First, Z-Ro gave us the bad news that he's leaving the game because of the industry's (read: Rap-A-Lot's) shady-minded business nature, now Scarface (aka Brad Jordan) has confirmed what we already knew. I think you should be worried, really worried that Scarface--the only 'King of the South' (sorry, Tip)--is leaving this rap game for good.
Though Rap-A-Lot Records has released three Scarface albums in the past three years: 2003's My Balls and My Word, 2004's My Homies and 2006's My Homies Pt.2, the legendary Houston, TX lyricist says 2002's The Fix was his last solo recording. No more classics here. Mr. Scarface says he'll never record solo material again."I'm not gon' rap no more at all. Shit, this is not a good business to be in. I'm sure Rap-A-Lot will be releasing a lot of stuff that I did earlier or make stuff. After Rap-A-Lot released Balls And My Word I knew I wasn't never [gon'] do another album again. They just took my old songs, changed the beats and...all that shit that never came out. Just like the My Homies shit, I didn't do that," Face explained to SOHH.com. "The Fix was my last album. I'll never record again. I'll fuck with my group. Another solo album, no?
You see, I always had a bad feeling about that 2Pac/Scarface album they're marketing as 2Face. That's why I asked if y'all had any intention of copping it. My skepticism increased when someone alerted me that the 2Face project is merely a collection of old Face/Pac songs--more like a compilation of both rappers' greatest hits. I didn't know what to believe until I read this:
"That [album with] Tupac stuff, all that shit I hear about, I ain't got shit to do with that."

Now that you know the deal on that 2Face album, would you still buy it? With 'Face headed for retirement home, who do you expect to step up to the plate? Is it safe to say that Face has crossed his prime and a retirement is only appropriate?

Y'all can't really listen to Scarface. All of his verses on The Product album is better than all the garbage you hear on the daily basis on the radio and TV. Hell, even Scarface's verse on Ray Cash's Bumpin My Music is tighter than 99% of that trash coming out.
Just like T-Cool said, The Fix is classic, but Scarface is not the type of rapper you can market to mainstream. He's not going to make club tracks or talk about hos and jewelry. Any cat with a lil bit of hood in him, will respect Scarface. He's like the OG on the block who shoots game for free.

Personally, I feel that the fix was a classic so for him to bow out on that is a good look. However I do feel that he had some good songs left in him. Maybe he will still continue to do solo "songs" on the group albums, but in any rate, If I Never hear another "solo" song from face, I'm good Cause I got all his c.d's and they all bangers in my eyes.

Im number one fan of the man, and im glad he left the game. Fix was a milestone, a grrreat album. What a way to leave the solo game. I hope Face is producing many tracks in the future, he knows how to do it. The man is a genious. Musical genious. Listen to Untouchable, the instrumental work is awwsome. The product will do albums too in the future, there we can enjoy Face lyrical talent too. My dream is to someday meet the man himself.

Geez I've read every post here and I just had to make a comment. I grew up with Rap back in the early 90's, In the UK here we never got hardly the amount that you guys got and UK pop music is real serious rubbish. I have never liked commercial rap aimed at the younger generation. The problem in the UK is that Rap isnt promoted and I find it annoying. Now just to set the record straight I am a white guy but hate white music. I grew up with Black people and the black culture. The problem we have here is that we dont get told what goes on over your side of the pond with regards to the rap industry or How things really are there.
We have to rely on rap artists to tell us how things are there through the lyrics and tye rhyme. I guess my fav artists go way back to Public enemy and Ice T and a few more through to Biggie and Dre and of course snoop, There are alot of good artists out there too and I think we should support the ones that are still making records now. I must admit though half of what i see on the uk's MTV base isn't really my cup of tea as we say in england, I find it too tame and far too commercial but I wont diss it as its not fair for someone to diss an artist just because its not their flavour !!! I must say though that I have always liked Scarface and I've got alot of his cd's and I wish him luck what ever he does.
Other favs of mine are Redman and method man to name a few.
