Since Nobody Seemed To Notice Friday's Post -"Atlanta's Own" Is Back. Also, Poppin Or Floppin Picks Rich Boy- "Throw Some Dee's"

Pastor-Troy-Photo-3.jpg

What’s up Family?

I got some quick news on Pastor Troy....

Rapper Pastor Troy was arrested by Atlanta police Friday morning on an alleged probation violation in Fayette County.

My sources confirmed to me that the 29-year-old performer, whose legal name is Micah Levar Troy, was doing a radio interview with Hot 107.9 radio station when a snitch called police to say that he was wanted on the Fayette warrant.

Troy, a College Park native, is best known for his dividing mixture of religious themes and the decidedly secular concerns of hardcore rap culture.

Officers went to the Hot 107.9 studios on Marietta Street and detained Troy until Fayette County deputies arrived shortly before 9 a.m. and took him into custody. A snitch will do it to you every time.

Developing…..(when I know more y'all will know more).

I hope everybody had a good weekend, I know I did. With all the drama of last week I needed some time to relax. I see nobody really paid attention to my new weekly series – Atlanta’s Own – where I put four unsigned artists from Atlanta on this page for everybody to show your love(or hate) for. Y’all was too busy worrying about The Snowman that you completely missed out on some hot tracks from local rappers who are trying to do their thing. So, since you all missed it on Friday I’m running it again today. Take the time to show your local boy’s some love. Oh and by the way, with all the overwhelming male responses I got, I just wanted to shout out the ladies too. Ideally I want this to be a mixture of Atlanta’s male, and female MC’s. So to all my lyrically laced females out there; submit your shit my way so we can see what you got.

SOHH.COM'S ATLANTA'S OWN IS FINALLY HERE!!

The time is finally here. Today kicks off the debut of Sohh.com’s “Atlanta’s Own” – A weekly series that will showcase the hottest and most innovative Atlanta artists.

When I decided to put together this weekly showcase, I knew that it would be an explosive and innovative idea. With all of Sohh.com’s readers who log on daily to check out what’s hot in hip-hop nationally, regionally, and locally, it seemed like a natural progression for all of Atlanta’s unsigned talent to get massive exposure from arguably one of the hottest spots oh the planet – Sohh.com’s Atlanta blog.

The biggest movers and shakers in the record business check out Sohh.com on a daily basis. So you never know who’s gonna hear what you got to spit. And you better trust and believe that only the hottest tracks and tightest MCs will get put on. If it’s not hot – you won’t hear it. Period!

With such an overwhelming response, I chose four songs by three artists that I thought were just right to bust this shit out the gate. Check out your Atlanta’s Own artists below. But don’t forget, if you got something hot, send it my way. SohhGyant@Sohh.com

1. Bless McFlyBLESS MASKED UP.jpg

Growing up, Bless McFly experienced the best of both worlds. He was born and raised in the rough city of the Bricks until he and his family moved down south; first to South Carolina and then to Atlanta, GA. Understanding that the music business is more than just writing and recording songs, McFly also holds a love and compassion for performing and showcasing his talent to the world. He has a fly swagger and great confidence that can be seen when he graces the stage. BLESS McFLY- “I’M DOIN IT”

2. DAT DAMN DROOP. Check out his track, DAT DAMN DROOP Feat. THE BISHOP EDDIE WONG- "CERTIFIED CRUNK SHIT" here.

3. G-Life1082004401_l.jpg

With a raw and uncut universal voice, and musical influences such as Tupac and Scarface, Atlanta's Own G-Life paints vivid pictures of everyday living in urban America. With songs like "Damn" and "LA LA," G-Life shows his ability to make club bangers. Revealing he is no stranger to the street underworld, he divulges the game in "Swap it Out." And with "100 years/War Message," he also proves he is never afraid to tackle political views, and teach the youth something outside of everyday conversation. Check him out as he responds to Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" G-LIFE- “REPLACE YA” -
-------------------------------------------------------------------

4. V.I.S.U.A.L. aka D.N.A.

D.N.A entered the music scene in May of 1998. His common goals are to share his real life experiences along with his trials and tribulations. He was recently part of the 2005 Vans Warped Tour, and will be participating in other music endeavors. Be on the lookout for this up and coming artist because he has a lot to offer. V.I.S.U.A.L. is trying to restore hip-hop to what it once was -- Real hip-hop. He's ghostwritten for various underground acts that are up and coming like himself. Give his track a listen. V.I.S.U.A.L. AKA D.NA.-"NEVA GONNA CHANGE"

Yo if you think you got that fiyah then send your tracks my way. SohhGyant@Sohh.com

T.I.'s New Video: Poppin or Floppin? The Award for the Worst Hater Goes Too ..., Beyonce Wants You To Bust a Move!!

grand.jpg

What’s up Family?

You know what time it is. We got another video from one of Atlanta’s most popular rappers, TI. Lil dude is like the new Puffy. Do you remember how Puffy Combs was dropping hits like every month at the height of his career? That’s how I’m looking at TI. Though he had a slow start with his first two albums (compared to his current national success), he is living proof to all of us to keep striving.

Here is his new video:
TI - "Top Back" (Remix).
The video is hot and the Grand Hustle crew embraces the southern culture with the big cars, thick women, and our signature playeristic style.

Is it Poppin or Floppin?

TI_-_Trap_Muzik.jpg

What’s poppin fam? OK first things first. I’m assuming that we are all hip-hop heads around this bitch. We all know the albums before T.I.’s Urban Legend don’t count and that’s why I didn’t mention them (though the blog was changed later to appease the whiners). Y’all some touchy muthfuckas and I love that shit. If I got to break shit down like y’all don’t know your hip-hop then I will but, I’m talking to y’all like y’all my peoples.

And with that said, I didn’t think that I would have to give you the history of shit. But it’s a lesson learned. When you assume shit you make an ass out of you right? From this point on I will give you the back history and type all that shit out for everybody aiight? We straight on that now?!?
