Too $hort Blows The Whistle On Everybody

too short.jpg

Lately Lil Jon has been spending a bunch of his time gettin' dumb and going stupid in the Bay Area. It's common knowledge that he contributed heavily to E-40's latest project but now he's about to set out Mr. Cusswords himself, Too Short.

Lil Jon produced Too Short's latest contribution to the game "Blow This Whistle" and it's definitely a nice street banger, although it's not in vintage Too Short "beeeyatch" mold.

"My new shit, It's just a fun song about blowing the whistle like a referee, on anybody that ain't supposed to be in the game. It's not a usual Too Short pimp song and it's not too explicit. Just shake that monkey and dance!" Short recently explained.

Yo, I've always been a Too Short fan and I'll even go out on a limb and say that with Jon behind him, he will easily go gold when his 16th album, Up All Night comes out later this year, under the direction of Lil "XXX" Jon. (Yeah I know...Didn't he retire on album number 10?) But whatever man...

My Top 4 Too Short Albums of All-Time

  1. Life Is...Too Short -Solidified his place in history with this album [Toss-up w/Born To Mack]
  2. Born To Mack - Freaky Tales...A legend is born, might be the rawest west coast production of the 80's.
  3. Gettin It (Album Number 10) - He retired on top with this one and went out like Michael Jordan on Byron Russell. But he just couldn't stay away.
  4. Short Dogs In The House - In The Trunk, I Want To Be Free, So You Want To Be A Gangster...'nuff said.

I remember when bruh came out in the 80's on a tour with NWA in philly. This dude aint get through 2 minutes of his set before being booed. Nickas wasn't trying to hear that shiet...but i always respected and liked his music. Shiet was definitely different, a true O.G. in the game.

Some of you young cats need to go check out some of Too Shorts late 80's, early 90's joints. Look for a song called "The Ghetto." Short's shit is simple, but dope.

Too Short was rapping before most of these young cats in the game were even born. I've been a Short fan from jump and its just amazing that in this time of shine, diamonds, and bling that Short is still relevant. He is one of the most underrated mc's of all time and never gets the respect he deserves. He is on his 16th album, not to mention the numerous guest shots he has done in the past. That in itself is a testament to his staying power. You don't put out 16 albums if you: 1) don't have skills and 2) try to change your game to fit the "industry". I respect Short and alot of other vets in the game (i.e. Cube, Rakim, Scarface, etc.) for that very reason. I can't wait for the day when "real" hip hop starts getting love in the streets again and not this BS thats being pumped through our radios and videos. One Love!!

Posted by: BigRob at April 4, 2006 4:00 PM

Well back to Too Short. I'm feelin the song can't wait for the album. But what I'm definitely feelin right now is the I'm in Luv with a Stripper REMIX that features Too Short, Twista, Pimp C, Paul Wall, R. Kelly MJG and of course T-Pain and Akon. I HATE THE ORGINAL (who doesn't) but you won't find too many remixes to fuck with that one. That's what you call a collabo

Posted by: mIZE2 at April 5, 2006 10:06 AM

I liked it. It WILL bump in the clubs.

Look, we ALREADY know Short isn't the best 'lyricist' in the game. And so FUCKIN what.

Can't nobody pimp on wax like Short.

When you talk about the history of HIPHOP on the west coast, you start with:

1.) Ice T
2.) Too Short

Short had six BACK-TO-BACK platinum albums.

some rappers have poor ryhme skills so they "sell" their personas like too short or snoop. Snoop was dope when he first came out, then he got on this pretty-boy pimp shit and his records suck. He seel records only because he's snoop. just like too short. On every record too short guess appeared on with another rapper, than other rapper has out flowed him ( except for lil'jon on the Bia-Bia remix)

Posted by: The Black Truth at April 10, 2006 4:03 PM

He must be doin sumthin right, 8 gold records an 1 platnuim..20 years later he still makin money..How many other Rappers can say that..How many gold plagues does Fishscale or Catfish or whatever his name is have...
