I hope it's over!!!! Obama wins NC and pulls even in IN!!

My favorite part of the speech starts at 12:10!

Not to sound impatient...but I hope it's over. (Click the link below to ready why)

And you can call me naive and/or idealistic, but the super extended version of the Democratic primary is really starting to leave a nasty taste in my mouth. Not only has the race between Clinton and Obama been uglier than a Tyson/Holyfield fight, but I can't stand the mainstream media's heavy handed portrayal of the Rev. Wright fiasco. Give me a break. Of all the things that we could be discussing we have to focus on one angry preacher?!. I mean, am I the only person that can't afford to drive my car to work anymore? (And I am not even going to start talking about climate change, the price of groceries, college tuition, the rising incidents of inner city violence, and/or any of the other problems that are ripping our country apart.)

That's why I hope that tonight's victory for Obama will officially close the door on the primary season. And it's not because I am the biggest Barack fan. Unlike many young voter activists I am only cautiously optimistic about Obama and his campaign. After all, we haven't heard much about any of the candidates' platforms these last several weeks.

At the end of the day, the main reason why I want the primary to be done is because I want to hold the candidates accountable to the issues that matter to me and my community. I'm sick of having to defer to the most controversial topic of the day. It's about time for the voters to be heard.

Bring on Nov 4th,

biko

    Clinton campaign retools delegate math
    By Christina BellantoniMay 6, 2008

    DURHAM, N.C. —

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign yesterday tried to redefine the delegate math for securing the Democratic presidential nomination, signaling its willingness to wage a divisive battle with front-runner Sen. Barack Obama through the summer.

Top Clinton aides said the nominee must win based on a tally that includes delegates from Florida and Michigan, which held January primaries that were disqualified by party rules.

The campaign's "Delegate Hub" Web site identifies 2,208 as the total delegates needed to be nominated, or 183 more than the threshold of 2,025 set by the Democratic National Committee's rules.

"That's what we believe is the standard for deciding this — who has the majority of the total delegates including Michigan and Florida to decide the nomination," said Clinton strategist Geoff Garin.

The Obama campaign has long accused Team Clinton of "moving the goal posts" to avoid facing the reality that it is nearly impossible for her to catch up, and his supporters in the Democratic Party's hierarchy reacted angrily yesterday to the idea that the 2,025-delegate finish line could be changed, especially because Mr. Obama is 273 delegates from reaching that magic number according to his campaign count.

"When you totally ignore the rules, letting these people change the outcome, that doesn't pass the straight-face test," Allan Katz of Tallahassee, Fla., a member of the DNC's executive committee, told The Washington Times.

"It's not just a question of changing the rules, it's ignoring the reason the [DNC's] rules committee is there, to enforce the rules.

You don't get relieved of that responsibility if you don't like the outcome," Mr. Katz said.

Mr. Garin said "neither candidate" will have the needed delegates by June 3 when the last votes are counted in South Dakota and Montana.

But Mr. Obama, should he win over a large bloc of superdelegates — elected officials and party activists who help decide the nomination — could get to 2,025 by then.

  • There's been a lot of talk about whether or not America is really ready for a black president.

    But one thing's for sure...

Ready or not, Barack Obama is coming to the White House!

  • Stick a fork in her, she's done!

She canceled her public appearances. She needed at least a 5pt win for her indiana win to mean anything. She is licking her wounds and preparing to "try" to bow out gracefully as clearly indicated in her victory/concession-like speech.

Send the b_tch some tissues with my condolences for her loss.

    Go Obama!

Agreed, but it would be better if our votes actually counted and not determined by Super Delegates.

-What are some of the issues in your community that matter to you? Just wondering because that statement is thrown around so much. And do you think Obama will have a significant impact if elected president?

  • The sad part about this is now Clinton is going to try to get Michigan and Florida to be counted. This beside the fact that she opposed it before. If she is allowed to rob this primary from Obama, I think you will see a drop in votes. Besides, winning in Indiana was not a true win because Republicans and Independents were allowed to vote in a Democrat primary in that state and there has been a call to get them to vote for Hillary so she could lose in November to McCain. Rush Limborgh and them have been pushing for this. If you don't follow what I am saying, there were alot of false votes for her and Indiana is mainly a Republican state

  • Biko... You have some very good points about how the media is pumpin out delusion everytime you turn on the TV.... but do you seriously think Obama is going to change whats poppin in the streets? you think he's gonna lower gas prices my dude? HEELLLL NAWWWW!! All of these politicians are working for the same entity homey... THE FEDERAL RESERVE!!!!!! we must first abolish the federal reserve by radical revolution.... We have to stop looking to these elitists to solve our problems duke... Why would you turn to the Opresser for help? that's a sickness sien.... Once again I ask you.... Lets talk about some real issues homey, Like the executive orders, PDF-110, exc... We are headed towards slavery as I have said a million times.... STOP RELYING ON OBAMA TO "CHANGE" shit... What makes you think that if the American people unifiied and demanded REAL CHANGE through revolution that we couldn't get it accomplished? To many cowards though... House niggaz love the massa's house....

note from biko: I am not relying on Obama for shit. I do REAL organizing work. Which means everyday i talk to real people about their issues? The election season is a time for folks with like minds and problems to put their issues at the forefront. Trust me. If a whole lot more of us voted in blocs we would be a lot better of. It's not about the candidate. its about us. vote for the hood

  • Climate change?

    Please enlighten us...

Tell me how our planet that has been around for, to put it lightly, many years, came out of the ice age with no people around to cause it to heat up?

While you're at it, tell me why our planet has gone through a cooling phase recently?

Oh yeah, what percent of the atmosphere is CO2? What percent of that is man made?

Why is water vapor, the most abundant green house gas, not considered a threat?

Are you aware that animals, including humans exhale CO2 and that plants need CO2 to live?

When in Earth's history has the climate ever been stable or constant? Does anyone know anything about history any more?

I'm amazed at how many people are falling for this tactic to control people and have them pay taxes for exhaling eventually.

  • It ain't over by a long shot. Because if you think for a minute that yesterday's primaries sealed the deal, think......nuclear option. The Splintons have a backup plan...for the backup plan...for the backup plan. And I think that Schmillary Splinton is wheeling and dealing to get those votes to count in Florida and Michigan. Oh, forgot about Florida and Michigan did we? The Splintons didn't. And did we also forget about those prescious Supa Del-O-Gates too?

When a person like Schmillary was "born" to be Pres-I-Dent, you think some shit like primaries are gonna stop her?

  • well I must say obama had a great night last night, it shocked the hell outta me. On the other hand, when I watched MSNBC this morning they were talking about how hillary was still gonna keep pushing for a win, which is utterly disgusting. Im getting tired of the tug of war, the superdelegates dont need to count florida and michigan. its now time to make a decision because this shit is taking too long... hilary we dont believe you, you need more ppl...

I get the feeling that she thinks she is entitled to the presidency. All I can say way to go Obama!!....We are going to witness history...a black man as president. Everybody needs to get out and vote for him too.

  • Even with the Florida and Michigan votes Hillary still comes up short. The Michigan votes absolutely can not be counted because Obama wasn't even on the ballad. Hillary knows that the end is near and will probably end up conceeding sooner than later....plus her campaigne is going broke. She won't be able to afford to go much longer.
    ---------
But I'm scared of what people's expectations of Obama will be if and when he's elected president. I would like to hear him speak more specifically on his policies and paint a very clear picture of what changes he's going to be bringing to Washington. What type of supreme court justices can we expect and other administrative and policy issues.

  • I think one of the funniest things that I saw was CNN actually brought three scenrios for this race. One scenrio brought up included if they count Florida (they didn't think it was fair to count Michigan in it because Obama's name wasn't on it). In each scenrio, Obama won the popular vote and the delegate vote!!! Hillary needs to sit down.
    ^^^^^^
Oh, she keeps on saying that she will get the low-income, no college grad, working-class vote. (For all of you who don't know, she means white trash in her book) These people at the end of the day are going to mainly vote for McCain no matter what so cut the bull shit already. She is done.

  • let me preface my comment by saying i was gonna vote for hillary even before this whole rev. wright thing came out becuz of stances she has on certain issues, assuming she gets the nomination. and if barack gets the nomination, ill be voting for him on the strength that hes a democrat cuz i cant stand republicans. but does anyone really believe that barack has really cut all ties with rev. wright? my opinion is that it is not as simple as a snap of the fingers to cut ur ties with one's own pastor, especially if he was as close to him as he has been. i feel that he is tellin the people wat they wanna hear in regards to his relationship with the pastor. now i aint suggestin who he should or shouldnt be friends with, but jus keep it real. i kno if i was in baracks position, i wouldnt be able to dead my relationship with my spiritual adviser jus like that. im jus sayin. now if theres anything i might be missing, let me kno. holla
