So, I Missed Birthday Bash, Cherish Goes From Local To National Buzz

Dammit, man. Ya' boy missed Birthday Bash 11 this past weekend. I was on the west coast, so I need somebody to fill me in on what went down. I've heard a few things about the artists' performances, and I'm sure it was tight -- it usually is.

Moving right along... Question, if I asked you "what group was getting the most spins on the west coast this past week?" What would you say?

614801995_m.jpg
Answer... Cherish, yeah "Do It To It" is killing the radio out there.

The four sisters have the scene on alert and it's good to see. They've been around since 2003 so it's been a long time coming.

I kind of like this group. They are killing it with "Do It." And, I really feeling their song "Unappreciated." I am glad they changed their image from their first song that was released. Atleast now they act their age. Which I love. Still won't cop thd album though. Might burn it on Limewire.

That "Do it To it" shit sounds just like Ciara's "Oh" Same melody, same hook, same beat!

Corny, unoriginal GARBAGE!!!

Posted by: vooooooooooooo at June 19, 2006 10:04 AM

I like the song but I dont really like the group's image. Its "been done"... It does sound like some Ciara shit though, when I first heard it, thats who I thought it was.

i'll admit that cherish sounds like ciara, maybe their cousins or somethin?lmao

Posted by: blowitoutchaass at June 19, 2006 10:29 AM

How can DO IT, sound like Oh? The song OH by Ciara is song slower. I guess some of you do not have rythmn. How can four people harmonzing sound like one other person? Ciara and Cherish do not sound a like.

Posted by: sexycg from GA at June 19, 2006 10:36 AM

i cant tell the difference when i hear the song on the radio. when i first heard do it to it, i thought it was ciara. no lie and still to this day the song sound like ciara

Dem Hoez Sexy!!!

Posted by: ThaK-a-NG at June 19, 2006 10:42 AM

The phrasing of the verses is EXACTLY the same as 'Oh'.

Sad but true.

Posted by: willyjsimmons at June 19, 2006 10:58 AM

How old are these chicks?

If they're over 18, they sexy as hell.
If they're under 18, I take back my previous statement.

This song is garbage though. Is it me or is Sean Paul's verses starting to same?

it's still garbarge

You are in love with Tommy,
Because his last name is Hilfiger,
But behind closed doors, Tommy,
Is calling you a nigger.

But you could care less,
Because you have been taught to dress to impress,
If I ask you about your true history,
You would have to look on the back of your jeans and Guess.

You come up in the club wearing Versace,
Clothes made by a homosexual male,
So even when you say you are straight,
It is very hard to tell,
And for footwear, you wear Timberlands.
Even under the sun,
That same tree that's the symbol for them,
Could have been the same one your ancestors were hung from.

I cannot forget Nautica,
When was the last memory you have of ships,
Coming to North America in shackles,
Being beaten over the back with whips.

And to my beautiful black queens,
Whose creative womb has become barren,
I am confused because your face says Nefertiti,
But your sweater reads Donna Karen.

When was the last time you saw Liz Claiborne,
Conversing with black women,
But as soon as her name is printed on a purse,
To Macy's you quickly go, running.

Ralph Lauren doesn't even look at black men,
Unless they are driving him around town,
But as soon as that slave master appears on the back of a horse,
You put whatever you have picked up down.

My people reclaim your status in this world and in your life,
F.U.B.U. in case you didn't know, stands for (For Us By Us),
Buying black will someday suf fice,
Do you know who owns Timberland fashion?

Well, Timberland is owned by the president of the KKK,
Surprised? Don't be.
Read more books black people,
Always hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
You may not get what you pay for,
But you'll surely pay for what you get.

A lot of truth in that, however, Timerland is owned by shareholders, and their CEO/President is Jewish.

Posted by: White Boy at June 19, 2006 01:26 PM

why is anyone bothering to mention Ciara
SHE CAN'T SING
SEEEEEEEB EVERY LIVE PERFORMANCE SHE HAS SHE CAN'T SING!
of all the artist that people say can't sing she's the worst! bar none, hands down, no debate she's horrible
plus her chest is as flat as a paperback book. I give her 3yrs and she'll disappear.
As far as Cherish I like Cherish
but they remind me to much of 702, 3LW
& Exscape. So I doubt they'll last
sorry ladies your fine as he'll but female R&b groups tend to last but urban Pop group come and go all the time.

Posted by: Banga! at June 19, 2006 01:32 PM

i dont think they really sound like ciaras song oh but come on they are on the same label who cares

Posted by: BENJAMIN at June 19, 2006 01:41 PM

1) To that Jazze Pha sounding the same statement, its called a signature sound. Timbaland has a signature sound (listen to the tracks he produced for Aaliyah). They're supposed to sound alike or you kids will say they are "stans" of another producer
2) It doesnt matter if Ciara can sing. Janet sounds like a 5 yr old in most of her songs but she's lasted for 20 years. Sex appeal ppl.

Birthday Bash was tight, but i like it better at the amphetheatre. Anyway Big Oomp killed it, i swear everybody in the fuckin arena was Westside Walkin all through the aisles and shit it was crazy, and Lil Jon killed it he brought out them niggas from the video, and they killed it they was doin some old Temptaions shit that had the crowd goin crazy, but i have to say that boy T.I had the best set, it was so loud when that nigga came out, then Young Dro killed it, then he announced Yola was when Grand Hustle then he killed. Last but not least thaat boy Jay-Z came out on Jeezy's set, and i swear i couldnt even hear myself think it was so loud, Jay-Z had to stop in mid verse of Go Crazy cuz it was so loud, and he just started laughing and saying Damn Damn! That shit was crazy, oh yeah and it was like Freaknik 96 downtown too!

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON

(Start to Read in a Scottish Accent from Duece Bigelow 2)

When Fake ass niggas Bit "whoomp there it is" with "Hoop there it is", I hate to say that I knew it was wrong, but I stood DOWN

And when J-Kwon and Jermaine Dupri Bit the beat to "Grindin" with "Tipsy", Again I knew it was wrong, and yet again, I'm sorry to report to you fine ladies and distinguish gentlemen, today, that I stood Down.

But what am I to do when I look in my wee daughter's face as she cries and asks "daddy, why does the Cherish song sound exactly like the Ciara song, "Oh"?"

Am I to stand DOWN? No, Sir, I refuse to.

I shall stand up and say "Daughter, the biting as group Cherrish (or the people behind them) deserve no credit or props for this song, because its a carbon copy of Ciara's shit.

(End Scottish Accent)

Yeah, but for real. This shit is unacceptable. ORIGNALITY, please.

Posted by: hatestheradio at June 20, 2006 05:22 AM

Oh and Just cause Maya Angelou wrote some shit, it doesn't mean that what was written is true or even good.

But out of respect for her good work, lets cut down every tree and sink every ship.

Oh and don't eat Doritos cause they are triangles, which is the shape that boats made in the slave trade.

And Don't use Snuggle brand Fabric Softner, cause its mascot is a bear, which represents how the slave owners used to feed black people to bears, if they didn't wash thier laundry, right.

And don't wash your body with Ivory soap, cause it represents how America has white-washed the black man and cut him off from his African heritage.

And don't use Black ink on white paper

And If you are Black, then commit suicide, but do it at dusk to represent that you are taking yourself out of the white man's Light world and going into the Black night.

Oh yeah gillie the kid is the cat from the group "major figgas". They had a song in 2000 called "yeah thats us". if you older than 12 you should remember it cause it reached number 8 on the billboard. before cash money he was signed with suave house. but he never dropped, so he got dropped

CHERISH MYSPACE NAME = MYSPACE.COM/CHERISHSISTERS

Posted by: Chenelle at June 21, 2006 11:35 PM

I have only heard one song from Cherish so I won't judge them as a group, however I must be blunt about "Do It, To, It." Nothing was original about that song just like all the other bullshit on the radio. When one artist come up quick and have a big year, and kinda do their thing, artist that are new are just being introduced like Cherish mimmick them hoping for the same success. Artist today don't have to find who they are as an artist they just have to hit the gym shape up, put on a pound of weave, a ton of make up, and learn to sing a few notes, and they're ready.
If the whole CD is like "Do It, To It," they won't last very long. I wish them the best.
