Old School Lil' Flip Day, Quit Hatin The South

Alright I see a lot of ya'll feel like hatin on Lil' Flip lately. Well seeing as that he is one of the main dudes who got me real interested in Houston hip-hop, I'm gonna have to back the dude up. I don't know a single damn person who didn't jam that "I Can Do That" song back in 2000 when Flip dropped The Leprechaun. Oh yeah and by the way that CD went platinum. Then Flip dropped Undaground Legend in 2002, and everybody was jammin "This is The Way We Ball." Oh yeah and by the way that CD went platinum too.

I love how Flip starts the video off by telling his CD player to "play track 20." That technology must've bombed, cuz that is just about the stupidest fucking thing I've ever seen.
Next Flip dropped U Gotta Feel Me which was sorta like his national debut. I heard the song "Game Over" about 50,000 times. Not that it wasn't a bad ass song at first, but that shit got old after 6 months of radio play, being on every 10 minutes Haha. This album went platinum twice, and that pacman beat was stuck in my head for 2 years. The other single was "Sunshine" which I didn't really dig, but apparently a lot of other folks did because I saw the music video 20 billion times on MTV and BET.

Lil' Flip and Z-Ro dropped the CD Kings Of the South in '05, and surprisingly not that many people went out and bought the album. I know I did. Any of ya'll who haven't heard that one, it is a fuckin classic. Ya'll know that Flip and Ro collaborating is some straight fire. The CD was made during the whole Lil' Flip vs. T.I. beef, and a lot of the songs rip T.I. a new asshole. Thank God that beef is over because I was so sick of hearing those fools go off on eachother about "who is the king of the South?" Fuck that. Anyway Flip's new album I Need Mine drops on the 27th of this month (3/27/07). Pick it up.

A lot of people hate on the south but I can say I like a lot of the music there and I love the energy of the south. You know what i love most about the south you see black folk doing their thing there not only is Flip and Chamillionaire and cats like Ti and Mike Jones are making records they are also doing good business outside of the music business Slim thug also and many more southern artist. I like the fact they also work together and help each other sure some had beefs but they worked them out. Thats something you don't see in LA or NY maybe thats why your seeing more smart blacks moving out of those cities into the new south cities such as Orlando FL, ATL, Houston, Dallas, Nashville Tenn. And NC and SC and Jacksonville FL etc. The black influence is fading in LA and NY and losing steam in Chi town and NJ while in the south it's booming for black folk. I don't see this southern takeover in the rap game going away for a long time because in the south black folk are coming into their own sure it's some problems but your seeing a lot of us black folk coming into our own. Also much props to the Black Colleges I love the south we built the south it was built on black slave labor and the civil rights movement opened the door for minorities and it was started in the south so when you diss the south your dissing your roots. I tell artist from the east and west don't diss the south worry about your product and tell your fans in your city to support your indi scene like they do in the south. In the south cats buy the indi shit like hotcakes why you think southern artist are getting deals? So stop hating and try to develope an indi scene in east and west to help fuel your products. I moved from LA to the ATL from the rust belt to the sun belt I made the right choice LA is dying in black culture influence. I love the south.
