Rick Ross - What's the Big Deal?

For some reason this isn't that big of news to me. And it's not because I've known all along that Rick Ross was a fake ass rapper. After all I did grow up in the 80's and 90's and could tell that this dude was faking when I first heard him with Trina back in the day. (I actually like his last two records though, although I think he should be banned forever for using the word Trilla.)
But I have to admit, I am a little surprised at how mad people are. I really don't know what the big deal is. I know a lot of people that work as security and prison guards. Most of them aren't all that into busting criminals chops as much as they are keeping food on their table. Because it's not like there is a whole lot of jobs in our community! I mean maybe I am old school, but you sometimes you gotta work a job you don't like to get your bread up. Selling coke can't be the only option all the time.
But at the end of the day I think the fact that he used to be a regular person actually makes his story more interesting to me. And I know some of ya'll might be mad that Ross didn't really sell coke. But at least he had contact with real cocaine dealers. A lot of these fake rappers today haven't even been to the hood. Plus you never know, maybe he got permission from the dudes he use to beat up to tell their stories.
This is getting really old. Even if the man did work as a correction officer for 18 months. Its not like he was a POLICE officer. Ya'll ain't got nothing better to do than hate on this man because he is making millions selling records. And ya'll are still working to jobs to pay child support. Get a life. Find something to talk about that makes sense like the fact that there is still to many kids who can't read or write. Or the kids parents who are so broke they can't feed them but once or at all so they can't focus in class. Or the 13 and 14 years old having babies.What happened to the role models. F**k It ya'll ain't listening.

Yes it is a big deal!! It is a big deal because 1)it goes to prove that people who buy music need to understand that because whomever their fav rapper is endorses something especially something negative or stereotypical that doesn't mean go and do that -- music consumers need to break the cycle of being sheep and learn to lead 2) I don't believe half of what these rappers say but, HE LIED - GOT CAUGHT - CALLED TRICK DADDY A SUCKA FOR SAYING THAT AND "IF HE A G THEN COME SEE ME THEN" WITHOUT EVEN VERIFYING IF TRICK EVEN SAID THAT - very UNgangsta, and many folks have bled in the street because of some "he say, she say" 3) instead of fessing up he continued to stick behind his facade, fake ass, using another REAL gangster name having image and FORSAKE the real, LEGITIMATE MUSIC GRIND that he really has worked hard, and done a lot of legwork for - understand I am from Duval Co., Jacksonville, FL - and Rick Ross has been there passing out CD's at the Silver Fox and other spots, hittin up TJ's DJ's record pool in Tallahassee and even been through a few record deals starting with the Legendary Suave House - why wouldn't he want the world to know that he put his real work in his craft and stand behind his HARD WORK, TALENT, and PERSERVERANCE as an individual finally making a success in the music game!!! Its sad that he would feel like he really has to keep this facade up or even come with it like that- is this where we are at as a HIPHOP nation??? Even JEEZY will tell you he is a Street Poet.....regardless of what he may or may not have done he has always kept it music and SHOWN where his current grind is-THE MUSIC!!! 4) In today's climate of hip hop police and secret indictments Rick Ross made himself to look like a real "INSURGENT"...lie,lie pants on fire agent wit a wire.... watch what you do, because they watching YOU!!

My problem with him is that if you had a job as an CO just say yes that is what I did at one point in my life to put food on the table period end of the situation but to say that is not me so he can live up to this rapper's image is the lamest part of it all. I think a lot of some people's problem with him is that they know he is lying about saying that's not me. I'm a real dude with a real job and I'm glad to say that if some one has a prob with that talk to me then. I have a family to take care of. Ricky could have gotten himself out of this one easily had he just been real from the gate. When the 1st pictures came out, he said they had been photoshopped and there was no way that was him. When the photo came in question, that was his moment to say, "Yeah, when I was young as hell, I worked as a corrections officer for 18 months. That shit wasn't for me so I went back to the streets." (This is where he gets to keep his street credibility). Case closed and it would have been a wrap. When he denied it, that only opened up more interest for people to investigate the claims. Now he's looking crazy cause the whole truth has come out and now people are really questioning his credibility. There are some people who might think being a C.O is like being the police. I can see how some people have that thought process, especially people that have been locked up. They're all police as far as they're concerned. But the fact is he lied, even when he had a chance to make it right. Now he's lost both, he's lost fans who don't like C.O's and he's lost a lot of people who still would have had a genuine respect for him had he kept it gangsta...

It should not be because who do people think sneaks the drugs into the prisons. Some CO's are even members of different crews, gangs or what ever you want to call it.

Personally the shits crazy. Thats why its "the rap game" instead of Hip Hop. Like I said before Ross was a CO for only eighteen months in the late nineties. Ross' most commercially successful albums (Port of Miami over FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND, TRILLA - the same) were in 2006-2008 so if it really matters, then its possible he still could be this super kingpin... and another good point I saw from another comment is that he could have been a dirty CO the whole time and broke the prison off something proper like.. .(90's slang baby!)
But it explains one thing.... we know why this BOSS shit has went to his head. hell he already contradicted himself with that 10 maybachs line.
To the author, Biko; The bottomline is that Rick Ross had an opportunity to come clean with this shit when it 1st dropped, but this big, black, Buddah belly clown chose to straight lie in an effort to not somehow damage his "street cred." I'm glad to see his ass outted because it doesn't make any sense to me that all of these rapppers feel the need to lie about who they really were before rap and who they really are now. Most of these niggas worked a regular fucking job or if they were in the streets they wasn't doing shit major at all. I'm just sick of all of these niggas feeding this bullshit to kids and hardly ever promoting anything that's of a positive nature to them on a consistant basis!!
