SOHH Gyant's in the Muthaf*ckin Building; And Luda's on "SNL"

What's good family? That's right I called you all "fam" because you drop by this spot daily and show me love or hate just like a real family does.

I want to take this moment to officially introduce myself, my name is LT A.K.A. SohhGyant and I got the official word from the headz of sohh.com that because of each and every one of you, they want me reppin the Atlanta blog from this point on. It couldn't have happened without you all dropping by and reppin the hottest city on the muthafuckin planet — "ATLANTA!!"

I am the owner and operator of an already well known and established website O1LT.com — which is a complete interactive urban entertainment website. I bring you what's "Hot and Black" Mon-Fri in black entertainment. Over there, it's a lot different from here, because on that end I'm the H.N.I.C. but, over here I got bosses. Buts it's cool!!

Take the time to get to know me because I'm for damn sure going to take the time to get to know all y'all. I read the comments daily and the funniest ones will get posted from time to time.

So without further adieu — let's get into this shit hard. I'm bringing the heat from the muthafuckin beginning.

Luda.jpg

From the Academy Awards to the legendary comedy stage, Chirs "Ludacris" Bridges represented Atlanta well by gracing "Saturday Night Live" with his presence over the weekend. If you missed it, you missed one hell of an episode as "Prince of the South" made his acting debut on the well known "SNL" stage. The General of D.T.P. played double duty as both the host and musical performer. I can't lie, Luda didn't have many funny skits but, he made up for it with a lively, ultra hype-rendition of "Money Maker" and rhythmic enthused "Runaway Love" (with Mary J. Blige).

Ludacris had many skits — though most of them fell on deaf ears. Ludacris is better as a dramatic actor; he's not good at comedy stuff. But it wasn't that bad. You know he could not come to the legendary comedic stage without poking fun at super conservative Bill O'Reilly. If you don't recall their beef, a few years ago, popular FOX TV and radio host Bill O'Reilly went on a crusade attacking corporations who had hip-hop artists endorsing their products. In one specific case he called upon his merry band of loyal followers to boycott Pepsi due to their association with popular artist Ludacris. He labeled the artist a "thug" and a danger to young people's minds because of his lyrics, which he cited as being offensive to women and full of drug references, profanity and violence.

Pepsi, immediately feeling the pressure, quickly canceled their contract with Luda, sent out an apology to the American public and a precedent was set, or rather, enforced.

Bill O'Reilly had made his move and put the world of hip-hop and Pepsi in check (or so he thought). However, not to be outdone, hip-hop made a countermove and put Bill O'Reilly in checkmate. Not only did Pepsi renew their association with the artist they also agreed to a multi-year, multimillion-dollar commitment to the Ludacris Foundation and "inner-city youth".

I said all that to say that — you know Luda couldn't come to SNL and not poke fun at Bill with a semi-hilarious parody.

I get re-excited every time I witness hip-hop become bigger and more diverse. As we all know hip-hop is more then just rap songs it's a culture, so when other genres of entertainment take notice, it's always a positive step in the right direction. "SNL" is the perfect vehicle for hip-hop to infiltrate Middle America and become more and more accepted.

Love you all like durags and Timberland boots.

Finally Someone who will Rep the A to the fullest! I caught some of SNL the O'Reilly thing was funny. Luda held it down and it was pretty entertaining. I think we all know Mr. O'Reilly is a hypocrite to the fullest after Pepsi "let go" of Luda they went and got Ozzy Osborn and his kids as Rep and Bill didn't go after them for that? I tried to call him out on his show a couple of times but of course he shouted over me and hung up the phone. Oh yeah First!!

I watched SNL on Saturday and I have to say it....Luda CAN'T act. I'm not hating on him, I'm actually a fan, but dude needs to either get some more lessons or stick to the music. But I have to admit the lifeguard skit was kinda funny.

Posted by: Whateva at November 20, 2006 11:12 AM

Luda wasn't to funny on the show from what I saw, but I missed that O' Rielly so maybe I missed the best part.

(This is how I greet my fam)
Anyway welcome to SOHH.com MOTHERFUCKA!

Yeah Luda's acting was VERY suspect cause he kept lookin at the teleprompter. but i still liked it. It def wasn't worst than Paris Hilton's.

Oh yeah, watch out for some of the southern hate that's gonna spill over from Sohh NY. Them niggas more salty than a sweaty titty.

luda's new album is trash just like i predicted, numbers don't lie. luda sold at least 2 mill on every album so it's clear he lost some people with this new one.

Posted by: J-roc at November 20, 2006 12:18 PM

rap songs sound wack ass hell when you replay 'em wit live instruments for shows.

Posted by: J-roc at November 20, 2006 12:21 PM

No son, luda already shipped plat, it's only a matter of time before he reaches it in sales. and music sales are down all around. Ur favorite artist Hannah Montana is struggling too.

quick question... who is better... eminem or andre 3000? i really wanna know... i just want an opinion from every blog on here...

Posted by: yung-n-restless at November 20, 2006 02:09 PM

bobby drake, shippin plat and sellin plat is 2 totally different. he's only at bout 650,000 and none of his singles are really doin anything, especially for him to get even close double. even your favorite artist chingy "shipped" gold but he only sold 175,000 so far. music sales are down cause niggas been makin garbage albums.

Posted by: J-roc at November 20, 2006 03:03 PM

....please...now let's be real...and no offense intended, but i tuned in to snl expecting to see luda fall flat on his face, wondering how his people ever got him on, with double duty no less, hosting and performing...call me sceptical but i just assumed he had bitten off more than he could possibly chew, however, i am pleased to report that out of the new season's shows this one was snl's BEST fuckin' broadcast all year IMO...! the skits where witty, sarcastic, and funny as hell...luda more than held his own at the white folks house with both his acting and performing...the live music features were hot, funky (the band was fire), tight (them dancing girls was on a dime), and luda was energized and clear as a bell on the mic...now i feel i'm making this statement objectively (i don't own or plan to buy "release therapy", and have a burned copy of "word of mouf" somewhere that someone gave me years ago that i have played only once...)*...but i'm grown and not afraid to say when i'm impressed by something, (so don't anybody bother with spillin' any haterade on me, to each his own...) with all that said, to luda i say: "DAMN GOOD JOB NIGGA!"

*(i do have to admit that i went and downloaded "runaway love" after seeing luda, mary j., and the band bang it out on the telecast tho'...!)

Posted by: yeahisaidit at November 20, 2006 03:06 PM

@ J-roc
Actually albums are down because you can download them for free. Also Luda's alubm is good he will go plat. I fwant talk about garbage lets talk about Jim Jones album or Banks album.

j-roc.
he's already shipped platinum and his album has only been out a month if that. he'll reach double plat like he did all the other times.

i agree with the people who said luda is a better dramatic actor. some of this skits were funny, but not b/c of him. he was a good host and performer though.
