"The Jump Off" is the first and only video released from Kim's 3rd CD 'La Bella Mafia'. A video was shot for "Came Back For You" but was never released to video networks. Kim felt that Atlantic Records was not supporting her as they should, and she felt that she would allow us to see how well her CD could actually do with only one video. It worked, as she went platinum based on one official single.
Kim was very unimpressed with this video. She was late for filming, and when she did arrive, there was nothing available that was in Hillary Weston's and her original treatment, so unfortunately the only single released for 'La Bella Mafia' was a let down to even Kim. The video had appearances from Mr. Cheeks, Funkmaster Flex, Lil' Mo and was directed by Benny Boom.
I did like this video, but I understand why Kim did not. It was a very rushed and busy video. Kim did show us her dancing skills and carried the routine into many performances after the videos release, and like many fans, I enjoyed the dance. Kim also coined the "Sprite Can" phrase, which may be one of her most memorable to date. This was also Kim's return to dark hair in a video, which a lot of fans appreciate. Personally, I like how Kim's hair used to change every other appearance, but it's nice to see her with something steady as well.
