Honestly I think your site does have some ahte for the unit, but anyway Scrappy only sold 59,000 his first week last time out. So why is 84,000 a flop for him? Its not like he was a multiplat artist in the first place. I also think that we aren't judging content anymore, we just go by first week sales. i think some people are being too critical of g-unit. Understandably, no artist on their label have gone "platinum", but perhaps the bar is being set too high. In the late 90's and early 21st century , Rocafella did not any platinum artist save Jay-z nd DJ Clue's Professional. This was during a time when music piracy was not as rampant, and record sells on the whole were higher. I think we should take these factors in to consideration.

1. There are rappers and then there are emcees.

2. Young Jeezy and Lil Scrappy are rappers. And they're both good rappers. They'll never be emcees. Sales numbers do make or break rappers.

3. Emcees develop long standing loyal followings based on their skill and content. The fact that people still clamor for the likes of Ras Kass proves it. The fact that I'm still waiting for a 3rd Camp Lo joint proves it. Nobody's checking for Mase or Cam'ron anymore because they were not good emcees....they were rappers.

4. Lighten up on Scrap. The dude's got it in him, but if the community shit's on him for being different or because of his G-Unit affiliation then he'll never blossom.

5. 50 Cent is not a scurge in Hip-Hop. How come everyone hates on 50, but lauds his man Em. Em likes 50. Don't you think? Dre must love him to let The Game go. There's nothing wrong with Fif.

Not just album sales!the size of the budget You gotta think about studio time promotional costs. Advertisement costs production costs distribution costs video costs traveling costs dinners/parties with execs and industry people album art etc. Whether the album is coming from a major label or independent. The anticipation of the album. You need to also factor in the fame/noteriety of the artist is he established or just a rookie in the game? Then you can decide if the album was successful or not!!! Cuz by those factors jay z had the biggest flop of an album in hip hop history! we seen his face everywhere the buzz was crazy the millions in advertisement it was bananas! You almost couldn't escape his face or name! Think about all that money spent whether it was from his budget or from endorsements. It had to be in the 20 mill range. Think of the HP and bud commericals if you think I'm bugging! All for how many albums sold? And scrappy flopped?
