I caught the video, Lil Troy Responds to Pimp C yesterday and its definitely a funny video to watch, at least to me. Watch the video. Can you tell what this man is on? He must have got ahold of some real good sh!t or real bad, you tell me which is it? And why is he still stuck on stupid about Scarface and still trying to throw out his wack fake DVD. At least when Pimp was talking he had some substance in what he said, seems like Lil Troy is just half out of his mind, but thats just my opinion.
Anyway if Lil Troy doesnt come off as bitter, half crazy and on some sh!t to you then we must be watching different videos. You can peep the link to see more of what I think and discuss amongst yourselves.
Is this what it's come to? A group of dudes up in the club dancing together like a group of girls would in the past. Where I come from dudes don't dance together, jumping around and giggling like a group of cheerleaders or something to a song about nothing.
That stuff isnt Texas, maybe its an ATL thing, I saw Gyant discussing the Soulja Boy dance craze over on the ATL blog and whether it was a good or bad thing for the game. My opinion is that it's not good and this is part of what Pimp C was talking about Im sure. Music about nothing, dudes dancing together, music with no message and well I think you know the rest.
So speak up are you one of the dudes thats up in the club together with another group of dudes dancing together and thinking it's hot? Or are you standing back and nodding your head watching the ladies and the scene like me? Maybe Im a little too old school and guys dancing together like that is a little too feminine for me, but that might be acceptable in the ATL, Im just asking the question.
This was a hot topic a little over a week ago about who the top 10 hottest mc's in the game would be according to an article on MTV. You can see the first thing I wrote about it here.
So now it's time to revisit it, now that their full top 10 has been listed. I wondered how many from the south would make the top 10. It ended up with 4 out of 10 being from the south. So here's the list and a new set of questions about this topic.
10. Jim Jones
9. Common
8. 50 Cent
7. Jay-Z
6. Young Jeezy
5. Kanye West
4. Andre 3000
3. Game
2. T.I.
1. Lil Wayne
Who doesnt deserve to be on this list that is?
Who is missing from the list?
How do you judge who belongs in the top 10 if not based on commerical success?
I think this one speaks for itself, its the video for the current Chamillionaire single 'Hip Hop Police featuring Slick Rick. It premiered on BET just this past week. This is the full version not the one that will end up making the rounds on regular airplay.
I think this is one of the better videos that I've seen lately, what do you think?
Well I was all set to cover a couple events this weekend and get you all some exclusive photos and video to enjoy but it didnt go down. It started on Friday when I was riding in the D to pick up a lady friend to attend an event to watch and upcoming rapper from Dallas perform. That man was Johnny Ringo and I definitely like his music and I figured you all would too. Well that never happened because thanks to the quality roads in Dallas, mainly loop 635 near Mesquite I got a bent wheel and blown out tire while riding at 70 in the inside left fast lane. Brand new wheels less than 2 weeks old on the slab and now freshly bent and the tire flat.
I ended up on the side of the road for quite a bit before getting roadside assistance and was already late. Eventually ended up at the hotel and had to make an early trip home as the ride was tore up and wasn't going to get me around the city the way I wanted. I needed to get back home and get in my other slab and order a new wheel and tire. So that means I also didnt get to attend the Play N Skillz All Star Weekend to grab some exclusives for you.
So then its Saturday night as I write this and I was going to cover a small event with your boy from OKC Chris McCain. I showed up at about 11:30 to a club in small town Texas only to see the police showing up in force and entering the club. So I sat for a minute to see what was going down. Yep illegal alcohol and tobacco sales cold shut the place down and nearly everyone that was there left.
So thats the weekend wrap up for me, bent wheel, blown out tire, missed performance and shut down club. Check out the links of Johnny Ringo and Chris McCain and stay tuned.
DigiPimp - Much love to the D for their city streets!
Yeah it's Friday again and continuing with the new posted up tradition around here, here's how its going down. Play N Skillz are having their 1st annual All Star Weekend even all across the metroplex. Rather than write it all up I'll just post up the flyer and you can peep it for yourself. There's a chance you might see me there so if you do then says whats up. So whats going down in your area this weekend that you're going to be at?
Eventually you'll all catch on and realize Im not asking if you'll be watching tv or scratching your ass. Im trying to get you to post up whats hot and happening this weekend, not next weekend or next month in your area so that people can get and get some real hip hop.
So here's the flyer if you're around the metroplex and want to check it out. I'll be at something else on Friday night most likely and have some pics or video of that and then if I hit up this event on Saturday I'll get some sh!t to share with you all.
I dont know what to say about this one, you already know that Master P is kind of in his own world these days and he's promoting an upcoming movie, 'Black Supaman.' Might actually be a little bit funny from the looks of it, so you can check out this comedy piece, Part 1 of Master P Theatre with Doug Benson, who you might recognize currently from NBC's Last Comic Standing tv show.
Another note, don't forget that Chamillionaire 'Hip Hop Police' video is supposed to premiere on BET today so as soon as I can get my hands on it I will. Here's a short behind the scenes clip from Cham himself on the video shoot.
So you've read the rumors going around about this new Pimp C interview that was about to drop. You know I'm not the one to get in and float around about rumors so I went and got that official straight from the source. That's right courtesty of TrillSouth and Ozone Magazine it's the Official copy of The Chronicles of Pimp C.
Yeah, he said that sh!t and even more, so hit on the link and head on over and get the full copy of that sh!t and then let us know what you think, cause there's plenty to talk about on this one!
Update: You can also peep the audio interview he did about the controversy over this article on a local radio show in the ATL where he aired them out proper once again.
And here you can quote me directly from TrillSouth "And if you ask me he’s calling it straight game. Truth is most of these rappers are fake and talking big and faking beefs to sell records. They’re controlled by the game, not controlling the game. Pimp C has always spoke real if you’ve ever heard him speaking. When I met up with him in Tyler he did the same. During his show he stopped and talked straight to the crowd about real business for 20 minutes in the middle of his set. So chances are if you dont feel what he’s saying then you’re one of those fakes he’s calling out."
So this week I noticed MTV started a feature about who the hottest MC in the game is and they're doing a top 10, annoucing a different MC each day. They started it off with #10 being Jim Jones and so its with this I ask my questions to you.
Is the hottest MC in the game from the south?
Who is the hottest MC in the south?
How many of MTV's top 10 do you think will be from the south?
What is your top 10, from the south or the whole nation?
So hit the comments hard and let the whole nation know if you think the hottest MC in the game is from the south and who you think should be in their top 10! These questions are so hot even this guy wants to know the answers!
Im not one to get into the bullshit of spreading rumors as others do and I dont have to mention any names. Yes Lil Flip did turn himself in on a felony charge and there was much speculation regarding a felony credit card charge. So for the record he did turn himself in, and was shortly after released on a $2000 bond.
To hear people say they have their sources and this and that bullshit and start spreading rumors is just as bad as the haters that never have anything worth saying. The charge was related to a airline ticket purchase and a claim by the owner of the card that he never authorized the purchase. For the record Flip claims to know who did it and has named the man. The man denies and this will likely see its way to a court date unless someone comes clean before then. So you gossip girls can gossip over rumors and the people that try to pollute the internet with them in order to gain a little attention for themselves.
If this was really a story you would have heard it from me and now that it is more of a clear story you have heard from me. So there it is.
And to finish off the weekend of the mans birthday I'll post up a little video of the man himself on the turntables working a little of his magic. You haters can keep on talking sh!t about something you cant understand. It's not about being the best DJ ever on the tables. DJ Screw was a pioneer of the style of the south, mainly Texas but it got a lot bigger than that. It's about those screwed and chopped tapes and cd's showing up everywhere. Artists releasing albums that included screwed and chopped whole discs of their album. It's not about the fake bullsh!t beefs that run around now. It was about the people, the music and having a good time. RIP DJ Screw, now here's a clip from that SU4C DVD, and if you dont know what that is you definitely can't hate on the man.
We'll get back to more on the whole dirty tomorrow, this is a screw weekend.
I got in late tonight and didnt get a chance to post this earlier, but I wanted to say Happy Birthday DJ Screw, you would have been 36 July 20th. But the music and style and spirit of what you did in the short time you were here lives on and gets bigger by the day. Real artists still do real things for the music and the people on the street and we still know who the King of the South is regardless of what the fu
Im going to grab my 3 in the morning CD and bang it all weekend!
So Im sure alot of you have already downloaded the new Chamillionaire Mixtape Messiah 3 mixtape and even maybe the DVD as well. So here's your chance to use the comments and post your review and let everyone know what tracks you like and dont like. I've got my Chamillionaire Mixtape Messiah 3 Review posted up and you can read it, I'll also tell you the tracks that I liked the most were 3, 7, 11 and 22.
So what did you like and what didn't you like, and is this something that you're going to play for the rest of the summer or just until something better comes along?
Uh oh I found this brand new mixtape making the rounds and had to share it because it's got a little something for everyone. How about some Rick Ross, Young Texxus, Lil Jon, Gucci Mane, Juvenile, Jokaman, Chamillionaire and more. As the title says this even includes the radio interview of Gucci Mane apologizing to TI just a few days after his 'What Kinda King' track hit the interview and caused a storm.
So peep the mixtape with some exclusives on it and let me know what you think of your boy Gucci dropping an apology that quickly after his track hit the streets? Seems like some bullsh!t to me.
It's almost here. Tomorrow is the day the that new Mixtape Messiah 3 is going to drop on Cham's site for free, that's right I said free.99, free, that means it doesnt cost anything, did I mention it was free? It's good to see artists with a real love for the music and want to share it with the fans and Cham is one of those type of artists. So here's the album cover and a preview of the tracklisting!
1. Get Ya Burners Out

I'll let this one speak for itself, but I posted a few days ago to tell you that they were saying Z-Ro's first performance out was going to be in Austin and it appears as though it went down as planned. So if you peek inside, I'll let you tell me if you recognize the man in the pic from the spot in Austin where it went down this weekend.
I dont have much to say at the moment, but I'll come up with some good stuff later, maybe a new Master P video for you to peep that I've already seen. But for now I'll let Rev X speak on things for a minute, since he's always got a lot to say and a new video came out today. So just watch, laugh and enjoy your morning for a minute.
I know it's not really big news but it came out a few days ago and I figure why not talk about UGK anytime we get the chance. This album has been pushed back over and over and over, but it looks like it’s finally going to be here on August 7th. If you’re in Dallas you’ll also be able to catch UGK performing live on the Rock the Bells tour with the likes of Wu Tang and many others, so you can make it a real big day.
But either way you’ll finally be able to cop the album that’s been talked about for years and been pushed back several times over the last 9 months or so. Here’s the tracklisting and you can see that UGK is going to have something for old and new fans as well as those who still haven’t heard of them, if you can believe there are still people like that. So with that said here’s the track listing just a little over 3 weeks out from release.
I thought I would share this with my North Texas people since I might be in the house myself, but even if Im not there's going to be so much happening that Im sure you'll want to check it out. Cars, women, music, food that sounds like a party to me and it's free to get in, unless you're trying to get your car in the show, then it's $20.
Anyway there's plenty of info in the flyer and if Im there you can say whats up, what it do. And if you're a hater, then you know whats really good, make sure you step up and let me know how you feel. As you can see from the flyer there's going to be plenty of entertainment from Mr Lucci, Mr Pookie, Grit Boys, and so many others that Im not even going to type it all up. So peep the flyer and if you go let me know, feel free to send your pics and if I go you know I'll have some video and drops to share with you.
Feel free to post up any events in your local area that are worth going to, for everyone to check out in the comments!
Word is and here's the flyer to show it that Z-Ro's first show since getting out of lockup is going to be at Spiro's in Austin Texas tomorrow night. So where are my Austin people and are you going to go and check it out?
As of right now the Rap A Lot official Z-Ro myspace still hasnt had an update or login in a few months and theres not much that I've seen otherwise. So will it really happen, is he really out and will he be there, I guess we're about to find out!
Maybe you guys remember where I mentioned the Soundchild Crew in the past out of Arkansas and they're 'Sip My Drank' track. Well they're back again and doing bigger things and have a free mixtape to share with you. So it's DJ Vlad and the SoundChild Crew with 'Tales of a Dying Breed'
Cop it and listen and let everyone on here know what you think about it, the guys themselves will of course be reading and want to hear from you!
Maybe you guys remember me mentioning Kenika in the past or putting up the video of her SXSW performance. Well I've not had in my hands for a minute her new mixtape 'The Diary of a Hood Chick' and if you're on some other sh!t about female rappers then you need to hear it.
I'll admit to you that Im not the biggest fan of most female rappers but Kenika she shows alot more than most women do on the mic, lyrically and with some depth. She's not just a booty dropping bopper from the H who has some sex rhymes, she's a real chick, a hood chick and she's got rhymes about things from her point of view, street life, family, love and the trials and tribulations of living.
Im going to tell you this is a mixtape I've listened to several times and I know she's grinding hard to do her thing and get that shine so Im going to do my best to help her because she's deserving. So let me break it down and let me give you all the link to cop it for yourself, and drop her a message, tell her you read about it on here or my GrippinGrain site and show a real true representer of the H some love. There's hardly a track that I didnt like on here but once you get a copy check out these, and even the intro is hot.
Track 2 'Come Harder' real nice to start off her introduction to the people.
Track 7 'Kiss My Ass' now thats the kind of track I can feel.
Track 8 'Who Got Tha' club type track, see a hater point'em out!
Track 10 'Way Back' the ladies will love this one, but the guys can hear the flow and laugh at what she's got to say cause its real.
Thats just a few, you'll also want to check out track 13,14 and 18, but Im sure there will be more that you can feel.
Stay tuned because I'm going to get an audio interview with Kenika up on my site and give you the 411 on that real soon. I've talked with Kenika and she's 100% real and down to earth, so get in and support real artists! So click her myspace and buy the mixtape and listen to some of the tracks!
Yeah that's right exactly like the title says, the man Bun B has his own blog now and he's spitting that Trill game for all you to read. So if you've been a fan then check his blog out and see whats good and get ready for that UGK to drop August 7th. I think if it doesnt hit the streets for real this time we gotta riot or some sh!t cause I know I've been waiting on this album for way too long.
So speaking of UGK, when did you first hear them and what is your favorite track til this day. I'll say the first time I heard them was when I was going to school at Tyler Junior College and til this day my favorite track is Diamonds and Wood. I still play that on the regular when Im in the slab just riding and trying to get my mind right.
Once again I want to give it a try and let you tell everyone what event has got heat in your local area where someone can see someone from the south performing. No one wants to hear what you're doing specifically, but if you've got an event near you or something thats really going down then post it up and let the people know where to get out and see some real southern hip hop this weekend.
I've got a few things in the mix that hopefully everything works out on so I can drop a few mixtapes on you maybe, a new video possibly, more info about some of the big names that you're looking to hear about and some you might not ever have heard of. And yes for those of you that didn't know, the Trae was pushed back to September and the UGK has been pushed back again this time to August 7th. I wish I could tell you why one album would be pushed back so many times, but I can't get the real story on that one yet.
So make this sh!t work and tell everyone whats going down, whos going to be there and where its going down anywhere in the south. Me Im relaxing this weekend, no parties, I'll be at the car wash getting my shine on and hoping it doesnt rain for the 22nd straight day in Texas!
I almost forgot, Magno has got a track he wants to share with everyone (download here) and I got a message from him tonight, hopefully we'll get something poppin real soon to share on here.
And so the news dropped on Tuesday but I waited a couple days to get see if I could get word from COUNTRI BOI himself and let him tell you whats up. If you haven't already heard of the man here's the release with a little info to read and a link to some music on his old website. Im sure you can look forward to hear more of his tracks featuring other bosses like Rick Ross and Slim Thugg.
Although a native of Dallas, TX, at the very young age of 2 weeks, his
mother moved their family to Los Angeles, California (Athens Park), shortly
after the passing of his father, due to a terminal illness. Growing up on
the West Coast , Countri Boi got involved with the L.A. gang lifestyle. With
all the trouble he was getting in, his mother moved the family back to
Dallas. Growing up on the West Coast and spending his teenage years in the
South, Cuntri has combination of the two backgrounds gives him a style all
his own.
"I want to give respect to those who put Texas on the map and thank those
who supported me. Being on TVT Records puts me next in line to rep my
hometown to the fullest,² says Countri Boi. ³I speak from my heart and TVT &
Keeplock Entertainment gives me the freedom to put those words to beats
anyway I like. Your gonna love my album because it touches on all coasts and
will respect the Keeplock grind.²
³We wanted to team Countri with Slim Thug and Rick Ross to show that he is
the next up Boss and ready for primetime,² says TVT Records President, Steve
Gottlieb. ³Countri Boi¹s charisma and raw honesty will help him powerfully
represent the Dallas hip hop movement.
And heres a link to some of his previous work, Im not sure how recent it is.
Tell me what makes T.I. the King? I see this man beefin with many and talking himself up to be the greatest thing in the south, is he? Tuesday only sees the release of 2 notable southern rap artists both of them from Atlanta. One of course is T.I.v with 'T.I. vs T.I.P.' a battle between the two versions of the man who sees himself above the competition and has decided an album to battle his only real competition would be against himself. The other release is that from Pastor Troy called 'Tool Muziq' which had a slight amount of controvery but not big hype.
So back to T.I. how did he get to where he can claim the status of the King of the South and did he earn it and is it true? It's late night or early Tuesday and I check out the iTunes music store and what do I see in the hip hop section, see for yourself.
Yeah that's right you're looking at iTunes, or should it be called T.i.Tunes today, oh wait it is if you read the top middle banner? Damn near everything on the whole hip hop page is related to T.I. well at least the middle of the page and the top banners. What did he do to deserve this status, have you seen a Lil Flip day, DJ Screw day, will there be a UGK day because UGK has got way more credit in the game and the south than T.I. will ever have?
It's all about him being the perfect artist for a major these days. He plays the game, does the dance and gives them what they want. You want pop tunes, he'll give it to you, you want beef with another rapper, he'll do that too, you want him to get on MTV and BET and give them the 2007 version of the shiny suit, he's in there and all over that TRL sh!t.
You tell me what you think, are you buying the T.I. album, have you drank the kool-aid and gone in on letting media tell you what you want to hear instead of you telling them. When you look at iTunes for music today, you see T.I.'s favorite albums, favorite videos, favorite films and you know what, that man loves himself if you see what I'm saying. So speak up people and let me know what you think and let the media know who the real King or Kings of the South are, and I do believe they're from P.A.T. and the Land of the Trill!
Too bad there wasn't a video for this sh!t, so you'll just have to close your eyes lean back and hear it.
DigiPimp - T.I. ain't got a thing on the real kings!
It took way too long but the video has finally surfaced, I even dropped a message on the Grit Boys themselves and they didnt get me a copy, but here it finally is. So peep this real Texas sh!t and let me know what you think, you can bet the guys in the video will be checking out to see what you think.
Man its Sunday, its hot out and theres not much going on worth talking about for a day or two so enjoy a video starting with a new one. It's your boy Coast with a new video Hennessy and Cheetos.
