when rap awards are held in ny.....it is respected that it should be held there because it births real rap music

when rap awards are held in cali....it is respected because it gives birth to real rap music.....and though there was east west beef....cali still had respect for the culture of rap and that it was here before cali enetered the musical picture

fuck awards in atl.....the south doesnt wanna respect the history of rap...they have stripped hip hop of its lyrical importance...which is its most important ingredient.....strip that away now whites aren't scared of the music...they enjoy it now...and control the consumer populous

When New York was on top we did not complain we supported them (I still have vinyl from sugar hill in the collection), it wasnt much of a competetion either since nationally they were the only thing popping, now they have a little heat and cant stand the kitchen. We in Atlanta had a underground movement in hiphop since the early 80' so here it is over 20 years later and some of these bloggers have the nerve to say we have not earn our stay. Get a life. If we wasnt to busy trying to take the R&B title from Detroit back them we would have conquered it earlier. And since someone spoke on the lyricism of some of our artist remember that's only one part of the Hip- Hop culture so come again. So before I get off track, the city that comes after us will be the city. And will have the bragging rights. And can say the topped the big 3. ATL/NYC/LA. Also we did it without Interscope being here, Sony or any other the bigshot music groups in our back yard. True Grinding!

I'm from NY and I think Atl is a good pick for a few reasons. DC and Atl are black Meccas with Atl playing a key role in black music. Also, I'm sure costs will be a lot less because we all know BET is notorious for being cheap. Also, the show will be more appreciated in Atl although I suspect the # of A list celebs in attendance will be low.

I am from New Jersey. I love all music and Atlanta, the south in general, have been a HUGE part of hip hop from the beginning. Whats all the hate for? Even 50 Cent knew when he said he had to switch his style up to a southern flow. ATL, im proud of yall. The south needs to shut up for once in they lives and think about what they are doing and saying. New York city has every right to critizize the south and any other region. Forget all about that It's an art form bull shit. It's an art form born in New York. Not Atlanta, not Texas, not Cali, not Chitown, no where but New York. I find it interesting how rappers always talk about how they are finally gettin the recognition it deserves and there is so much looked over talent in they city or region. Why there got to be all this talent after New York comes out with a new form of music and culture in general. Yeah the south is hot right now, but they actin like they have had the most success in this business. They wrong. They think they gettin shine but imagine when hip hop first came out from New York. I will only say that people need to get their genres of music correct. I am from NJ/PHILLY but I went to college in ATL. When I was there we called southern music exactly what it was,"Booty-shake." Bankhead bounce, tootsie roll, "dip baby dip", all of that was considered "Booty-shake" music. And true ATLeins know what I am speaking about. Just because everyone is iced out and wearing the same types of clothes it's not all hip-hop. Atlanta is a beautiful place but it's not hip-hop like that. People never want to give NYC it's props, but they started this shit. That is the MECCA. North, South, East, West, stop frontin on NYC
