I feel truly blessed to be SOHH.com's first "Official" Artist, thanks to all the readers for all of your support.
The real aim of the 16 Words Tour was to let the fans know how important these songs were to me. The concept evolved from an idea we had to do an alternate track listing for the album, and we just couldn't quite figure out how to roll that out in the right way. Brainstorming off of some designs for the album artwork, posters, etc, a couple of these words jumped at me right from the page. I started to play around with the concept and everything just seemed to click. The 16 Words Tour is really The Eardrum Tour. Each song from the album is embodied in a single word title, you extract your own meaning from it.
If you check this blog, I will be giving you a better idea of what these words mean, as well as other things to check for like track listings and concert tour dates.
Let's get into the first video where I discuss the first three tracks on the album, "Everything Man" - excellence, "NY Weather Report - determination and "Hostile Gospel" - fire.
First of all, Let me say that I have been a huge fan from long time ago, Talib. Please note that no matter what the critics say about your music, I BUY your album without even having to listen to a single song, because you are one of the few artists that continue to put out quality music.
On that note, keep the movement going, and try to make your way down to Trinidad for a show!! If not, at least for Carnival, so we can blow some trees and enjoy the vibes! Holla
Blacksmith is th Movement!!
Big Ups TK, all day
Eardrum gon be Bangin!
I'm buggin'. Talib starting a blog. That alone is fire. I sadly report that I went down to the recka sto on 7/24/07 to cop Planet Earth and Eardrum, two cds by two of my favorite artists. I was most disappointed by the push back, but I agree with the first blogger that I will cop it and cop everything you do without having to hear the songs (I've got your mixtapes as well). Keep doing your art and don't change a thing. Actually, let me amend that -- please do another Blackstar joint and another joint with Hi-Tek. Reflection Eternal is in my Top 5 LPs all-time. The song For Women is in my Top 5 songs and for my Top 5 emcees Dead or Alive (in order): 1) 2Pac, 2) Rakim, 3) Jay-Z, 4) Kweli , 5) BIG - Real Talk.
good looks kweli....you got listeners in Memphis too..we see ya...
oh yeah, the track with UGK is on point...much respect....
bless you talib, keep the real hip hop music alive in the minds of the populace.
Word Talib. Way to keep hip hop alive, everythign from Blacksmith to murking that hip-popper MIMS ("It's 2007 and you still sellin' crack", that was crazy). Talib makin' iit easier for hip-hop to get by.
I agree w/ Trini Double R. Please keep doing whatchu doin' and keep the movement going. I will continue to buy your music and put others onto the common sense and edification that you spit. Plus, I am going to Carnival next year and would love to blow some trees with you both. LOL
Big ups to sohh.com for supporting real artists like Talib Kweli, matter of fact we need another joint with you and Mos Def.
First of all Peace man. Kweli your music is inspirational as well as the movement you represent man. We need more people like you in order to keep a balance not only just in HipHop but in the world man. I cop every lp you drop without hesitation.....As a matter of fact I don't want to listen to any new joints from you online because I like the experience of listening to it the first time in the whip. It's nothing like it. Keep reppin that real HipHop!!
