Slim Thug is pushing forward with Koch. Back by Blockular Demand is still doing its thing in the streets. And now Slim releases a new single for all you street runners. It's been 3 yrs since Slim released an album. But this might prove to be perfect timing. If anything Slim now knows what works and what doesn't. Before I get to his new single, I gotta run this "Living Without." This song definitley should have been a single with video. (in your deep voice) This should be played at high volume.
So here's the new joint. Still laid back in the cut Slim just lets it be known his foundation will never be lost. Aye Jim, I see ya.
So what ya think? Is Slim on the way back to the top. I think so pimp'n. I think so.So there were reports on a CTE rapper that was hurt in a car accident. And I'm pleased to report that Boo is doing ok, back at home recuperating. Now some of you were wondering who is Boo but let me be one of the first to say. Dude can go as far in this rap sh*t as anybody. Anybody. But instead of me filling you in. Lets bring in the World Famous Charlie Braxton to bring you up to speed. Jacktown what up!
To national rap fans Boo may be a relative newcomer but to Mississippi rap fans Boo (AKA Boo da Boss Player AKA Boo Rossinni) is a hometown hero who fan base in Mississippi rivaled that of David Banner before he inked his deal with SRC/Universal.
Boo started his rap career as an underground rapper in 1996 with a local label and released his underground debut Birds Fly South and begin selling it on consignment, selling over 5,000 units in Jackson alone. The record created a huge buzz in the streets of Mississippi and ended up catching the ears of Louisiana based rapper C-Loc ("How Ya Do Dat") who invited Boo to join him, Young Bleed and Maxmanelli and others in forming a group called the Concentration Camp. He stayed with them for three years and they recorded an album on Priority and two independently before the group parted ways. After the demise of the Camp Boo formed his own label 1 Life, 1 Love and released his second LP Jacktown 601, which sold close to 15,000 units. With his third album Hustler's Prayer, Boo not only doubled his sales, but was able to move units outside of the State of Mississippi.
"I was just trying to build from the Birds Fly South album," Boo told writer Charlie Braxton back 2003. "I just took the same practice that I had gained from that Birds Fly South album and applied it to the momentum that I had already built up from the first album and the Concentration Camp album. Now I'm not only in Mississippi selling units, but I'm in Louisiana selling units and we in Texas moving units.By 2001, Boo had grown from a local rapper to a full fledge regional star, who managed to signed a joint-venture deal with Interscope Records, a year before Banner inked his deal. Unfortunately, things didn't work out between Boo and Interscope so the two amicably parted ways after a year and half. Once again Boo was on his own. In the spring of 2002 Boo dropped Block 2 Block and hit the road promoting it. This time he managed to sell close to 30,000 units and expand his fan base to include parts of Georgia and Florida. Impressed with Boo Rossini's talent and hustle Florida based label Royal Dollar Records approached Boo about joining their label in a joint venture deal. He agreed and months later Boo and the CEO of Royal Dollar were sitting in Clive Davis' office with Boo auditioning for the record industry legend. "I did three songs from my new album," says Boo. "And when it was over Clive said sign him right now. That's how I got the deal with J Records."
But once again things didn't work out for Boo and the three eventually went their separate ways. But Boo kept grinding. One day a chance meeting in 2005 with fellow underground rapper and long time friend Young Jeezy led to the two of them collaborating on a song called "Miss Me With that Rap Sh*t," which appeared on Jeezy's classic "Trap or Die" mixtape. Once Boo was free from his contractual obligation to J Records Jeezy signed him to CTE in the fall of 2007. Since then Boo has appeared on several CTE mix tapes and recently released a Hoodz DVD called the D-Boy Connection. We here at SOHH wish Boo a speedy recovery!
