The success of ringtone rappers have become a gift and a curse to the hip-hop. Though he hasn't been as critical of ringtone rappers as most, Banner understands the negative effects it has on the genre and is manning up and taking some of the blame for the craze.

I undstand that people buy ringtones because they really like tha songs...check 2pac....i got 4 friends who have pac as a tone...does that make 2pac a ringtone rapper or we can chalk it up ta hiphop is still growing ta match tha new era...tha only banner ringtones ive seen r that wurkout song or whatever it is and his first hit...banner is not a ringtone rapper

The internet removes the costs of manufacturing a disc, packaging the disc, printing art for the sleeve and the disc, shipping the discs, recording the discs, etc...
The music biz is suffering because they let idiots dictate to us what art is and what they pick is catchy bullshit. The music biz is suffering because no one wants to buy an album that is rushed and full of bullshit. The music biz is suffering because people are tired of bullshit! Who wants to buy an album when you hear the best song on it, which isn't saying much, all day on the radio, which is why radio is suffering.
If a true artist puts out good work, people will buy it. People will go see it performed, period. But I for one am not going to a "show" to see a nigga walk around with a mic and not entertaining me, but asking me to participate in entertaining the crowd. Nigga make me get into it buy doing something special. See the Roots live show, see Jay-Z's live show, tour with a band or at least a couple live instruments. I've seen Common and Outkast do live ass shows with a DJ and a few instruments and it makes a world of difference because there's room for improv.
I don't want to go to a show and see you perform a CD. I can stay at home and listen to that shit or go on youtube and see a video if that's the case. That brings up a good point. When videos came out I'm sure there were "artist" out there crying that it would take away from people wanting to see live shows, but guess what? If you put on a good live show people will come see it.
Let me sum it up, the music biz is stagnant because everyone is doing the same thing. Stand out. Standing out isn't doing your own unique adlib either.
Banner, you're from the south! Nigga you went to Southern! Ever think about getting the SU band behind you? You know how trill a show that would be? To have a DJ and the SU band, one of the best marching bands in the world to be your band?

tasteless thas not a true statement. scarface dropped a hot album n december n he didnt sell records. bun b just dropped an album n he didnt sell big. hell..ppl talk about kanye almost goin platinum his 1st week..but did u know that overall this is his lowest sales? his other 2 albums sold more than this 1 overall..so 2 say that ppl will only buy music where the artist actually put their work n is wrong. cus a lot of artists put their work n and they still dont sell..u have a better chance 2 sell by puttin out these ringtone hits 2 mainstream america cus they the 1s that buy the albums
