Ozoneawards20080812300x300

Ok the 2008 Ozone Awards went down. All and all the entire weekend went pretty smooth. There were a few hang ups, but for anyone who had their stuff together it was worth it. The networking was 24/7. Here's Part II of my recap:

Lots of djs, promoters, label reps and such. The Award show itself was interesting to say the least. The one thing that stood out was the love that was shown to the west coast. Too Short came out and performed with Mista Fab and the other fifty or so west coast representatives that were there.

Texas never got a chance to do their set which was foul. But to Ozone's credit there was nothing they could do. The Fire Marshall shut it down.

Of course you've heard by now about DJ Vlad and Rick Ross' crew. Mike Jones and Trae. The good thing about that was the fact that all of them kept it physical with the hands and didn't involve any firearms.

The Living Legend award went to J. Prince. The Pimp C tribute, the Florida and West coast set were the high points of the night. This is the 3rd year for TJ and Julia Beverly and I got faith that it will get better and better.

Stay tuned to MTV Jams and you can see the broadcast version as I'm sure there will be at least three youtube versions up by the end of the week. In the meantime peep some more pics I took.

We tell our kids not to hit one another in school - that nothing positive comes from it.

Then we commend grown men when they do it, because afterall, they could have shot each other. (?)

1. Grown men shouldn't be punching each other out. Especially at a business function.

2. Grown men should go to jail when they fight.

3. Professional event organizers should ban individuals that fight.

4. Wait a year and we'll know for sure, it hasn't resorted to gunplay.

Julia's Friends = Clowns
Julia's Event = Circus

This is nothing more than a Barney and Bailey circus event full of monkeys. "The Jigaboo Fest", the "Bojangles Step Show", A "Coon Picnic" "Jungle Bunny Convention", "Tar Baby Expo", "Chicken and Watermelon Reunion"

True, but this was never a professional convention in the first place when you have untrained monkeys running amuck in the establishment. The ringmaster "Julia" does not know how to keep her cage of monkeys under control.
