As Real As The Rhymes?

you know this is something that always gets talked about and I wonder if it even matters to the new generation of hip hop. Are you as real as your rhymes? Do you care your favorite rapper is spitting about something he really doesn't know anymore? Are you just into the showbiz of it all? Does your favorite rapper have a message or is he busy talking about rims and rides all the time? Was he a tatted up gangbanger after be got rich or before he was famous?

Does any of it matter anymore to you?

Sorry for the short blog I had to do it from my iphone since I'm on the road trying to get some net access for by laptop at a new spot.

  • Caring whether rappers were real or not in the late 90's is what started the demise of hip hop. People stopped worrying about the art and worried more about who was really doing what they were spitting. The problem was that we soon found out that rappers really weren't doing what they were rapping about. This disillusionment created a separation between the consumer and the rapper. Now you have all these rappers trying so hard to convince you that they are real that they really do what they say they do that no one tries to be a lyricist anymore, and the few that do ( Lupe Fiasco, Talib, Mos Def) hardly get any airplay.

  • Rap and Hip Hop are stuck in this fucked up reality that a beat and a hook is better tha having a message, meaning or any real lyrical value. Its always bout how many diamonds they got in they piece, ring or mouth. Im from tha south, doesnt mean i love music from the south. Dont get me wrong, there still some songs that i label classic shit cause its from back in tha days. But as for present day Hip Hop, its all trash shit. Wayne sounds like hes on sum form of heroin when he talks in interviews, and when he raps, hes really just babble'n. T.I. claims to be hard, but he's bitchin up after gettin caught buyin weapons. Rick Ross wants to be a kingpin. and the majority of tha rappers outta ATL areriddin on one style( minus Outkast, Goodie Mob and Luda). Every rappers is a gangsta, hood, a killa, a ex-dope boy or a young sumthin. At one point of time i was all about Hip Hop, but ever since this younger generation took over and raped tha bitch, i went left at tha fork in tha road.

All lyrical w/ concepts meant to provoke thoughts and emotions like music is supposed to do. There was a time when i was doing my worst and it'll be one good rap song or artist who would bring me out the muck w/ one of his/her songs. I would connect to the music because i could relate to it. now since i'm grown there isn't anything i can connect to..minus the ugk and scarface and the puff grown n sexy music and shit...

They say it's a breath of fresh air or like nothing else that is out there. Then you listen to it and it sounds like everything else that is out there.     I would like you to check me out and leave your opinion on what i have to offer... I dont have that "Nas" type stuff.. I think that is only geared to that East coast genre of cyphers and etc. What i like to do w/ my music is send messages to the fans like the messages used to touch me... Every now and then I make what I called "tuff talk" records because it helps release energy but it doesnt consist of gun shots and robberies and felonies... Its more like, I dont want disrespect and if i get it then these are the consequences. Im also explaining my grind and how hard it it being a man and growing and music for my city of houston... and whats it like to be in the workforce as a black man and what music does to me and etc.... So technically and theoretically, i have a hard time writing because its easy to write "tuff talk" so i challenge myself to stay away from it...

  • Rappers, Are not obligated to have a message in their music. If a rapper wants to tell the truth or lie about his life in his lyrics then they can do that.

    If they want to put a message in their music they can do that. It is where their heart is at or their mind is at.

    If they want to rap bout guns and rims, its's cuz they want to and it sales. If 50 Cent was spittin some'n like what The Last Poets spoke about, or Goodie Mob or KRS One or any one who rapped with a positive message. He would not be popular and i don;t even like him as a rapper.

    SO if a rapper wants to be a positive rapper that's him
