Last, pay attention now. As far as I know the west came at yall and NY being NY had to set the record straight, OK that's all good and done. But when they started taking away from yall sales and shine NY was bitchin and complaining about how they are not lyricist and are killing the music just like they are now, period. Nah we don't get offended, I guess we just don't get why it is being said. In our minds NY never went away, other places just got a turn in the national limelight, and now NY just needs to get back to the innovating process that made it so sucessfull in the first place. NY is the birthplace and anybody that doesn't pay homage to that has no business calling themselves a fan of hip hop. We have beefs down here too, but it is handled differently than up North and out West. Beef to us is a real problem with somebody not just trying to get their attention or record sales. TI and Flip had a good old fashioned fist fight in Texas because they really don't like each other. It's not about record sales. Yeah they make songs about each other, but they can't be in close proximity with each other either. Luda and TI was having problems, but they saw each other and talked about it like men and squashed it. It just SEEMS that up North beef is just for show. I'm not really up on West beef so I can't really comment to much on that. It is a given that not everybody is going to like each other or each other music, but as long as you respect the next man and he respect you it's good.

I know why dudes started hating once you said you was from NY. This is not an excuse, but I can remember when I was younger my cousins from NY would come down here with their friends or I would go to NY and they would call the rest of me and my cousins from down here slow and stupid. Let me explain why the East Coast is finished. Simply look at the latest census data my friend. The nine states with the highest black populations are in the South, Midwest, and one on the west coast (California).

Hum, I thought NY was the mecca of Black Folk?

We are all one. Most people from the deep south went to midwest factory towns. Most Mississippi and Tennessee folk went to Chicago and Indianapolis. Georgia and Alabama folk went to Detroit and Cleveland. Louisiana and Texas folk went to the West Coast.

I'm from Atlanta by way of Miami and Chicago. Go anywhere in the midwest, they don't relate to East Coast music, they bumpin music from either the Midwest (Kanye, Nelly, etc.) or the South (their roots). When the West Coast was doing it big, most of their support was coming from the South (seeing how NY niggas couldn't stand another region making money off of "their creation"). Listen to David Banner's song "Westside".

So anyway, the only people listening to East Coast music, is a small minority such as yourself. Nas is hot and that's about it my friend. NY rappers are corny as hell right now (Juelz Santana comes to mind...) Come with more Nasir Jones, Talib Qweli type shit and you may get a couple more record sales... But the lyrical rappers y'all proclaim are not out anymore the same as Outkast, Goodie Mob are not anymore. Hip-hop has taken a new route which is not lyrical at all, it's all dope music.
