What Do We Have To Do To Get Better Variety From Our Music?

Ok I've got a pretty good idea, but I wanna know what you ladies and gents think. You know how we always have the unbalance channels pumping the same music over and over. What can we do about it? The rating system obviously doesn't get to us. And when I say us, I mean real everyday people. Like, when is the last time you did a survey for your local radio station or music channel? Here's what I propose:

I can honestly say there are more DJ conferences and conventions going on now and we now know the names of more DJs thanks to the Source, XXL, and all the other publications and hip-hop websites and mags that have covered all DJs from everywhere. (you know my list is a lil too long to be typing) Then you have organizations and events like the Justo Mixtape Awards, or individuals like DJ Chuck T who beside just DJing fight for the balance in the business. Q45 who has stood the test of time and given us quality in the midst of chaos. So I believe we are on our way. But I also believe artist like Little Brother should get more exposure across the board, also artist like K Rino in Texas.

Places like Arkansas and Ohio have nonstop music scenes. I could name a million more like the Carolinas and the DMV. The Bay Area. Austin, Texas.  All of these music scenes in the small towns like Natchitoches, LA. or Duval, FL. These places have just as much relevant history and talent as any other Big City you can name. It's just the media has had a filter on it when it comes to hip-hop. It seems on every end of the industry.  We love our customers more than you will ever know so we don't expect everyone to feel us.

Just know that everything in this world, hip hop, and media is changing and WE are shaping it.

man, its just one of those days where ya just feel like.

I gave up on KRS1 when he started a Temple of Hip-Hop where he encouraged people to view rap as a religious path.

So to see him with Souljah Boy just confirms what I already know: It's dangerous being the smartest person you know. You don't have anyone to keep you in check.

He loses permanent respect from me permanently (read: forever) for appearing with Rap City's worst and fakest VJ ever (EVER) and Souljah Boy at one time.

Like I said last week: LL COOL J was Souljah Boy's age when he came out. Compare their first albums and tell me if rap music is still alive and if the bar has been raised or lowered.

100% co sign w/ that final statement. LL shoulda been on the show w/ him instead of KRS. hell, lil waynbe was his age and tha block is hot is still hot! didn't know wayne would grow up to be a homo/metrosexual drug addict, but dats besides the point. good shit, sponsor

Wait hold on a sec. I don't understand why people expect cannibus style lyrics from Soulja Boy. Soulja Boy is more in the mold of Dj Jubilee (bounce from the NO), The Cupid Shuffle, To Live Crew, etc. He gets the party started. The only problem with hiphop is that no light is shown on the more substative songs. Artist like Field Mob and Bone Crusher are perceived a certain way because the masses only pay attention to there singles. Did you know Bone Crusher has a song with Goodie Mob called "hate ourselves" speaking on the pschye of blacks? Field Mob has a song that is literally a slave narrative. Both rappers rap as if they are slaves living back in time. Thats substance right there. In all honesty F*ck LL he hasn't been bout sh!t for years now. His style now is take his shirt off and lick his lips. He has no substance in his music what so ever. If anyone is a club whore its LL. We won't even talk about him being a republican and having plastic surgery. If soulja boy is killing hiphop so is LL.

This article seems a little ridiculous. The cover page lists artist my 8 year old sister would have no problem IDing. Get a clue and stop kidding yourself with this big-upping the underground! Keep stealing teen people's material: Chris Brown and Ne-Yo.
