The Red Carpet Premiere of ATL

Yes Sirrr ya' boy is still getting his head together after yesterday's premiere screening of ATL at Atlantic Station. It was big no doubt, so many people came through and showed love, it was good to see. The red carpet was thick (as in Serena Williams thick...yeah she was in the building).

Who was there? Let's see Michael Vick, Too Short, Monica, Serena, Jeezy, T.I, and really it was just a who's who of Atlanta shindig, and the after-party down the street at Fox Sports Grill was on point too, but that's another story.

But yeah, I finally got to see the movie. After T.I came out before the movie began and thanked everybody for their support we got to see an above-average movie that held your attention throughout.

I won't reveal specifics about the movie, I don't want to ruin it for you. But if you were waiting for T.I to fall flat on his face as an actor, it didn't happen. He held it down, ya' boy has a bright future on the big screen.

Was it strictly a skating movie? Not at all, it deals with the block, puppy love, dreams and aspirations, and just the overall ups and downs of life growing up in the inner-city.

It's no doubt a real good family movie, meaning I can see every age group from kids to grandparents enjoying it. Chris Robinson did do a helluva job representin' ATL from the grillz to the slang to the ol' skools.

Oh yeah, and I gotta apologize for even mentioning this movie in the same breath as Boyz In The Hood. Though it was a cool lil' movie, in no way does it compare on any level to Boyz In The Hood. It's a differnt type movie altogether. I was living in L.A. when Boyz came out and believe me there was nothing like it.

Much respect to BIGBOI...I hope the movie does well...but on to some REAL TALK...

lol...ya'll can keep lunchin if ya want....I labbed that GFK last night.....speechless....Production= Bubonic Plague Ill....GFK dartz= razor blades....I was totally not feelin the Pretty Tony album...I thought it was sleepy...so I wasn't even expectin this..plus everybody else(HH heavyweights...Com, WU, Kweli, Mos' album was okay) has been so lack luster lately..this shit just took me by surprise...Doom gave that ni99a some gems on the production, as well as JD and Pete Rock...Family just raised the standards wayyyyyy back up..NY should be proud and HH should be proud...Lord knows that I am not particularly a fan of Jay-Z, but I am lightweight startin to get happy about the Def Jam situation...I rememeber reading an article about a yr ago w/ him saying that his vision was to get HH back to making music in regards to the artist that he was singing....After hearing this album I definitely have a little bit more deference for Jay, not as as emcee but as an HH visionary....This album is like soooo 95...GF kept that gritty WU feel that we haven't heard in a grip...Ya'll younger kats can keep wastin ya time listen to fake ass ni99az and keep postin g-unit's cheesebag, phony, airhead ass lyrics if you want to.....REAL HEADS/NIGGAZ RECOGNIZE REAL!!!

"I feel like I am better than Biggie and 2Pac. I know how to make songs and I am able to be a voice in the revolution. 2Pac was the voice in the revolution but he didn't have any club bangers like I do. Candy Shop and Disco Inferno got major spins in the club. Big was able to make hit songs but he wasn't a revolutionary. Whatever Puff said, Biggie followed. I'm more of a leader."

A lot of people that are posting about how “gay” and “weak” some one is for skating, probably are little young miggas that think the manufactured gansta’s are there hero’s. Let me hip yall little chumps to the game… most of your rappers that sing or rap about being hard and from the hood no longer live in the hood and go bowling and skating and travel the world and have fun… most of your favorite rappers that rap about slangin rock have been to jail and are on probation for some dumb shit that they did when they were poor and now don’t even deal with that. A lot of your hard core gansta rappers are really telling a story of someone else’s life or someone else wrote there stuff for them. They are entertainers…. Now I say all of that to say that there is nothing wrong with liking them but don’t try and take on their persona. If you want to have fun there is nothing gay in that. You can be real and still be a kid or even an adult. I am going to see the movie because it looks like it’s a good positive movie and we need more of that. So little ones stop letting the famous dictate how you feel about life. Go outside and play tag with your friends and sit on the stoop and listen to music and talk about your goals…do something positive with your life cause if you don’t… who will.

For those of you who heard it, this is the article Dee Lee was reading
this morning on a New York radio station. For those of you who didn't
hear it, this is very deep. This is a heavy piece and a Caucasian wrote
it.

THEY ARE STILL OUR SLAVES We can continue to reap profits from the
Blacks without the effort of physical slavery. Look at the current
methods of containment that they use on themselves: IGNORANCE, GREED,
and SELFISHNESS.

Their IGNORANCE is the primary weapon of containment. A great man once
said, "The best way to hide something from Black people is to put it in
a book." We now live in the Information Age. They have gained the
opportunity to read any book on any subject through the efforts of their
fight for freedom, yet they refuse to read. There are numerous books
readily available at Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.com, not to
mention their own Black Bookstores that provide solid blueprints to
reach economic equality (which should have been their fight all along),
but few read consistently, if at all.

GREED is another powerful weapon of containment. Blacks, since the
abolition of slavery, have had large amounts of money at their disposal.
Last year they spent 10 billion dollars during Christmas, out of their
450 billion dollars in total yearly income (2.22%).

Any of us can use them as our target market, for any business venture we
care to dream up, no matter how outlandish, they will buy into it. Being
primarily a consumer people, they function totally by greed. Theycontinually want more, with little thought for saving or investing.

They would rather buy some new sneaker than invest in starting a
business. Some even neglect their children to have the latest Tommy or
FUBU, And they still think that having a Mercedes, and a big house gives
them "Status" or that they have achieved their Dream.

They are fools! The vast majority of their people are still in poverty
because their greed holds them back from collectively making better
communities.

With the help of BET, and the rest of their black media that often
broadcasts destructive images into their own homes, we will continue to
see huge profits like those of Tommy and Nike. (Tommy Hilfiger has even
jeered them, saying he doesn't want their money, and look at how the
fools spend more with him than ever before!). They'll continue to show
off to each other while we build solid communities with the profits from
our businesses that we mar ket to them.

SELFISHNESS, ingrained in their minds through slavery, is one of the
major ways we can continue to contain them. One of their own, Dubois
said that there was an innate division in their culture. A "Talented
Tenth" he called it. He was correct in his deduction that there are
segments of their culture that has achieved some "form" of success.
However, that segment missed the fullness of his work. They didn't read
that the "Talented Tenth" was then responsible to aid The Non-Talented
Ninety Percent in achieving a better life. Instead, that segment has
created another class, a Buppie class that looks down on their people or
aids them in a condescending manner. They will never achieve what we
have. Their selfishness does not allow them to be able to work together
on any project or endeavor of substance. When they do get together,
their selfishness lets their egos get in the way of their goal. Their
so-called help organiza tions seem to only want to promote their name
without making any real change in their community.

They are content to sit in conferences and conventions in our hotels,
and talk about what they will do, while they award plaques to the best
speakers, not to the best doers. Is there no end to their selfishness?
They steadfastly refuse to see that TOGETHER EACH ACHIEVES MORE (TEAM)

They do not understand that they are no better than each other because
of what they own, as a matter of fact, most of those Buppies are but one
or two pay checks away from poverty. All of which is under the control
of our pens in our offices and our rooms. Yes, we will continue to
contain them as long as they refuse to read, continue to buy anything
they want, and keep thinking they are "helping" their communities by
paying dues to organizations which do little other than hold lavish
conventions in our hotels. By the way, don't worry about any of them
r eading this letter, remember, 'THEY DON'T READ!!!!
