Memphis Hip-Hop has been the back bone for the South for a long time. They just never really get there credit. Take my word for it all that will change in 2009. Ya boy L'Daialogue Dicaprio summed up a lot of their history in this short song and video.
Some people may not really get the Memphis sound but its one that is pure, with spiritual intentions. One only has to look at the murder of MLK to see a clear example of the type of things that were going on in Memphis back in the day. That spirit still lives in the sound. It is the spirit that gave birth to Crunk. I mention this because the underground sound is creeping back up and this is just a preface of what we are about to see.
Now to bring you up to speed here is one of the forerunners of the Memphis movement. Its ya boy Yo Gotti.
While surfing the next I ran across this and just thought I'd share it with ya. Slim Thug and his homeboy Jay in a foot race. Looks like he's ready for the Texas relays. Well almost...
Classic joint for the day goes to UGK and Master P.
