Plies Big Bro Is Out The Pen, What's Gonna Happen To The Florida MC's Career Now? + Fans Pay Tribute To Bow Wow's Retirement Announcement [Video]!

I guess its safe to come out now. Whew, some people can't handle the truth. But I digress. I was cruising the blogs yesterday when a story caught my eye. It seems that Plies' incarcerated sibling Ronell Levatte a.k.a. Big Gates has flown the coop. Will the mini rappers career survive?

In case you're late, Gates has been serving time in Florida due to his alleged involvement with a shooting incident at a 2006 Plies & Lil Boosie show in Gainesville, FL. He was charged with six counts of attempted murder. Firearms were found in the vehicle he was driving, which was registered in his name (and he was a convicted felon already). According to Gates, after being confronted with 90 witnesses the state planned to call at his trial, he took a plea agreement of 3 years (I'm sure some of you would like to meet his lawyer) and although he has now been released, still will remain "heavily monitored" for several months. Rumor has it that Algernod aka Plies is actually the good boy of the family. Word is the hobbit like MC is very well spoken and quite the scholar. Many people whisper that Plies "hood story" is very much inflated. He's ALWAYS surrounded by police officers and private security when he's at events & concerts. So now that Big Gates is out the pen, am I the only one wondering what's gonna happen to Plies?

Plies is a top rapper with millions of bucks in his pocket, or at least I'm assuming he's got millions. He's one of the most hated rappers in the game, which clearly means he's doing something right.

But one can't help but wonder what's going to become of Plies career now that the orginal version has been released. I hear Plies' is working on a double CD [man that dude is really trying to get done with his recording contract ain't he], and is also working on a reality show.

At the end of the day people can say all they want about the carbon copy, but at least he came in the game to do what many rappers don't; make that money and f*ck all the bullshit.

But I wonder if Gates release is gonna interest Plies fans one way or the other.

]]> Aight, well I'm officially excited for Asleep In The Bread Isle but it's taken a lot for me to get to this point. His single "I Love College" was catchy but just not my deal since it sounded like he struggled too hard to a backdrop that most rappers could carry with ease.

Every release I have heard thereafter, this guy has improved his game. He carries his flow similar to...well you know. When his delivery is sped up, the similarities between the two are hard to ingore but it's Asher's choice of subjects that differentiates the two.

I'm sure many of you have been giving Cassie the screw face every since she premiered her new look late Friday night. But for those of you who haven't seen it please don't rush to look because its pretty bad. Why that young girl gives Diddy so much power over her is beyond me. But I digress.

But its abundantly clear that the fleeting singer's new radical look is oozing with desperation for attention, so let me oblige her request. While every generation has their own set of artists that supposed to take the music forward, nobody can deny that there is a lot of artists today who seriously need to collect their pink slips. And after thinking long and hard SOHH Atlanta has compiled a list of artists both in Atlanta and beyond who need to SERIOUSLY hang it up because it's over.

Cassie clearly needs to hang it up! The singer, who we all know owe's her career to Myspace and other oral talents, splashed on the scene a few years ago. Unfortunately for her, the horrific performance of 106 & Park has left Cassie looking like nothing more then a piece of eye candy that you'd mostly likely forget after right after meeting her. And If the old saying still proves to be true that your first impression is the MOST important one, then Cassie ruined it.
Some would argue that all the bad boy star had were her looks. But since she's compromised that now what? While this new look is on all the blogs now, I have yet to find one blog post, comment, twitter, facebook, or myspace comment that's positive. Everyone is saying "WTF?" Which says two very important things:

A. Cassie's career is better off dead. And B. Diddy is one clueless, and out of touch old man.

Which leads me to my next pick for an artist who needs to hang it up..

Sean Combs, aka Diddy, P.Diddy, Puffy, h-o-m-o-s-e-x-u-a-l [allegedly], take your pick, is as about as out of touch as Octomom . As of late [like, 8 years], Diddy has gone from being a music mogul dominating the charts, to becoming a reality star, which ironically is where celebrities careers go to die. Just as Vivica A. Fox.

However, Diddy still thinks that he's the Puffy from the 90's. His whack reality series "Making The Band" has failed to generate one real hit since its inception. Has some of the "talent" from the show been able to generate some fame, yes. But something tells me that without the drama from the MTV series nobody would be buying into that crap.

Let's do a quick assessment:

Cassie = failure
Danity Kane = failure
Cheri Dennis= failure
Janelle Monae= failure [I love you J, but I'm trying to prove a point here - nothing personal]
Diddy=failure

Puffy do us all a favor, give it up, homie! You're starting to become the old man who still goes to the club with his pants hitched up to his stomach rocking church shoes still trying to kick it to the ladies. It's just NOT a good look homie.

Just pour your vodka, and spray your cologne, but chill with the music bruh.

Y'all already knew this n*ccas was going to be on the list. I won't lie, I used to be a fan of Bow Wow when he was a kid. How could you not? A cute kid + Da Brat, among others, ghost writing = success. The little guy couldn't do anything wrong. And he's got the bank account, or at least he used to, to back it up.

But nobody can deny Shad's career disappointments as of late. His CD's aren't selling, nor have they for quite some time. He wasn't included in the new "Fast & Furious" movie, there's no endorsement deals, Wendy Williams ethered him on the radio, Gyant's raked him over the coals, Soulja Boy called his new sales "karma" - The world is over him. SOHH why can't he get the memo and just fade into the background and find the next "Bow Wow" to live off of?

Bow Wow if there is any inner belief that you still got what it takes to make music and remain a viable pop star let this blog clear it up for you. YOU'RE FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anything more makes you nothing more but a mockery of hip-hop. And is that what you really want your legacy to become?

And Speaking Of Legacy.....

Though Mr. Dupri and myself have gone back and fourth on the blogs over the years, I genuinely like the mini-mogul. But ones feelings can't block the sharp heartless reality we all call TRUTH. 2009 has proved to be a disappointing one for his career. SOHH far this year JD has been let go from his esteemed position as Def Jam, his historic "Welcome To Atlanta" sign has been removed from I-75 in Atlanta, Da Brat is in jail, Xscape is - well you know, AND I hear the future of So So Def is hanging in the balance.

And if you didn't know Jermaine Dupri was one of the influential contributors to Bow Wow's new album "N.J.C.2."

If you add all those up you should get = don't let the door hit you where the good lord shouldv'e split you.

I got love for everybody over at Grand Hustle, but there's a few artists over there that need to get cut now that Tip's going to jail for a year. Big Kuntry King failed miserably in letting the world know that it was "his time to eat". The tubby belly, business casual attire, and over all introverted personality failed to gain any interest outside of the city of Atlanta.

And if that wasn't bad enough, I remember seeing Kuntry in Lennox maill at the Mac store rocking some white socks with open toed flip flops and the word 'loser' immediately came to mind. If the old adage says you have to spend money to make money, then I'd like to think that you have to look like a star in order to be a star.

Kuntry isn't a star, thus can't be taken seriously, thus has to be cut from the roster.

Xtaci is another Grand Hustle duo that needs to be dropped. I would waste time telling you all why, but I think the picture alone says it all.

I got major love for my DTP crew. Though I say some effed up ish, or at least that's what some feel over there, they still respect what I do and never come at me sideways over blog posts. But am I the only one thinking WTF about Lil Scrappy?

First off as a grown man I have a problem calling someone my age 'Lil'. First of all has anyone seen "Lil Scrappy'? There isn't anything "Lil" about him. The name alone bothers me, and others too, or so I've heard.

Scrappy hasn't had a hit in years and I really thought DTP was trimming the fat after dropping Steph Jones, Shareefa, Chingy and Bobby Valentino. But it's like two steps forward and two steps back bringing Scrappy on board.

Who's buying a Scrappy record in 2009?

There's far more 'artists" out there that need to be axed, but I am going to spare them the rush of emotion from coursing through their veins - for now. But I think I am going to be exploring this topic a lot more this year as this recession continues to get worse, and record lables begin to look over their rosters to determine who's the next to go.

Let's find out who makes the cut in the next blog. With SOHH many wack artists out there this could be a weekly feature.

Breaking Blog: Rick Ross Arrested In Atlanta [Video]

Let's say that this is a rumor at this point until prove otherwise....

Rick Ross is probably going to be all over 50 Cent's site soon because I have just gotten word that the large Miami homie has been arrested.

After receiving this information from an unnamed source, it was explained to us that Rick Ross was held hostage because the Atlanta Police attempted to raid the establishment without a proper search warrant therefore Ross and his crew was advised to stay inside the tattoo parlor for over 2 hours.

After a moments times, Ross was let go but 2 members of his entourage( which we will remain nameless) were arrested. [Source]

DeAndre Way has grown up a lot these past few months. And that's NEVER bad thing.

I got a chance to interview S.B. on the tour bus and we got to chop it up about a bunch of different topics. Bow Wow's album sales, overzealous fans, his 40k gucci watch, etc.

It's interesting to me how the entire music industry is catering to the internet. It's a stark contrast to a few years ago.

I can't wait for Wills to drop his new album. I feel like I've been talking about him FOREVER.

I like Willy Northpole alot. He's probably one of only artists I know who reaches out just to check in. No blog talk - just real talk. Genuiness is SOHH scarce these days that's refreshing to get it every once in awhile.

Greg Street Vs Jermaine Dupri AGAIN, T.I.'s Last Performance Before Heading To Prison, B.W.'s New Album Sales Revisited

T.I. suprises the audience at the "Swaaga Like Us" concert. Coming out in a LV hoodie and aviator shades to share the stage with Young Jeezy then Ludacris and finally Lil Scappy.

At the end of the performance T.I. told the crowd he'd see them in a year and a day eluding that this would be his final performance before turning himself in to serve his prison sentence.

Shout out to Hollywood HDTV.

Yesterday I reported that B.W.'s new album was a MAJOR disappointment. The preliminary report insisted that N.J.C.2. had only sold 18k copies nationwide. However, I have the official numbers. And though it's not as bad as initial reports suggested, it's still pretty bad.

Instead of screaming fans purchasing the teeny booper's new album, it looks like nobody cared because N.J.C.2. makes a minor splash on the charts coming in at #18 with 28K copies sold.

Definitely an improvement, but it won't help hm secure his recording contract any further.

In the months to come our struggling economy, and the vast decline in music sales is forcing labels to look at their rosters and cut the fat. Solange Knowles just got the ax over at Geffen/Interscope.

I am more than convinced that Bow Wow is next. It's been a cool ride. I mean sh*t more then 10 years in the game. Millions of dollars, movie deals, endorsement deals, CIARA, Lamborghini's, etc. This dude has done it all.

Time to walk away before its too late.

Sad News: Bow Wow Is Officially A Has Been, New Album Sales A Dissapointing 18k Copies! [Way To Go JD]

You know there comes a point in every man's life when they have to make a choice. Do they stay the course - or abandon it all together to take life to the next level. Well today that notion couldn't be more clearer for the Lamborghini Moss aka Bow Wow aka Mr. 106 & Park because his new album "New Jack City 2" is nothing more than a BIG flop.

]]> According to one of my favorite blogs the the net, Drewreports.com, the teeny bopper MC, that just so happens to be in his twenties, is going to make a tiny splash on the billboard chart.

Here's what Drew is saying:

The full sales report will be posted tomorrow but I just had to mention that Bow Wow Flop something terrible. He came in at number 18 with 18,586 copies sold! WOW! If these numbers are true I am very surprised. While it's no secret that grown people really aren't interested in Bow Wow like that, judging by the videos of screaming girls that Bow Wow and his people were posting all over the internet, I really thought he would have at least sold more than Keri -damn- Hilson.

This is now Bow Wow's second consecutive flop - and I'm overlooking 2005's "The Price of Fame". News just broke today that Columbia recording star Jessica Simpson has been dropped. And she's clearly more well known then B.W.. SOHH if this chick is done, Stevie Wonder can see that Bow Wow's recording career has come to end. [Remember you heard it here first]

Though a dudes Ego is often times considered to be poisoness, I think Bow Wow should really look at ALL that he has done, and walk away with the people having a glimmer of respect for him.

Sunday night Atlanta's top acts went to the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA. Unfortunately, I was out of town so I am not able to bring you th info first hand. However, I heard that the turnout wasn't that good. Check below for all the details.

]]> SOHH Atlanta exclusively that the only a 1/3 of the venue was filled. Ludacris and Shawnna killed it, or SOHH I head. Freddyo is saying that something popped off between Plies and some goons. But since I wasn't there I can't speak on it. But here's what Freddy is saying:

While I was making my way thru at the backstage concert I heard a whisper talking about Plies wasn't going to be preforming so of course me being nosey as hell I had to try to get all the detail. The person said that Plies didn't perform because he had been in an "altercation" earlier in that evening and then I heard someone say he was jumped!!!!...

Just so we're clear I DID NOT SAY PLIES GOT JUMPED! Don't be calling me with no mess!

It's crazy how Atlanta has become so spoiled by our Atlanta celebrities. In any other part of the world if Ludacris, T.I., Young Jeezy would've sold any venue out. But only in Atlanta have we become so overwhelmed with celebrity parties and concerts that many of Atlanta's hip-hop fans is jaded.
