This past weekend I was in Madison, Wisconsin on UW's campus for the 8th annual Hip-Hop As A Movement conference. This annual conference brings together some of the smartest minds in hip-hop.
This year I was on a panel with author/activist Bakari Kitwana, Angela Woodson, Billy "Upski" WImsatt, Invincible and Little Brother's Phonte and Big Pooh. The best moment of the panel came from Phonte, who said that a lot of rappers are "old" and "dumb." Talk about keeping it real. Check out the drops and holla back.
Peace to all the students that participated...much love.
Y didnt I know about this, & I live in Milwaukee. Milwaukee ppl like HIP HOP too.

Congrats for the shout out, but biko do you think you're going to have this kind of involvement and so many readers after the election?
note from biko: i've been doing this a long time bro. if sohh is willing to keep me on...i can make sure that people keep reading.
Personally, I hope you do keep this blog going after the election. Government policies are always relevant to real life situations true hip hop reflects. To that end, I actually "get it" when Obama speaks about change happening from the bottom up instead of the top down. He's simply saying that people should get involved with their local government in order to see a more immediate change.
Lil Brother is right, alot of rappers are old and dumb. Plus alot are broke and stupid, and I'm beginning to believe what I read and hear that half of these rappers are some DL gay muthafuckas frontin' to make some money. Its sad really because I always held to the saying "You ain't got to lie to kick it". But now days rapper = lier
