Bun B: Tour of Houston: "Studio 7303"

BunKLCBLOG.jpg
This is where I recorded my entire album. A friend of mine, Ronnie Bookman owns it, and right now it’s probably one of the best studios in the country.

Their A room is one of the best A rooms in the country. They got a brand new SSL in there, custom built board. It’s a gated in studio and it’s a real tight knit team over there and they run a very tight ship.

They offer you a lot of privacy, a lot of space, in-house food, everything you could ever want on the premises. Basketball court, anything you could want- and privacy, which for a lot of people is extremely important.

It’s a family vibe. Everybody that works at 7303 has known each other for a long time and they make you feel at home. You’ll see Mannie Fresh, Scarface has recorded most of his new album there, Baby, Mike Jones.

ZZ Top is getting ready to start doing some recording over there. Billy Gibbons likes to record in the best places and right now Houston is the best place you can work.

(Studio 7303, 7303 Ardmore, 713-741-7426,)

  • NY SKIllz unfortunately you are right about people not having lyrical skills but i think thats pretty much most people in the game not just people from the south. everybody who is quote unquote on top i todays industry is coming with some light weight shit and talking about the same shit.MONEY, HOES, BIG WHEEL ,SMOKING DRO, and dont let me forget IM THE _______.(fill in the blank because everyone something. I personally was disappointed about buns album i just heard it 2 days ago. but he kinda gave me the heads up when he made the comment "dont hate the player hate the game," when it came to the thing about little brother. I really wish bun would have come with (at least one song on the cd)that has some of the knowledge I have heard from him in earlier years like the policeman are our friends, pussy ass niggas, and the feds. I hope on the next album he considers doing a couple tracks like that for the people who were original fans back in 92 when you had a pocket full of stones. To light weight and BUN B is to intelligent and old for that.

  • Yall south band waggon niggas kill me. Hip hop has always had trends. ALWAYS. And it has always swung back to nyc. Nyc is th the begining, middle and end of this hip hop shit.... We tought the world how to rap. And we invented this whole motherfucking culture. And we continue 2 reinvent it. And the south can not deny the influence we have on them... From airforce ones to mixtapes. That's all ny homie. Ny is not shining right now because Ny is not on its grind. Niggas is either dead, retired,in jail or beefing.... The south is shyning because they are on there grind. And some artist ti,jeezy, wayne, luda actually bring great lyricism to the table. The south is doing its thing. I respect that. But you can't mention hip hop with out the 5 boroughs. We invented this shit. all yall south niggas. Remember you aint know nothin bout this till yall seen it on bet. And then yall started doin it. Some of yall is doin it well some of yall is trash. But this is our shit. We just tought u how to do this. Anywayz big up to bun b. I think he a real dude and his album is hot. Its been a long time comming 4 that dude.

  • can_i_live, ny has made an undeniable impact on hip hop, but ny is lost. i've been listenin to hip hop since sugar hill, da first album i bought was da fat boys first album. long befo bet showed rap videos. only thing ny brought to da rap game is dookie rope chains and dats outta style like da whole ny rap scene. da problem is da music, ny started out usin da 808, then just when niggas er'where started puttin big speakers in their cars ny started makin records without bass and people really couldn't jam to dem pete rock/premier type beats in da club. dat whole era died after wu-tang. then puff puts b.i.g. out and his records got bass and it sounds good in da club. after puff did that every record outta ny sounded different, producers like just blaze and swizz beatz didn't sound like old ny producers. but now new york can't compete, ny don't even have a sound no mo. even though da south does over use da 808, da south makes better beats. it sounds good in da ride and da club, we just have to step it up a lil. if it's gangsta like ugk, jeezy, t.i. or young buck it can still be played in da club. in da club you don't club people ain't payin attention to how sick a nigga can spit. all people care care about is dat a nigga is sayin somethin and that he his ridin da beat. ny niggas rap like they don't here da beat and it fucks up da rhythm of da song. ny niggas always had hot lyrics, but when you put dat shit to a beat sometimes it sounds like shit. hip hop is a unforgivin culture people don't care where it started people don't care if you where first all dat matters is right now and right now ny ain't shit. outta sight, outta mind.

  • "Check" you just further proved my point. South rappers is more concerned about what knocks in the club... I don't know about u but I don't spend my whole life in the club. There's other aspects to life. And I don't give a damn what my music sound like in the club. When I listen to cats like jadakiss, buddens, and even fab. I relate 2 what they talkin bout. Music is supposed 2 be real. And introspective. We supposed 2 feel what an artist is sayin. That's the main thing that kills me about the south. Some of these niggas Only rap about the club. Or stuntin on niggas at the club wit ya whip or jewelery. Niggas like mike jones/ yin yang/ lil flip don't be rappin about a motherfuckin thing.... Wood grain..... Candy paint...... Rims........ Its very fuckin repetive.. The point that evry one makes is.... "The south is selling." But I don't give a fuck about sales. I judge music on lyricism and quality production. And lil john and the rest of them niggas aint the best producer cuz they shit hit hard in the club... Ny rappers might give u one club song or 2 on the album. The rest is real shit. That's how it should be. How the fuck can you put out a whole album of club bangers. That aint complete. My point is this is what's wrong with a lot of motherfuckers. Nigga live and die for the club... I don't know bout yall but thers realer shit going on in my hood. Maybe these yin yang mike jones ass niggas aint got shit else 2 talk about? That's fuckin sad. Big ups to the south artist that's real and got some real shit 2 say. And fuck the ones with no talent and no content.

I hate niggas who get on the internet talkin shit they wouldent say in person. That shit is so bitch. Come to 103rd and lex wit that shit

  • can_i_live, i like lyrics too, but the key is to have balance, to have songs dats sayin somethin real, but can still jam on da radio or da club. ny niggas act like you supposed to listen to hip hop in a library. or like it's da opera where you're just supposed to listen to it. music is supposed to move you lyrics alone don't move shit. and you right not every song is for da club ,but this is music not poetry. lyrics alone is poetry, rappin is when you put it to a beat. i mostly a fan of production it's da one area of hip hop where you can always see how hip hop has grown and production is always gettin' better unlike lyrics. i don't spend all my time in da club ,but name one hit dat didn't get played in da club.
