Hip-Hop Sends Katrina Victims A "Second Line"

Hurricane Katrina happened in 2005 and years later New Orleans is still pushing to reorganize the city. We have lots of work still to be done when it comes to the political bullsh*t that jams our people up from returning to a city that has truly taken care of its debt with the people.
Its always been like this so when you see a "Second Line" coming your way, just let go and party. Let us show you how to cut loose to the sound of music. Jazz, hip-hop, zydeco, all that. Mane don't get me started. More on that later.
But my boy Sess 4 5. Those from Louisiana would know him as a solid figure in the underground New Orleans Rap scene. Well he also is very involved with the community. He put me up on a Second Line going down on August 29th. It will be Cross the Canal. Q-93, FM 98, N.O KATRINA COMMEMORATION FOUNDATION, MOS DEF, DANNY GLOVER, CNN, STOOGES BAND, MS.TEE, PNC, BLACK MEN UNITED will be some of the peeps there. It's going down to honor our fallen family and friends that the government left hanging.
I know some of you feel I shouldn't say it like that, but kill yourself quietly, it is what it is.
And if ya lost people in this government planned 9/11 Part 2. Then you know the real.
Nevertheless the party rolls on to reunite with family every chance we get.

Not every1 can afford insurace you know. Plus, the government wasn't at the fastest to act u dummy, every1 knows that.
Have to agree tho, buy insurance but sometimes some people cant afford all these different insurances anymore, Health Insurance, Flood Insurace, Home Insurance etc.!
Not to mention the bullshit ass stipulations they put on homeowner's insurance...how does flood insurance not cover water damage?

Mr. Reality is a rich person. I don't make assumptions about his color, as I am a poor Irishman from the poverty stricken region of Chicago. But his blatent lack of a sense of reality is very stark. Here he says buy insurance, in America. Most of the homes in the 3rd ward were heavily populated by the extremely poverty-stricken 'black' community. The housing was cheap, and thus they flocked for a roof in this hypocritical nation. As you wipe your ass with a wet wipe, and then wash it in a beday. We use old rags and sometimes razors, thats the reality of the poverty we are used to experiencing in the richest nation in the world, still the richest nation in the world that is right. And in this wealthy nation we sit next to Canada, who is NOT the most wealthy in the world but has very orthodox American values, as the health care system INSURES everyone. What Mr. Reality fails to realize is that from birth we are thrown into a world where the dollar controls every aspect of our lives, and his own. Because his parents money is long he fails to realize the reality of the poor people. But as a human he can agree that it is our instinct to get food for us and our families, to get shelter from the elements, to cloth ourselves and to live comfortably. The REALITY is that when you take the corporate out of America, you will find a lush land full of vegetables, trees, animals, native history of living off of the land and a life that would be most comfortable in many terms. But alas the corporate is here, and he has put up his cameras on every corner, he has brainwashed with his television, he has produced a greed and thirst that will never be quenched and a nation and a people lost. Ignorance shows itself quite often here in America. So, do not be surprised by the puppets of the puppetier.

Though Mr. Reality may not have not have said it in a manner that was sensitive to the feelings of those effected be the hurricane, he does make a point. I think that what the hurricane exposed was that the dependancy we as a people have developed on the government is our biggest downfall and ultimatley the reason we will allways be veiwed as 2nd class and expendable.
This government functions exactly like it was constitutionaly intended; to favor white men. Knowing this we cannot continue to complain about it, if we took the money that we spend on needless trapping and invested it in ourselves than when the next Katrina or whatever catasrophy strikes we will be self sufficient and this racist system will have no consiquence.
I agree with Mr. Reality. Hurricane Katrina was a natural disaster.
