Happy Monday everyone! Today kicks off “SOHH Atlanta’s Own,” the weekly talent showcase featuring today’s hottest unsigned artists.

The response was overwhelming and I am happy to see so many talented people. I have decided to expand the genres slightly to reflect a more dynamic audience. In this weekly showcase I have decided to allow hip-hop, R&B and Neo Soul. There are a lot of gifted people out there and I am glad to give them their moment to shine.

So without further ado let’s get into it....

"Hurt Somebody"

Many male R&B artists fail to find the middle ground necessary to appeal to the masses. Romie Walker is that exception that comes along every now and then. In his upcoming release titled The Blunt Truth, Romie delivers grown up lyrics penned to walk you through his life, through his eyes, in his world. The guys will feel him, because his frustrations on his records "Hush" and "What the Hell Is Love" mirrors some of their own. The ladies will love him on his unconventional ballad "Shoes On," which is an ode to compromising in the name of love (making). His hit single "Home Movie" is very sexy and asks the question that most men have asked their significant others, and those who couldn’t get up the nerve will now have the option to just press play. Finally, on his hit record "Hurt Somebody," you see a man not afraid to show his vulnerable side. Conceptually sound, creative, well thought out tales of love, frustrations and life round out his upcoming project.

The generation gap that exists in music will close considerably with Romie Walker on deck. The youth will recognize and respect his swagger, while mature music lovers will turn him on and turn back the hands of time as they remember how Marvin, Al, Stevie and Sam Cook sang from their heart and soul. The industry will embrace him, because he is undeniably a breath of fresh air. When asked what he’s bringing to the game he replies, “I just want people to remember me for my songs and the way they felt the first time they heard them.”

"Got That Feeling"

MiNus A Few -- This eclectic band of emcees from Georgia emerged from complete obscurity to take their local hip-hop community by surprise. These up and coming wordsmiths created a buzz, bringing an independent brand of what they refer to as "Progressive Hip-Hop Music," to the forefront. Performing in talent showcases, competing in battles, and making radio appearances helped booster an already growing group of supporters. Originally breaking in with the hip-hop collective known as Forbidden Dialect, members Amorphouz and Open each stood out as very animated emcees with incredible wit, gaining recognition on the strength of their clever style of lyricism.

Amorphouz is an intelligent writer with an unmatched talent for weaving words and phrases together. He also is an accomplished songwriter and producer, having written tracks for some talented artist in various genres of music. When asked about how he sees MiNus A Few's place in the industry, Amorphouz swiftly responds with a cocky yet humbling, "I believe we're a
breath of fresh air for anyone who truly loves music."

"85/75 400 North"

Hailing straight out of Roswell, Ga, Young Kato AKA K. Sinatra is one of newest rappers to emerge from the North Metro Atlanta underground rap scene. Young Kato was born in 1986 and raised in the streets of the North Metro Atlanta area and while many of today’s rap artists create a false thug, gangster image of themselves, Young Kato is one of the few new rap artists that truly lived what he rhymes about.

Young Kato, along with Zoe Pesci and other N.A.M. affiliates, offer some of the most honest and real depictions of hood life since OG’s like Scarface, 2pac, 8 Ball & MJG and Ice Cube dominated the rap game. Now, with two hot new singles, “85/75 400 North” and “Addicted to the Streets,” hitting Atlanta clubs and streets, the influence of Young Kato and N.A.M. continues to grow. The next Alcatraz Camp/ N.A.M. mixtape called, “85/75/400 North: The Mixtape” is set to drop in October and will feature these two singles as well as new music from Young Kato, Zoe Pesci, and other Northside rappers

An innovative entertainer, singer/songwriter that goes by the name "Curly Lox" C.LOX for short. Bringing to the table retro-classic old school R&B, laced with a hint of Caribbean flavor and topped with a twist of Hip Hop vibe. All of which has played a part in forming me as a man and an artist.

As a songwriter, I've always had an ear for infectious beautiful melodies that stick in your head for days after you hear it and that is how i tackle a song writing project. Melody over lyrics or vice versa has never been issue although it is a marriage that should not be taken likely. My music is my personal diary of literature and poetry told through powerful melodies that anyone can relate to therefore transcending race, age, gender, or creed

Last night Screamfest 2007 touched down in Atlanta and I’m sure it’s no surprise that I attended the star studded concert. True to form, I have my rundown on what was good, what was bad and what the hell 50 Cent was doing there?

I was just kidding with that last part, but read my rundown from last nights festivities.

The good thing about the concert was the abundance of love and energy the audience gave off. The Phillips Arena in downtown Atlanta was packed. Yung Joc, T-Pain, Lloyd, Ciara and T.I. set the stage on fire. I can’t hate (and you know I love to do that) on anyone who took to the stage. Yung Berg, Da Brat and of course the bully of hip-hop, 50 Cent were all guests.

It was no surprise that 50 made a “surprise” appearance on Ciara’s set. Of course Fifty set it off, and the crowd went completely ape sh*t. The powers that B were very clear that media could NOT record the show. I guess the crowd didn’t get the memo; however, because surprisingly one of my loyal readers emailed me these video files they captured from the event.

The bad thing was how the media was treated at this event. Luckily for me Linda Stewart from It Is Done Pubic Relations and Julius Small with Mauldin Brand acted quickly to rectify what was shaping-up to be my most horrific media experience of my career. They found a way to not only supply me with what I needed for you guys, but they also managed to leave a lasting impression. But to the media reps on the four remaning tour dates - I'll pray for you.

1.	Have some hot sh*t. And be unsigned. I mean it, no labels allowed! This is all about INDEPENDANCE!!!
3.	The song has to be an MP3 format. DO NOT SEND MYSPACE PAGES AS YOUR TRACK.
4.	Email your submission to sohhgyant@gmail.com

This showcase isnt just for Hip-Hop it can be Neo-Soul and R&B too.

SOHH.com is a driving force in this industry. Plenty of industry people check out the blogs, particularly SOHH Atlanta on a daily basis. You never know where your music could end up.

Atlanta rapper, Killer Mike talks "Stop Snitching" on his radio show about the taboo topic of 'Snitchin'. As many of you know the topic always leaves many on opposite sides of the fence. Listen to his opinion below.

Do you find this illustration humorous or offensive? Check out the story below. It was ripped straight from the headlines:

Some Jacksonville,FL readers were shocked and angered by a Friday editorial page cartoon depicting a black man with a smoking gun in his hand standing over a bullet-riddled victim. “I didn’t see nuttin’!” said a little girl standing nearby. “Now that’s a good little ho!” said the gunman. Both the shooter and the child wore T-shirts saying “Don’t Snitch!”The cartoon carried a caption: “The new rule of Law!” A billboard in the background depicted more black characters under lyrics, “Rap your life away.”

Expressions of outrage came quickly, including from the local president of the NAACP. “Highly offensive and racist,” is how Charles Anderson described the cartoon. It was wrong to suggest that the growing “Don’t snitch” phenomenon is limited to the African-American community and use of the terms “ho” and “nuttin’ ” were over the top, according to Anderson.

The cartoon came after police assertions that a “Don’t snitch” culture has impeded efforts to solve crimes in Jacksonville. A CBS 60 Minutes segment last Sunday focused on the growing problem, especially in inner-city neighborhoods, and how some rap artists have encouraged it.

“The object of the cartoon was to comment on the rise of a no-snitching culture, something that is widely in the news today,” Clark said.

Gamble conceded that the term “ho” is demeaning to women, but added, “I was making a point that rappers are demeaning to women.”

Listen, I have been telling you all for weeks that Michael Vick was guilty and was going down. I have talked to many people who are close to the football star. As well as people who are close to the NFL Administration.

Well the official word coming down the ranks is that Michael Vick will plead guilty in the in his federal dog fighting case during a court hearing next Monday, his attorney said today.

According to a statement I just received

"Mr. Vick has agreed to enter a plea of guilty to these charges and to accept full responsibility for those actions and for the mistakes he has made. Michael wishes to apologize to everyone who has been hurt by this matter. The legal team and Mr. Vick will appear in Court in Richmond on Aug. 27.":

Stick a fork in him because it’s a wrap. Damn, people can be so stupid. What once was – will be no longer. A legal friend of mine said that Vick will proabbly be sentenced to a minimum of 18th months.

For the record -- there isn't any beef (at least on my end). I'm just a lone blogger with an opinion. At the end of the day I could really give two sh*ts about Bow "Damn" Wow. But I still got to respond to em....

Dear Shad Gregory Moss,

I am honored that you take time out of your "busy" schedule to read what I have to say on a daily basis. But, I find it quite sad and extremely childish for you to have handled this situation in the manner that you have. In case you haven't gotten the memo, I'm a blogger and my job is to tell it like it is. Nobody gets a pass on SoHH Atlanta, and this includes you. I've always looked at my rants to be innocuous (yea look it up) jabs – nothing more nothing less.

Could your anger towards me be derived from the fact that you haven't had a hit record since "Shortie Like Mine", which was mildly successful at best? Perhaps at the fact that R.Kelly, better known as Chester, took your song, edited you out, added better rappers, and made it a smash record? Or maybe it’s because your "girl" played you to take her career to the next level? Could it be that your last album barely went platinum? Maybe at the fact that, with every album you release, you become more irrelevant in hip-hop?

Contrary to popular belief, you don't register on my personal radar and you for damn sure don't register on my hip-hop one either. I only address you every now and then because, like it or not, people do consider you to be a part of the ATL hip-hop scene.

As far as the "interview" comment is concerned, I can't think of a time to where I ever reached out to you for a serious sit-down interview. If you claim to be so addicted to blogs then you'd notice that I don't have a problem interviewing anyone in the rap game. I've had sit-downs with the likes of T.I., Eve, Busta Rhymes, Chingy, Polow Da Don, Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and Ne-Yo - just to name a few. I have interviewed more rappers then you can get to guest on your albums.

Listen! At the end of the day, I know what my role in this game is, but clearly you don't. If I don't buy what you're selling (no pun intended) then I'll say it. For some reason, you have taken this personally and I can't for the life me understand why. If I truly had 50 million stacks in the bank, had the hottest chick in the game on my arm, and had a new record label I was working on, I wouldn't give two sh*ts about some damn blogger's opinion of me. But then again, maybe you truly aren't the person you project yourself to be in the media.

1. I don't believe you are worth 50 million dollars.

2. I don't believe that you and Ciara were ever a real couple.

3. I don't believe anything about Dubbs Records (or whatever the hell you call it) that you supposedly set up. By the way what ever happened with that?

You see through dawg, that's why nobody is ever going to believe you. You can try to use me to promote 'Face Off' all you want, but everybody knows that the album isn't going to sell. How about you take the focus off the blogs and put that energy into making a hit record oops did I say that out loud?

If you ever need to get at me, you have people in your camp who have my math. We could always have that sit down and hash this out like two grown men.

P.S. If this is the best you and Omarion could come up with as a lead single. Then you might as well stick a fork in both your careers now. Because real talk - it's not cutting it. It's not always about the beat homie. People actually listen to the lyrics.

And it also looks like you and SOHH Atlanta have some history that started LONG before I ever came aboard. Check out this 2005 entry here...

A bloggers job is truly never done! Here I was watching a movie when I got an email on my blackberry about a big event happening here in Atlanta in the next couple of weeks (more on that later).

The event is showcasing an independent artists by the name of Vawn aka Mr. HolyHood. And that’s when it hit me; it’s time to bring back “SoHH Atlanta’s Own”.

I get emails constantly about the independent showcase I do from time to time. I enjoy giving my independent artists who grind it out an opportunity to showcase their talents.

Here’s what you got to do:

1.	Have some hot sh*t. And be unsigned. I mean it, no labels allowed! This is all about INDEPENDANCE!!!
2.	Email me a picture, bio, music track and a proper email address.
3.	The song has to be an MP3 format. DO NOT SEND MYSPACE PAGES AS YOUR TRACK.
4.	Email your submission to sohhgyant@gmail.com

If your submission doesn’t have the top three specifications, it will not be considered.

This showcase isnt just for Hip-Hop. It can be Neo-Soul and R&B too.

SOHH.com is a driving force in this industry. Plenty of industry people check out the blogs, particularly SOHH Atlanta on a daily basis. You never know where your music could end up.

The showcase will run first thing next Monday, August 27th, 2007. Get those submissions in. Good Luck!

It was just annouced that Coach K and Young Jeezy have apparently kissed and made up (no homo) and are now back together. If you can recall Jeezy and K parted ways earlier this year, but neither party would say why.

Here's the information I got:

Just before the May release of Jeezy's album with his group U.S.D.A., the pair parted way for unknown reasons. Jeezy's longtime friend, Demetrius "Kinky B" Ellerbee, acted as his manager.

"It's great to be working as a team again," says Coach K. "We're looking forward to making his third album bigger and better."

SOHH...basically Kinky wasnt doing a good job - right? right!

I saw this video earlier this week. When the white people start doing it you know it's time to hang it up.

Everyone make sure you come back on Monday. I'm going to have an EXPLOSIVE video from one of today's most popular rappers....it's not to be missed!
