Yesterday was one of Willie Lynch's best days ever. I mean it doesn't get any crazier than watching two confident, capable and honest black men trading blows in the media. It's a damn shame that the American media has made this a pay per view spectacle.
But I wonder...can you support Both Obama and Rev. Wright? In my opinion neither did anything wrong. Of course, Rev. Wright could have stayed quiet, but come on, he didn't get in the preachin' business to be quiet. And on the other hand, there is no way that Obama could continue to support Wright. The media (not just Fox News) has been trying to crucify him. Clearly, life gets sticky sometimes.
But check out this video above on Rev. Wright. Seems like dude is a really good person, who just got caught up in the perfect storm.
Of course, you can support them both....what the H*ll are you talking about...
Anyway if you have to make a choice, you better choose the possible pres.
note from biko: why?
Wright just let his ego get the best of him. For the past month or so he's been treated like a wet dog trying to come indoors by the media and he just had to defend himself.
Now I don't have a problem with that per se, but there's more diplomatic ways to do so. He came off very defensive and very arrogant; he let his anger get the best of him.
But what really upset me was his apparent disregard for big picture. The point is to get Barack nominated. That's the point. Sure, if you want to defend yourself, fine, but do so within the context that Barack's nomination is the key goal.
You don't get on the national stage and, for all intents and purposes, call Barack Obama an liar. He said that Barack didn't really "distance himself" and that he only said that because he's a politician. That's negating everything Obama tried to accomplish with his race-relations speech. That's basically calling him a liar.
You don't do that as a Black man and veteran of the civil right's movement. You don't do that as a black man in America that understands what we have to do, as a whole, to progress.
He forced Barack's hand. Barack at first made it plain and clear that while he didn't agree with the man's words, he couldnt' disown the man because he was family. That was Obama's way of giving the finger to all those conservative right-wing fanatics who were calling for Wright's head. That was Obama's way of saying, "I can do a lot of things, but I can't cast aside what makes me black."
He drew a line in the sand, and amidst the "anything for a win" style politics that surrounds him, Obama said, "no...that's one thing I WON'T do." And he got so much respect for that.
And this THIS nigga Wright come out of nowhere!
I'm like, "NIGGA, WHAT THE FUCK IS YOU DOING?!! CAN'T YOU SEE WE TRYNA GET SOME SHIT DONE HERE?!"
Crab-in-a-bucket ass motha'...
I have NEVER been so mad at another black man in my life! And that's word.
(and for all the people about to say why I got to make this a race thing, I preface this statement by sa
Yes I support them both. Obama is our next president. Wright is a preacher, he reminds me of my own pastor who says the same kind of things but doesn't get noticed. The media went crazy over this. And yes, I do believe they damn near persecuted the modern day predominately black churches of america with all the unsavory comments that have been going around.
What I want to know is what church do clinton and mccain go to? What does hillary spritual leader think about her tactic during this campaign?
Rev. Wright is truly an intellectual and I appreciated and enjoyed his interview on PBS. When he spoke at the National Press conference or convention, it was absolutely uncalled for and self-serving for him to answer the questions in the way that he did. I do not see how his remarks in any way were related to God's works, and though I'm not religious, I'm pretty sure the job of a pastor is to carry forth the message of God. Him attacking and poking fun at Obama was weird, in my opinion, and I was upset because I was really rooting for him. I support Barack and plan on voting for him based on his stance on issues, but I could really care less about what Rev. Wright does from here on out as it has no bearings on Barack's role as President of the U.S. as long as he goes back to his job of preaching.
rev wright stands for somthing worth more than "becoming prez of america"...i thought obama did as well, which is why i voted for him during the primaries. obama isnt an activist nor is he a strong black leader. obama is nothing more than a politician, which is what he's been trying to tell us during this campain. our misatke as black people, came once we viewed him as something more than a politician. obama is only focused on getting into the white house no matter what it takes, and no matter who he has to denounce. he should flip it and tell the media and the entire world how he really feels about "our" issues. if he really feels anything at all...? and if the "people" dont vote for him after that, then, at least we'll know that he's willing to sacrifice his campain for the exploitation of ammerikka'a real issues. the issues that confront black america are indeed amerikkka's issues as well, but only when these issues reach the suburbs. therefore, i question whether or not obama will speak for black america if he wins... clearly he's not speaking for us now! what good is a black prez whom is afraid of pissing off white amerikkka for speaking the Truth. truth be told, we dont even have any good candidates as of right now....and NEVER have either! yeah obama is better than hillary and mccain, but that doesnt say much! especially when he has yet to stand up and speak on behalf of black america's issues, which is odd, considering that he is indeed viewed by the world as a black man...not bi-racial. bottomline - dont wait for obama to help ur everyday life in the hood cause it aint gon happen...we must do it ourselves, which is a shame since we may not ever have a strong black candidate again!
I do support both of them and feel so sorry that the media wrecked their relationship. I hope it's temporary. The media has been getting at Rev. Wright for 6 weeks. How long was the brotha supposed to let it roll off his shoulder? He should have let the PBS interview stand on his own. By Monday he was clearly angry and misbehaving because of it. I think his feelings were hurt. I also think Barack's feelings were hurt by the Reverend's actions on Monday. Barack had to cut ties with him. He had no choice. I just hope they can mend fences when this whole thing is over.
I support both...you can't fault Mr. Wright for speaking his mind he is a grown man and entitled to his opinions it's not his fault that the American public can't handle the truth...although I wish he would have waited until Barack would have gottne in the kitchen before but hey you can't fault him
I'll cut off both hands before I vote for obama. The man has no loyalty whatsoever and has nothing in common with the poor and underprivaledged black people in america. He's a wolf in sheeps clothing courtesy of the Bilderberg Group
i agree with "real talk" 100%
I can support both to a certain extent... what Rev. Wright said wasnt even bad or anything but he shouldn't have attacked Obama personally, he was wrong for that. Obama had to say something and honestly I think he was very upset about what Rev. Wright said about him and his campaign, not the other statements regarding the black church and other subject matter. I really havent had a chance to watch everything from beginning to end but based on what I have been seeing so far, this is more of a personal issue and not a political one, but of course the media will keep harping on this and some people will continue to fall for this media game.
IM DISAPPOINTED IN WRIGHT HE SHOULDA BEEN COO UNTILL OBAMA WAS ELECTED THEN RISE UP AGAIN WE BELEVE IN WRIGHT BUT WE NEED A BLACK PRES

I am a member of Rev. Wright's Church and can say while I am disappointed in how things are playing out in the media, you can support both. Just as Rev. Wright said, he is a pastor; Barrack is a politician. They have two completely different audiences and are accountable to totally different authorities.
Rev. wright speaks the truth... America did create the Aids virus as a means of genocide against the black people... Obama is a coward... He distanced himself from an outspoken black militant to keep the white vote..what a coward... He said the sean bell verdict is to be respected.... what a fuckin uncle tom ass nigga... This is all a media ploy to divert our attention from whats really going on.... We will be going to war with Iran here in the next couple months... That will start WWIII... Mark my words... Then marshal law will ensue... This shit is just really appauling to see so many uncle tom ass cowards.
Yes, at one point in time you probably could've supported both. But now we're going to have to choose because Rev. Wright's timing was so off! Obama can't win the white house without white voters. Wright's comments have only fueled the racial divide. Up until now race was not too much of an issue. But somehow, someway the cleaver folks that don't want Obama to win were able to play Rev. Wright like a violin, bait and trap him into making emotionally flaired comments and bringing race into the forefront. Weather you agree with Wright's comments or not, Wright should feel like an absolute fool. Because Obama had gotten our small thinking minds off of revenge and on to progression. The sooner we face the fact that we can't make white people pay for or even acknowledge the injustices done to us, the sooner we can heal ourselves and move on. As a man of God Rev. Wright should have known this and should be advocating unity.
I hate the political process because it inherently precludes anyone vying for office from speaking the truth.
Reverend Wright is not a politician, he's a pastor and an activist. Obama has known about this duality since he met Rev Wright. In fact, it's what led Obama to meet Rev Wright.
How is it that Obama has been a member of Wright's congregation for all these years and had no clue of his opinions? Either one of two things is going on here: Obama used Wright to gain an audience with Chicago's south side and become their supposed symbol of hope, only to show his true colors in the end, or worse yet Obama believes and holds true everything that Wright has said for all these years and now, for the sake of his career, is turning his back on his beliefs.
Either way, Obama has shown that he is a fake, a fraud.
It took me a while to warm up to Obama and his litany of platitudes. It wasn't until he started coming under fire that I began to see in him as someone that the establishment did not want in power, which made me hopeful that he could possibly be the man to change the direction of our country at the chagrin of the elite.
With eyes wide open, I now understand why my gut instinct had been not to trust him. He is nothing more than a token black running opposite the chosen woman, used to divide and conquer the opposition to the current political scapegoat, the GOP.
Until people began to understand the professional wresting dynamics of our current political, two party, system, we will continue to falsely believe that there is hope of change, when in reality there is none. The only change that will take place, come November, is the name of the puppet.
In the seperation of church and state you should be able to support both. Black people need to stop acting like he's running for "King of the Blacks". He's running for president of the U.S. the most prestigous position in the world. His seperation from rev. Wright is not shocking. If Obama is going to get the rural blue collar white vote he must seperate sadly. Let's face it some whites in these areas are scarred to death of rev. Wright's statements. I agree what rev. said, but I understand the position that Obama's in. At the end of the day Rev. Wright is a pastor and we're not voting for "pastors". Don't let this situation of divide and conquer deter you for voting for Obama if you were already a Obama supporter. Hilary and McCain are laughing their asses off if we continue to harp on this foolishness. This is nonsense lets get this war ended, fight poverty, strenghten the economy, step up healthcare etc...GO VOTE BE ACCOUNTED FOR MAKE A CHANGE!!!
What's even funnier is Hilary and McCain probably don't even go to church unless they're trying to get some votes!!!!!!
i can see it now...OBAMA WINS. but nothing in the hood changes....NOTHING. so ask urself....do we really want a black prez just to say"hey world, we have a black prez!" ...Obama will lead us str8 into the New World Order...do ur research!!! North American Union...? WWIII...? yeah thats what Obama is on :(
