this powerful woman go here.
