SOHH Gyant's Randomness: T-Pain "Buy You A Drink Remix" **Free Download**!!

tpain.jpg

I’ve pretty mum regarding Konvict Muzik recording artist, T-pain and his new song “Buy You a Drink”.

While I have always had luv for T-Pain’s music I was just on the fence at first about this song. That is before I heard this new Remix.

SOHH.Com Town Hall Meeting: Hip-Hop In Need Of A Change Part II

SOHHPIC.jpg

The comments have been crazy regarding the “Hip-Hop Is In Desperate Need Of A Change!!!!” post. And I’ve been reading every comment. Some people got the point, others missed the point entirely, and some people just got way off topic.

But the most important thing is that we’ve opened dialogue and that’s one of the most important aspect of this entire controversy.

There were so many comments about the current state of Hip-Hop that I decided to post a few.

Bow Wow, Crime Mob, And Mims Not Fuckin With ATL Anymore?!?

CONCERTBULLSHIT.jpg

So what is wrong with this picture? It was announced on Monday that MIMS, Crime Mob and Bow Wow were hitting the road to support their albums and hopefully pull in some cash since their records aren’t selling. But, when I looked at the dates and locations, I didn’t see Atlanta on the list anywhere. What’s up with that?

SOHH Gyant's Randomness: Top Atlanta Mover And Shakers In Hip-Hop!!

If you frequent the Midtown to Downtown area then you’ve had to open up a Sunday Paper. And in this weeks edition they have compiled a list of the Top 40 celebrity mover and shakers of the jewel of the south’s music scene.

Surprisingly there are more then just celebrities on this list which was created by my dude Kevin Forest Moreau.

apachecrowd.jpg

36. APACHE CAFÉ
Its former incarnation, the Yin Yang Café, was the city's neo-soul capitol, helping to launch stars like India.Arie and Anthony David. Apache puts its own spin on that tradition as Atlanta's nexus of quality soul, hip-hop and spoken-word performers.

Who was the first person to break the story on TI and Tiny? That’s right me, and is anybody giving me any credit for it? HELL NO!! That’s how this business is. Sometimes, it can be one of the most grimiest and cut throat businesses out there.

Oh well I aint tripping because all this does is add to my plight that blogging will soon take over newsstands and publications sooner then people realize.

Damn everybody calm down! I been getting tons of emails from people pissed off because I hadn’t posted the new video by DJ Khaled feat. TI, Rick Ross, Akon, and LiL Wayne.

I figured that since it was shot in Miami and DJ Khaled is also a Miami DJ (on Power 99), that our Miami blog would have handled this one. But to be honest, I’m not sure if we even have a Miami blog anymore. Do we, yo Miami blog where you at?

Shawn J From Feild Mob In Jail, Do We Care?!?

shawn%20j.jpg

Just as I ended my legal woes, Shawn J from Field Mob got himself pinched in Jacksonville Florida on March 27. Sorry for the late report, but hey it is what it is.

Shawn was allegedly arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest. But for what exactly is unclear, how the police got involved with one half Field Mobb in the first place. While the nature of the crime is a mystery, what is known is that because of the nature of the charges, he's not eligible for bail in Duvall County

SOHH Gyant's Randomness: BET'S Spring Bling Travels To My Old Stomping Ground!!!

If you weren’t aware this year, BET decided to take “Spring Bling” 2007 even further south to the hood and my ole stomping ground-Riviera Beach, FL. There isn’t much difference between West Palm Beach and Riviera. There considered by most to be the same city. The only difference between the two cities is skin color. I aint gonna lie Riviera Beach is the hood. You only go there to get ya dime or nickel bags of weed, or to go get a good ass hair cut.

Anyway, BET touched down there last weekend for their yearly spring event where the likes of Lloyd, Omarion, Rich Boy, Tigga, former America’s Next Top Model contestant Toccarra, Bobby Valentino, Pretty Ricky, and other semi famous celebrities came out to support the fleeting broadcasting station.

(My arch nemesis Bobby Valentino touched down in the sunshine state.)

Top 5 Reasons Why Hip-Hop Is Dead!!

HIPHOPDED.jpg

My Girl Queen Princess did an interesting female perspective on why many argue the fatality of Hip-Hop. As you all know this debate is always a good one. When I read her shit, I was impressed at how well she put her thoughts down.

It’s pretty dope. I wonder why we don’t see more women in Hip-Hop. I remember when Foxx Boggie, Kim, and Da Brat were all on the scene, the shit was getting a little exciting. Hell even Angie Martinez looked promising for a minute…I said a minute.

Here’s her shit, check it out.

Chopper City Out On Bail!!!

kevin%2Bbarnes.jpg

Where in the hell have I been? Has anyone else heard about this shit?

Kevin Barnes, Jr., also known as "Chopper" and "Young City" from MTV's Making the Band Season I & II posted $100,000 bail on Aggravated Assault charges in Gwinnett County, Georgia last week (week of 2/26/07). Young City's new record label, Diamon-Cut Ent., posted the $100,000 bond and through its legal representative Julian Sanders, was instrumental in mounting a defense to what many feel are baseless and frivolous charges. Young City, in a show of sincere gratitude, commented,

"Diamon-Cut came through for me when it seemed I had no way out. I felt like 'Tupac' being rescued by Death Row Records. That's what family is for. I gotta ride for those who rode for me. Diamon-Cut is where I'm at, and Diamon-Cut is where I will always be!?"

SOHH Gyant: Can I Make It Right? I Got 8 Ball And MJG As Well As Rich Boy For Ya!!

8BALL.jpg

What’s good Family?

I call you all family because no matter what I put down in black and white y’all still come back and keep Sohh Atlanta one the most popular blogs on one of the most pioneering Hip-Hop sites on the planet, and I appreciate it.

Though most of y’all wont dare admit it, I know y’all love what I do. The numbers don’t lie and neither do I. But I also realize that my constant hatin can be quite redundant so I’m going to remain mum, as best I can, on the posts for the next couple of days.

As you all know Rich Boy’s album came out yesterday along with our own country singing sensation Lloyd. Since a lot of you guys reacted so negatively to the free tracks I provided from Lloyd’s sophomore effort, I wouldn’t dare put tracks from Rich Boy’s new lyrical effort on the site, although they are all over the internet.

SOHH Gyant's Randomness: Fat Joe Needs Help!!

This is just another random post that I decided to go with. With the Summer season right around the corner it’s time for us all to get into the gym and “Work It Out”. In my mind, yesterday was the kick off to the Spring/Summer season. It was so nice that I just went walking up Ponce De Leon, and down Peachtree Street. Fellas and Ladies, it ya havnent gotten ya body right for the new season, you betta get on it.

But back to Fat Joe.....

By these pics, it looks like Fat Joe needs it more then any of us. I work out 6x a week, and my body aint no where near the size of Joe, and I don’t even take my shirt off in public. I rock wife beaters, or tanks.

I think its time for an intervention, because as he gets older his body is going to give out on him. We all remember Big Pun dont we?

What’s good everybody,

Well if you were trying to get your leak on yesterday with a few tracks from Lloyd’s new album Street Love I hope you saw the post early. My editor removed them I’m assuming after being contacted by the record label.

I have to admit that I am very surprised that there weren't more people who were against me posting the music. I guess the music industry isn’t as bad as people say. Some people still want to go out and buy records.

Sidebar, did you play the lottery? Check ya numbers today could be the day!

This Is My House! Kanye Snatches Rich Boys Beat, and The Roots Came And Wend And I Got The Pics

What’s good everybody. Well yesterday’s comments on the G-unit post were interesting to say the least. I got accused of being homosexual, I was once again asked to resign, and this groundbreaking, and extremely popular Hip-Hop site was accused of hating on G-Unit.

All the comments were appreciated, and the most important thing that I valued was the fact that everybody got their points across by being respectful. While some of you got out of hand, overall you guys kept it clean.

I got a “Poppin” or “Floppin” for you kind of. On the heels of Rich Boy doing his thing, with the explosive southern single “Throw Some D’s”, it looks like Kanye “to tha”, decided to snatch the beat and make his own version. He also shot a video for it. What y’all think? Is it disrespectful to snatch another up and comers beat and make a buffoonery out of it.

We're Gonna Change The Pace A Little Bit On SOHH Atlanta Today: Hip-Hop:Beyond Beats And Rhymes

CNN Puts Hip-Hop On The Defense Part II

SOHHPIC.jpg

Touching back on the post I did on Friday regarding CNN’s special on Hip-Hop “Is it Art or Poison”, I found some video footage on youtube.com with popular radio personalities Ryan Cameron, and Elle of Atlanta’s people station—V103.

Since CNN premiered their straight to the point special, Hip-Hop has been on the defense in a big way. Rappers and fans of the innovative, and often times, toxic music genre have been flooding in calls in major urban markets to express their opinions about society’s negative feelings towards rap music

It Looks Like CNN Has Put Hip-Hop On The Defense!

JAYZROCAWEARDINNER1.bmp.jpg

Wednesday night CNN’s Paul Zahn did a special on Hip-Hop, asking the question: "Is it art or is it poison?" While the argument remains a constant discussion around water coolers, radio shows, and open forums, Hip-Hop is a multi billion dollar industry, selling one in 5 CD’s. White Americans make up over 80% of Hip-Hop CD and concert sales, while Latino’s and African-American’s make up the remanding 20%. Last year the Hip-Hop industry made 47 billion dollars, proving that the genre has a huge impact on the recording industry and society as a whole.

Though there are many aspects to Hip-Hop like party rap, gospel rap, social awareness rap, and inspirational rap. The most visible aspect is the overtly sexual and misogynistic rap that seems to dominate the billboard charts. And, that’s where the "question" arises.

Lil Boosie Needs To Hire An Accountant!!

lilboosie10.jpg

This is one of the reasons why white people sometimes get more ahead then we do when it comes to finances. In this video, Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie is showing us how spabovian he really is as he proceeds to take out his stash of cash and flip it out on the street for everyone to see.

For those who don’t know, Splaboo is what Michael Jackson calls black people. I’m not lying to, it’s in court documents. I thought the outrageous title was so ridiculous when I first heard it, but so humorous that I adopted it into my own vocabulary

Where’s the fucking loyalty?

I hate to be unprofessional about this, but I have to let you all in on something. When I posted the Lil Scrappy entry on Friday 2/09/07, I found everyone’s post very interesting.
Everybody had good points that were brought up, that got my mind running on an idea.

The idea, which was posted today on Sohh Atlanta and Sohh Houston’s blog was meant to have healthy dialect between Atlanta and Houston’s readers. However, it would appear that not everyone was on board with the idea. It seems that Sohh Houston felt that he was pressured, by whom is not clear, to post this idea on his blog.

Instead of posting the question in a positive way, he blasted the idea totally by saying

Which City Can Claim Responsibility For The Explosion of Southern Hip-Hop?

SOHHPIC.jpg

I had great time reading everyone’s comments this past Friday. One comment in particular stood out in my mind so much that I’ve decided to post a blog entry about in conjunction with Sohh Houston. Over the past 5 years, the south has been a major influence in Hip-Hop. However, which city is responsible for the explosion remains a hot topic in the streetz, and on blogs throughout the south.

From UGK, Scarface, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Lil Wayne, Master P, Cash Money, 8 Ball & MJG, Triple Six Mafia, Ludacris, Trillville, and countless others-have all contributed to the advancement of the southern Hio-Hop culture. But the argument raised by many is "Which city actually runs the south?"

Sexy Atlanta Siren—Ciara is gracing yet another cover this month and it’s King Magazine.

I’ve got to say, I think the princess of Crunk & B music’s appearance on the cover of the hip-hop men’s magazine is a real good look. Though she isn’t showing her ass on the cover like others before her has. She is still showing her age, and dishing out a little sexiness with the lollipop.

Rasheeda Got Me Wanting Her Bubble Gum. Plus, D12 Signs Decatur Artist KB

rasheeda1.jpg

Renowned rapper RASHEEDA has been satisfying the musical palates of hip hop heads for several years now and the musical fruits that she bears just seem to get better with time. Her hip hop highness has been cranking out spitfire, take-no-prisoner rap songs since the early 90s, back when she was barely a teenager herself and most of her peers were just shunning their pigtails and bobby socks.

Since that time, shes not only ruled supreme over the Crunk Kingdom but she has also established herself as one of the sexiest women in hip hop, unafraid to cut to the chase in her music and say what every woman wants to say and every man wants to hear.

This Is A Public Service Annoucement!!!

To all who support Sohh Atlanta I appreciate you. I’ve come in, changed a few things and challenged a lot about Southern Hip-Hop, this booming metropolitan—and the rap game as a whole. I realize that I must be a hard pill to swallow with me not being from Atlanta but, I have to admit that I’ve been taken aback by some of the outrageous comments that have been made about me or the work that I do. Acts of violence, racism, and the over all disrespect has become extremely overwhelming.

At first, I entertained the negativity because, for me, I love the disapproval. In life people hate on other people for absolutely no reason. And I learned long ago that what people think of you is really none of your business. However, by me responding to each and every negative comment that has come my way, I have allowed it to reach a fever pitch and I feel it is my duty to attempt to curb, if not stop the overzealous haters.

At the end of the day Sohh.com gets millions of hits a week. I can sit here and pretend that some people’s four or five negative comments a day affect Sohh Atlanta’s success, but in actuality it really doesn’t. I, nor are my other blogger colleagues are graded on comments. We are graded on consistency.

Love me or not I consistently bring you videos, news, events, gossip, and fresh new talent daily. I make a commitment everyday to get this information to my audience while also holding down the extremely popular O1LT.com I don’t take either site lightly. What I have tried to accomplish as being your Atlanta columnist is to expose you to more diverse feelings and opinions. If everyone in Atlanta, and the world, thought the same and acted the same what kind of world would we live in?

Overall, many of you have been extremely supportive, and for that I thank you. And though I will strive to elevate Sohh Atlanta to the highest it can possibly be—I will no longer entertain or respond to ignorant, disturbing, and completely outrageous negative remarks. The only thing that I can do is—do this job—and do this job to the best of my ability.

Now that’s all over, let’s get on with the news.
