Talib Kweli: Hot Thing/In The Mood Video

If you saw my post yesterday you know I talked about my single "Hot Thing" and the word Beauty. If not, here's what I said:

I write hip hop love songs because I love hip hop. I love it's potential for tribute. I grew up around strong beautiful women, so I am not ashamed to celebrate that beauty. I think that is what a real man does. Not that there aren't foul women out there, but they have an abundance of songs to choose from. The good women have to search for their songs. Beauty is my favorite thing to write about because you can never run out of ways to describe it. If you think that's soft, you're probably lonely.

Dope Kweli, you killed it with the dancing, seriously. That was one of the few recent hip-hop vids I've seen where the rapper is actually enjoying himself instead of just mean-mugging.

Not happy about how much this vid rips Jay-Z's, especially because I consider Talib one of the original emcees out there and also one of my favorites. I guess you would say you took a decent idea and flipped it. Still, I prefer something completely original. Song is fire!!!!! Also, I would have loved to actually see some of these sistas that you big up. I mean the shot goes by so quickly that I can't even get a good look. Are they really hot or what?

This is why I love Talib Kweli because he's man in an industry full of boys. Everyone's worried about being street and hard but the most hard thing that you can do is be honest with yourslef and stay in your own lane. He refuses to be a minstrel show and shows pure intellect.
