TI Finally Drops King: Will It Be An ATL Classic Though?

Had 100 1's/Bought a slab and flipped another one/Sold my lil' 380, Eazy said I need another gun/The lil'est in the trap and got it poppin' like some bubble gum --T.I from "I'm Straight" off the King CD.

tip.gif
ATTENTION! This is not a leak....

Roll out the red carpet, A King has finally arrived. Let me stop playin'. But on the real, T.I dropped King today and if you haven't picked it up yet, get in the whip with somebody who has. The whole disc is nice.

Well...95% of it is nice. Tip reached on a couple songs (I'm Talkin To You & Stand Up Guy) but he needed some abstract tracks to keep the CD balanced I guess. I'm hearing the word classic tossed around but we'll have to wait and see on that.

Here's a quick rundown of the disc in a nutshell....

Tip begins the CD with "King Back" a thunderous track expressing his street cred' and lyrical bravado. Then he jumps into "Front/Back" with UGK, as he uses the old Front-Back-Side-to-Side sample...how can he lose with that sample right?

Your boy Jamie Foxx drops in on "Live In The Sky"a song that kind of puts you in the mindset of "Still Aint Forgave Myself". The creative production continues on with "Why You Wanna" as he uses the old Crystal Waters house sample (lada-di-da-di-da), I see this being one of the next couple singles released without a doubt.

My personal favorite is "I'm Straight"w/Jeezy and B.G. I'm doing some serious riding to this right about now. Then you have "Undertaker", "You Know Who", "Top Back", "Get It" produced by Swizzy and "Bankhead" which all do the trick to make this a must-buy disc, one of the first from the mainstream "A" in a minute.

CLASSIC? NO. GOOD ALBUM ? YES, QUIT THROWING THAT WORD"CLASSIC" AROUND MAN ,

Posted by: IMSOHOOD at March 28, 2006 06:49 PM

So far I don't think its a classic because he put the mixtape The Leak out and there are a lot of songs on there that would have made The King a classic. Don't get me wrong I like The King but it aint my favorite T.I. album. If you haven't heard the leak yet you should pick it up. Your favorite bootlegger proably got it and have been slinging them as the new T.I.

Nah, it's not a classic. It's pretty tight, but it doesn't hold a candle to I'm Serious. I personally like Juve's cd better. It bumps hard in my car. Controversy Sells by Chamillion and Paul Wall was tight, too. Well, enough with my ramblings...

All you up north niggaz are hatin b/c we took this rap shit and ya'll can't create anything worth buying. Why hasn't anyone been talking about a "classic" album from a "EAST" rapper?? HOPEFULLY THIS SHOWS THE SOUTH WHY THIS IS NEW YORKS MUSIC......LYRICS OVERALL IS STILL THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT......YA'LL SOUTH DUDES GOT IT WIT THE GIMMICK RAP.....MAD ADLIBS, YELLIN IN THE BACKGROUND TO FILL IN FOR LYRICAL LACK......BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY IT'S HARD TO SEE THE SOUTH GIVING THE GAME CLASSICS BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY.......THE SOUTH DONT SAY SHIT!

So why the hell would yall south niggas even be thinking about the north or new york? Why would yall even mention us when we aint mention yall? Get off our dick and stop hating so hard. No the album is not a classic just like SOHH Southern said, but its good. Stop throwing the word classic around like its nothing. Its not a good look...makes yall look like yall desperate to just label anything a classic nowadays. Know what a classic is before u label it. Now the shit that was leaked could have been close to a classic or a classic though.

Posted by: Hells Kitchen at March 29, 2006 09:43 AM

That T.I. cd is hard but it AIN'T no classic. The nigga T.I. has a nice flow. He can ride a beat and the nigga got strong mic presence. Respect that real shit.

To all my people from the South, quit mentioning New York on an Atlanta blog.

Get money or get out the way.

Posted by: chevy g. hustle at March 29, 2006 09:51 AM

dude is kool, but he has a bad ear for beats....the album is good, but by far is it a classic....

Posted by: just tryin at March 29, 2006 10:07 AM

I listen to a lot of different artisit. My favorite being Jay, Pac, and ALL the LOX memebers. There are only a few artists who when I hear something I want to hear more. All the artists above do that, and now TI. My first album of his was Trap Muzik. I loved that album and went BACK and copped Im Serious. Copped Urban Legend, and yesterday King. I love just about everything he puts out because you can tell its real. The south is gettin their shine now. King is not a classic, but its consistent with TI's status as one of the games BEST period. He has some of the best lyrics across the board. He does reach on a couple of tracks like Stand Up Guy, and Why you wanna, but what artist doesnt have a few tracks you dont like. Overall the King album will help solidify TI's status. In 10 years we will miss artists like him!!

Posted by: MNmaddness at March 29, 2006 10:07 AM

I think TI is wack. Anybody who thinks this is a classic needs to be shot.

Posted by: Mo Money at March 29, 2006 10:13 AM

T.I. is the second best rapper from the south behind Lil Wayne, both them niggas CD's is hard, and they both can spit but i gotta give the edge to Weezy

Posted by: Realest at March 29, 2006 10:15 AM

^ Stop bitin my name nigga.

Posted by: Mo Money Mo problemz at March 29, 2006 10:16 AM

I am a TI fan, but this album is far from a classic, if you ask me. He just says and talk about the same shit album after album. Its kind of like if you heard one of his albums you have heard them all. It is obvious that he has the talent to make a classic, but he needs to be more creative and step outside the box a bit. I have been listening to King for a few months now and I even took a few songs that I liked from each album and made me a mix CD and its all sounds the same. He could have made a song about some serious social issues to change it up, or threw some West Coast Flavor in the mix to give you a different look. Instead its the same ole same. Not to say it not a good album, because it is, but very short of a classic!

Posted by: King Kong at March 29, 2006 10:17 AM

Yeah Wayne is better than T.I. thats why T.I. said "since all u niggas the king, where your palace at?" Weezy would END T.I.'s career

Posted by: Mo Money Mo problemz at March 29, 2006 10:17 AM

If you don't think this is an instant classic u crazy. The Cd has great balance it got da hard shit, party shit, get u through ya day shit, and shit for tha ladies. The nigga is the truth..Its not what he's saying its how he's saying it. U can tell when a nigga lives what he's talking. And if u talk it all away just remeber "I'm Straight"

Posted by: Bunz at March 29, 2006 10:32 AM

Weezy is REAL NICE!!! His last three albums have been HOT!! He and TI both got it!! I wouldnt say one is better than the other, but they are both damn good!! (Weezy would not end TI's career)

Posted by: MNmaddness at March 29, 2006 10:38 AM

King is a good C.D. but I am definitely feeling The Carter AND The Carter 2 over this one. Weezy is hungry for Greatness and he works towards that both Carter's proved that. Weezy heart was in the Carters because he felt he had something to prove to those who didn't classify him as hip-hop. King is a good CD don't get me wrong but you can tell someone who's hungry and someone who's comfortable. When T.I. made Trapmuzik he was hungry and people still would prefer to bump Trapmuzik than the other ones because it came from his heart. On Trapmuzik he had something to prove. King is better than Urban Legend but neither one showed his maximum compacity as a rapper. I feel he's Hollywood now he's comfortable he has nothing to prove cause he THINKS he's the king of the south. Weezy gets my vote anyday over TI.

Posted by: notaclassicbutok at March 29, 2006 10:40 AM

T.I and Lil Wayne are both hot, I think Da Carter 2 wasn't nearly as good as he's first one , and I like Da King album alot but it's not a classic though. On the real though, that nigga Jeezy's album was a classic in my book.Anyway Lil Wayne can't end T.I's career, first ooo that nigga said on record he's down with the King T.I
Eastside ATL Zone 6 Stand Up
and oh yeah them New York niggas be hating first!

Posted by: Jwillz at March 29, 2006 10:54 AM

dis album was t.i.'s worst...da beats suck and its just ok...urban legend is way better

Posted by: Jeron at March 29, 2006 11:14 AM

Black Thought should be a hip-hop legend by now. His name alone screams ‘genius.’ As conceptual as it gets, Riq Gees has been laying it down lyrically for over 17 years without repeating himself…ever! By today’s fan’s standards, however, his excellent command of the English language on the mic ranks him below every chart-topping puppet fastened to the strings of a major label. But that’s all about to change, since Jay-Z has given The Roots 100% artistic freedom at Def Jam Left—their new home for the upcoming Game Theory.

Posted by: Essex at March 29, 2006 11:20 AM

That shit is dope it sound betta that urban legend. Classic maybe by the south standards but overall hip hop. NO SIR. I don't give a fuck what none of yall country say. Ghostface's Fishscale will crush the king. And I aint no south hater by far.

Posted by: mchueyp at March 29, 2006 11:43 AM

I agree with King Kong & Mike, I own all T.I.'s CD's and both King CD's I think TI is overrated cuz he didn't go platinum till Urban Legend becuz he started that beef shit in order to get platinum status so that King of the South bullshit would work he is a mainstream artist now becuz of beef, Trap Musik had four videos and didn't go platinum I am not a TI hater I speak facts niggaz do the diss thing to sell records but most Southern artists diss on mixtapes not Mainstream gimmick albums unlike T.I., cuz he needs a buzz, stop comparing his PG-13 ATL movie to rated R Boyz in the Hood, all yall want jump on his dic and say he got all this street credibility but know him personally, I could really give a fuc bout his credibility is its all about music to me all yall dumb niggaz wanna prove how gangsta TI is, Im from Washington,DC and he got his pimp cup broke & his ass whopped by a DC legend Big G(tall skinny dude wit cornrows on THE WIRE) I give a fuck bout a rappers credibility to me most rappers aint real anyway DC niggaz dont rep North East West or South we just listen to music not jump on dic Lil Flip, Ludacris, Rick Ross, Trickdaddy, SUC, Z-Ro all got TI the only person out that list he got at was Flip and Luda but Luda fried him in Stomp, If he is so gangsta why doesn't keep squashing beef, when I real niggaz have real beef u can't squash it, TI is not the king of the south, TI is one of the best coming out of the south. He need to keep it moving and stop all the beefin, TI and Flip beef so much u would think that was married, He look gay to me he got a silk bandana on and a purse in "what u know about that" Z-RO is the king of the south... I fuck wit grown man music... Handle my own beef solo, one deep every day of the week...if there a problem holla at me

Posted by: Chunk at March 29, 2006 11:47 AM

Are you saying T.I got his ass beat by a D.C nigga, i know that's not true i would have heard about it, anyways Luda and T>I agreed to squadh the beef they said it was a misunderstanding. The only nigga he beef wit is Flip, and the nigga Flip the one keep talking shit, look at Flip's last video. So get ya facts straight Chunk, go listen to some lame ass D.C Go-Go music or something, fuck boi!

Posted by: Jwillz at March 29, 2006 12:12 PM

The north is not doing shit now. Let BIG rip and let Jay-Z stay retired. What the fuck has the north done in the past 6 years? Ya'll are some regional haters. Get your weight up and stop relying on these weak ass niggaz to save your region. Bottom line is sales and the North is not doing it. Papoose and Jea Millz are good, but are they marketable? No! The south is talking about shit that we go through and its obvious that everyone likes b/c it sells! You North cats kill me you hate on our movement, but yet yall want to move down here. Outkast comes with some different shit and yall hate, but guess what that is 1 of 3 hip hop albums that went "Diamond". Learn to appreciate music and open your ears and understand that there is more going on in the world than what is happening on your block! Fuck 50 for saying that BS about the south.

Posted by: Kaiser at March 29, 2006 12:14 PM

TI squashed beef wit Ludacris, Lil Flip, Trickdaddy and Rick Ross, why does TI keep squashing beef if he so gangsta, Becuz all that shit was for publicity real beef aint' something u can put a beat and a hook to, that something u gotta handle when it come, not get on BET MTV and magazines dissin, he ain't the only rapper that does this fake ass shit to sell records, If u really gonna kill somebody u shouldn't be tellin the whole world that shit thats why dumb niggaz always get caught faster than smart niggaz, thats why you should handle ur problems by yourself and don't tell nobody shit bout it cuz when one person knows ur biz everbody knows... ONE DEEP

Posted by: Chunk at March 29, 2006 12:20 PM

J Prince is the one that squashed the beef with TI and Flip. TI did it of the strength of J Prince. I own every TI record and heard 95% of the mixtapes that he has put out if not all. I can not recall him ever dissing Trick and the Rick Ross thing is something that you read on allhiphop which today if you check says they aren't beefing. Most of these beef get started by the other person coming at him except maybe Luda, but that was on some person back home shit. I don't think any of his mainstream albums have any diss tracks like a "piggy bank" where he is calling out nigga's. So you can't say he start beef to sell records. Trap Muzik would have went platnium if he chose his singles right. Hell it proably is by now anyway. The song "I'm Talkin' To You" he said is not put out to anyone its just a general song and if you think the shoe fits then wear it. I know everyone has there own opinion but Lil Wayne is not better then T.I. The Carter 2 suffered without Mannie Fresh doing the beats.

Posted by: dertyred at March 29, 2006 12:51 PM

Even as a nigga who resides up north, I can honestly say that T.I. bangs kinda hard. But it's no classic. That shit is still proper for the whip though.

I think Wayne's album was actually better without Fresh's production, we got to notice how he's grown as a lyricist and not pay attention to the betas as much.

Classic, nah...the last classic I remember was Blueprint--that still can be bumped to this day front to back. When niggas can make music that does that, that's CLASSIC status.

Making us look like the haters and I know I aint one. As a carolina nigga now living in the north for the last 2 years I can say that all this north/south shit is dumb even more when my own region keeps startin it on sohh site and get mad when they respond. If u dont want them north niggas dissing us then dont try to diss them. ITS ALL MUSIC. If u mentioning a region of niggas that aint mention you or acknowledge your existance that means u thinkin bout them Kaiser and look at the sales. SALES IS BAD EVERYWHERE. Niggas are not selling shit NOWHERE. Niggas barely going gold EVERYWHERE. Only 1 or 2 out of 5 niggas from EVERYWHERE go plat or plus. Get your mind right and stop hating on niggas. I aint a hater but like I said Mike proved a good point about TI tryna beef to sell records. And now Rick Ross is tryna do it even though the song old as hell he still did it and Im sure he gonna say somethin else to tip but I been to Miami last summer and niggas in Miami dont like TIP. Hell a lot of them niggas dont like atlanta niggas not all of them but the ones I met in Miami dont

NY Means Not You and Hells Kitchen,
First let me say, hip hop started in NY but it expanded and has grown in other places. Down South niggas don't hate on yall cause we have that respect for yall. But at the same time don't disrespect us cause we doing our thing. In the south, we party, we get crunk, we do it big. We let yall bee yall, so let us be us. As for lyrics, The east coast may be the leader but other areas are close behind. Scarface, Bun B, Pimp C, Outkast, David Banner, Chamillionaire, T.I. its niggas down south that can get lyrical on ya ass too. All the South want is the respect that we deserve for adding to the culture.

Posted by: Kountryboy at March 29, 2006 04:19 PM

I personaly don't think Eastcoast is leading lyrically anymore. For everyone that can be name the is someone from down south that is equal or better. Its not all crunk and snap down here.

Posted by: dertyred at March 29, 2006 05:15 PM

THAT BOI THE TRUTH AND FULLY AND UNDENIABLY THE "KING OF DA SOUTH" AND AFTER THIS CD AND MOVIE HT, NO ONE CAN DOUBT THAT, EITHER.... NOW, U BITCHES RESPECT THAT MAN AND DA SOUTH FOR WHAT WE STAND FOR.....HOLLA AT A REAL NIGGA

Posted by: RABBIT DA GOVERNOR at March 29, 2006 05:33 PM

Yall south niggas just need to stop being haters. Wasnt nobody hating on yall in here thats what I was saying KountryBoy. Look in this blog and see no "up north" nigga even mentioned the south. Look in this blog and see out of nowhere south niggas had "up north" on their minds. Thats what Im saying and to Jwillz you just a hating ass nigga anyways and how we was hating first? I aint even hate in here at all nigga. Check my comments and check this blog and see who was hating first and then check the north blogs and see who STILL hating first - yeah u got it, a south nigga. That region shit is dumb and for babies. O and chevy = real south niggas. Yall other niggas aint familiar. Niggas true colors show who the real haters in here and now niggas hating on DC for nothing. Get your wieght up, not your hate up. Broke niggas.

Posted by: Hells Kitchen at March 29, 2006 06:14 PM

I agree wit king kong it's a good album but not a classic. it's da same old T.I. wit betta beats and he stepped up is lyrical delivery, but he sayin the exact samethang he said on all his albums. all his songs are the same he just changes the title. it's like he tryin to follow some bullshit formula. T.I. still rappin like he trappin er'day. we know dat boy ain't movin no work now , talkin bout he gotta knapsack fulla work, nigga please you ain't movin shit. T.I. done left dat life, he livin good now, talk about somethin else. at this point it's just lookin like T.I. is rappin bout da dope game cause he knows it sells records, cause he ain't doin it now and he don't need to sell dope to survive. good album but keep it real Clifford and talk about somthin else at least on a couple of songs.

Posted by: KT at March 29, 2006 06:35 PM

Yeah "Clifford" is still rapping about the same shit he was years ago. Thats part of why this aint a classic. Im so tired of rappers talkin bout shit they dont do nomore. That shit is fake, fantasy shit but what u expect from real niggas turned industry niggas? Somebody in here said lil wayne is better but how when lil wayne doin the same thing? Wayne talking bout shit he aint EVER do which is worse than what T.I. and other rappers doing. T.I gotta step his game up or someone gon take the invisible crown from him. The only thing that changed on the album from his others is the beats is better and shit like that but he still saying the same shit...no diversity.

Posted by: LO LO at March 29, 2006 06:43 PM

I just want to correct the ny people or up north, whatever. I go on the NYC forum and it never ever fails that someone mentions the south. You say we not lyrical or we do not make good music. Every other comment on the site says something about DFL OR DFB.

My point is do not act like you do not hate. It was 2 or 3 people that dissed you all. In my eyes, the blue print does not have nothing on tupacs double cd, all eyez on me.

We gone see how T.I. album sales. How
many of you bought fishscales?

Posted by: sexycg from GA at March 29, 2006 06:51 PM

I have to say, I looked back at the title of the blog. It says WILL THE ALBUM BE AN ATL CLASSIC.

Basically, I hate to be mean. If you are the not from the A, you really should not comment on it being a classic.

Posted by: sexycg from GA at March 29, 2006 06:57 PM

No cg - You all mention "yourselves" in these blogs. Check the dipset blog...check the 50 cent blog and see whose mentioning who? Go see whose "hating" in those blogs and look who was and still is "hating" on who in this one. Yeah I bought it...did u? Thats in "your" eyes. Too bad I dont feel the same way as you do. Your post itself proves Im right by your hate when again yall are the only ones in here still "hating". And I agree with Naj.

Southernplayalistic is a classic...T.I's "king" is not.

Posted by: Hells Kitchen at March 29, 2006 08:00 PM

What does SOHH Southern being from Atlanta got to do with him asking if its a classic? Please, its either a classic or its not. You dont got to be from atlanta to answer the question. You can be from Nigeria...an opinion is still an opinion and one opinion is not superior to the other based one where the person is from.

Posted by: Hells Kitchen at March 29, 2006 08:02 PM

hey T.I.,

what it do what it do! so i heard about the album coming out and i heard that it has my favorite song "What you know about that" and i just had to get it! i heard that if you would hook up with an artist it would be 2Pac! man that would incredible if you 2 got together and made an album! sh** i would buy it! anyways you are the best rapper that i know and my favorite and number 1 dream is to meet you! but i doubt that it will ever happen!! hopefully it does! well i gotz to go see my grandma in the hospital! try and write back if you can! and whoever doesn't buy this album is straigh up trippn'

<3 me always,

Posted by: lori at March 29, 2006 09:02 PM

You are missing the point, from the atl's point-of-view will this be a classic. He did not say was this a classic ablum. I am interpreting this another way, because what we think is hot in Atlanta others may say is not.

People hate all the time. Thirty people wil get on the NY forum will say the south is making dummie music, because styles p or their favorite artist will not go platinum. An atlanta blog never stays on Atlanta for the simple fact people always say NY ORGINATED HIP HOP, ETC. You need to go back and look at every blog. Trust me. I do not need to say anything bad about NY. I could care less. I never come to the NY forum hating. I may say something, but it is never hate. People on these blogs, need to learn how to give an unbaised opinion.

No, I did not buy fishscale. I would not waste my money. I have never liked Ghostface since he was with wu-tang. Only person I liked was Method Man. I just wanted to know if people went out and supported Fishscales. I can not support someone who has to hate on someone else for a come up. That is why I do not support 50.

You are right everyone is entitled to an opinion. People from up north usually think what they say and do is the end all be all.

Let me give you my definition of hate.

Hate- showing no love when something is hot, knocking someone else's hustle because you are not getting money, always having something negative to say.

Lets be clear on this hating, I believe the A-town's finest said that, because MIKE came on here dissing T.I. first, A-town's finest must have though thIS person is from the north. So that is how this got started. The funny part is at least 8 people from the north came on here and said something bad about the south. So proving my point someone always comes in and starts on the south.

Posted by: sexycg from GA at March 29, 2006 09:16 PM

Cg - No, from "your" point of view its a classic. You cant say from the atl's point of view because not everyone in atlanta feels the same way "you" do. They do not all think alike. Nobody living in one place thinks like "everybody" else. Its your opinion not the whole atl's opinion.
Yeah your right, people do hate all the time. My other comment was deleted and in it I said "check the archives and see who was hating on who to begin with" Cg. In fact look at this blog right here, look at the dipset blog and look at the 50 cent blog and you'll see all the haters from the south doing their normal thing which is hating. And this is all while nobody even mentions the south. Go ahead and look for yourself. I've seen a lot on these blogs and everybody hates. Not just people from the south hating on the north but yeah there are ppl from the north hating and I never said that didnt happen. Im talking about present...recently yall have been the ones hating. You may not have hated but you're expressing your hate right now which is why I said you proved my point. And how do you "know" what people from "up north" think? Just like I said everybody in atl dont think alike, neither do people from "up north". What type of shit is that? lol. Well I bought it...and I wouldnt waste my money on "King". Unlike you Im not a hater, Im just dissapointed in the album. How is he hating on someone else for a come up? If you didnt know that concert he did was in the south and the crowd agreed with everything he said. Be mad at him and be mad at the crowd too then. U said you dont like 50 well guess what he also dissed 50 cent so whats your excuse now? You dont have one, its just pure hate is all it is. I understand if you dont like someones music but pure hate is not healthy.

Your definition of hate is still an opinion. How can "hating" mean not showing love when something is hot? Not everybody is going to think something is hot. Everybody is different. I like reggaeton, but theres a lot of people who dont. Its called having a personal taste in music. Whatever you favor. Knocking someones hustle? Who is "listening" to the rappers "hustle"? We are "listening" to the rappers "music". People kill me with this hustle junk. Yeah you were grinding...thats all good. But you're SUPPOSED to grind if you want something unless someones just gonna "give" it to you. Success is not going to just knock at your door. You have to "go" out and get it. I dont care if you "hustle" til' you almost had a stroke. If your music isnt up to par, then thats that. Hating to "me" is when a ppl dislike something/someone without a sensible, legitimate reason behind it. Offensive people just "looking" for something to hate on. Also someone who hates for just no reason or...out of spite. Someone who hates you, but knows nothing about you, never met you, etc and automatically "assumes" they know you and automatically programs it in their minds to "hate" you. I could go on and on...Well cg, you proved my point again. Atowns finest fit the category of my opinion of a "hater" right there by "assuming" when he/she doesnt "know". In other words...he/she is a "hater" looking to find "anything" to hate on the north. Who are these 8 people in here that you speak of or are you too, "assuming" and "looking" to hate? Especially when ppl from "up north" in this very blog gave nothing but respect and an opinion (something you say we never do but when we do it...yall say we still dont do it. Make up your minds please. Thank you). Play the victim all the while, but my points keep being proven little by little with each response.

Posted by: Hells Kitchen at March 29, 2006 09:50 PM

I agree w/you Hells Kitchen especially about having a personal taste in music. I like the beats on the King album but some of them sound like they're recycled beats from other songs. The recycled beats sound like they were either slowed down or sped up. T.I could've come way harder w/his lyrics. He needs to work on his lyrical content. The beats drown out his lyrics so none of them are sticking with me. However, I do enjoy that I can rock to the album. I'm from up North and I would criticize a Northern rapper. Why are people making this a regional battle? Music is Music: either you like it or you don't. Let T.I have his 15 minutes of commercial and Hollywood fame. The way people are degrading and cursing each other out it sounds like the Civil War never ended: there's still brutal ideological divisions in opinion between the North and the South.

Posted by: reggiebushfan at March 29, 2006 10:54 PM

To sexycg:

I understand you trying to clear the air on this north/south shit that's going down on the blog, but that wasn't my motive or reason behind my post. I was surfing the web and happened to see the video with Slay yapping about how he didn't wanna see any NY niggas doing a dance that originated in the 'A'. Being a frequent visitor on the SOHH site and knowing how NY niggas are hating on the south right now, I wanted to express how this shit is getting ridiculous.

To use the new catch phrase in hip-hop, REAL TALK; when the west was dominating the airwaves and sales, NY niggas had something bad to say. Ok, fast forward to when NY was shining again, everyone acted like all is right in the world of hip-hop. The midwest had a moment with STL, but in all honesty, it didn't last as long as the south has, particularly the sound coming out of Atlanta. I feel that now, NY muthafuckas are hating on the south bcuz, it's sound is dominating the airwaves and sales. Name one person or group that has dissed NY from the south? On wax or in performance?

What NY niggas don't seem to understand or get, in y2k-beyond, it gots to BEAT in the whip and in the club. The 808 is back, and more muthafuckas like to beat the block down more than ever. Niggas are spitting crazy lyrics over trashy ass beats. And that just won't do in the ride. Lil Jon blew the fuck up not from just fucking with south niggas, but from putting that hard ass 808 sound behind south niggas, NY niggas, R&B acts and everything else, even rock.

The blueprint, as Naj, said can beat from front to back. True. 50 beat, remember how 'Many Men' sound with that grown man in the truck?!?! Busta been beating, and Touch It proves that.

Music is music and everyone has their on likes and dislikes point blank. But, don't hate on someone just bcuz you don't like that they selling or popular at the time. Do you!!!!

I dont care about record sales...Cause record sales dont make u NICE or a Dope MC..The south dont make everyday music...You cant wake up in the morning and throw on some fucking Crunk music..Yall niggas make that party shit..and LiFE aint a Fucking PARTY..And niggas is SWAGGER JACKERS TOO !! To the nigga above:

What the fuck is you talking about holmes. Nigga my grandmama got two golds up top and two on the bottom cuzzo!!! She 85 cuzzo!!! Dumb ass, wanna claim something, ass nigga. So she wanted to be like a muthafucka from NY too, huh? Come the fuck on dog!!! One thing suckas like you don't know about the south, most elderly people got golds in they mouth before rap knew what rap was. I don't have a GRILL nor did I want one. Two, one on top and one on bottom, does me just fine, and they been there since I was 16; I'm 30 now dog. AIR FORCE fucking ONES, you must be a young muthafucka. Dope Boyz, ex-for me, been rocking A1's and white tees way before these songs came out and acted like they was the new shit on the block. D-boyz , or any real nigga around my way, always knew the value of a fresh pair of crispy white shoes, ex. A1's, Reebok, etc. Young muthafuckas like you just caught up to what's hot.

I don't a fuck what else you say bcuz you ignorant dude.

Posted by: A-Town's Finest at March 30, 2006 02:20 AM

To the nigga talking about gold originating in NY. Hold up...the first people I ever saw with golds was my grandma and my aunt chillin with they church hats on when I was a litte nigga. This was before my black ass ever seen a Flav or a Meth or Ra any other nigga with that shit. And for the record I aint never want no golds and aint never liked no golds up to this date. But that's just how I grew up. Coming up in the D niggas just sported they regular ass teeth and kept the gold and ice for they neck and wrist and fingers. Even my grandma and them gave the fronts up around 1990 or something. Not hating on golds - just sayin...

But my point is that NY aint the originators of that shit. I got cousins who live in NY of all ages with golds, but them niggas moved to NY from Alabama where my grandparents is from. We all got some country ways to a certain extent because niggas came from the South originally. Until your people came here from Jamaica or Trinidad or some shit your ass got Southern roots. You got transplanted to NY.

This aint a NY hatin post - my people is my people regardless of what city or region they claim. Niggas need to wake up and realize that they need to be worried about that white man with his foot on your neck - not your brothers from another region.

And for that matter, niggas from New York need to give up on the whole rap supremacy shit. NY had the crown for a nice stretch because they basically originated rap in its modern form. But now the South done kicked the door in and its a wrap. Again, I'm not a big fan of Southern rap - I'm just stating fact. When you look at the population of black folks in America, niggas are predominantly in the South rather than the North. And New York is only a fraction of the Northern population. So logically, niggas in the South want to hear niggas who make music who sound like them, talking about their shit. From Missouri to Texas to North Carolina back to Illinois, there are alotta niggas who relate to being Southern or country or whatever you want to call it more so than New York shit.

Niggas say what you want - I'm right - and the South is gonna keep on killin this rap shit from now on. NY being the originator don't mean shit. A white man invented the game of basketball and niggas done took it over. Same thing with rap - NY started it but until niggas in NY outnumber niggas in the South - look forward to the South holdin it down nigga.

We all brothers though. Stop hatin on each other like some hoe ass niggas.

Do your research A-towns finest. Golds came from Africa a long time ago as a symbol..and people in India wore them as a symbol also. From Africa, the golds came to Rochestor NY and was the first place in America to be distrubuted...these were when white folks were them to be exact. I dont think you know there were slaves in NY brought off the boat STRAIGHT from Africa so anyway the teeth symbolized a free slave. Before then it was only white folks in America wearing stolen golds believe it or not. It spread to the south and other slave infested states as a symbol of freedom. Later on down the line people didnt wear them anymore..it was no need to. Them came caps from the dentist. People got the idea to start wearing golds all over again...there u go. Golds 101 now A-towns finest.

Posted by: Jury at March 30, 2006 09:15 AM

Dont believe a word I wrote, fine. No big deal...just pick up a book, read up on it, ask someone old enough who knows, there you go. Now I feel like I do HATE when my NY brothers act superior. I dont act like that...not my style but thats just how it is here. Even within different boroughs some boroughs think they're better than the next borough. Its just the way it is here lol. Ridiculous but its true. Say for instance its a crowd full of niggas from the Bronx you think they think of Brooklyn, Queens etc equally? Hell nah they gonna think the Bronx is the best and vice versa lol.

Posted by: Jury at March 30, 2006 09:19 AM

I really dont care about who started what else. I didnt start it and yall didnt start it. Thats what I know about that. All I know is that every person down south has family in NY and every person in NY has fam down south whether these niggas know it or not. We all fam, its mad dumb to be hating each other over music. Thats some ignorant shit right there. Let me fill yall in on something, you saw the crowd when Kay slay said what he said? They didnt care much I dont think cause most niggas in NY show love to everybody. At least thats what I see here. Some rappers in the industry be tripping, thats them that aint everybody. Come to the streets and see a nigga bumping westcoast shit, downsouth shit, midwest or northeast, reggae, reggaeton, soca, shiiit. Even during the west/east hip hop war shit niggas here was still bumping cube, snoop and all them. I was in the bay during that time and niggas there was bumping all types of shit too. Dont let the media and these internet young dummies confuse yall. They dont know better. The thing I dont get is WHY cant us NY niggas embrace other niggas without being called a dick rider? I listen to everything...it dont matter as long as I like it. But if someone else listen to NY hip hop they just listening to it. Im tired of hearing this "New York are the trendsetters, yall not supposed to follow trends". Who said Hip Hop is a trend? I really dont like to label shit as northeast hip hop/downsouth hip hop...cause its all hip hop. But back to the topic, why cant I listen to something not from here? Thats the shit niggas kill me with. Like its a sin for a NY nigga to like something that dont come from where Im from. The other thing I dont get is why when NY niggas show love, they're called dickriders, followers, blah blah or still called haters. That shit is fucked up lol. I mean niggas even think Brooklyn cats dont like Harlem cats or Bronx cats dont like Queens niggas. Thats just a stereotype. Just like the stereotypes down south are just stereotpyes, its the same here. Can I call these a form of racism? instead its regionism.

Posted by: Jury at March 30, 2006 09:33 AM

jus hoppin back on topic for a min t.i. got plenty classics in the streets of the A like "in da A",dope boy fresh, and all dem in da streets mixtapes wit da p$c but worldwide it probably wont be a classic but down here in atlanta the shit gon bump for a while so it could be named a classic in da south

To HELLS Kitchen;

My definition of hate is my opinion. I though I said that, but oh well. I get tired of people on these blogs saying what real hip-hop is. When that is going to be different for a lot of people. People on here blame the south saying music is not real right now. I do not think that is right. Now people up north say they do not like to watch BET. Well that is just tough, think about what everyone else has had to listen to all these years.

Just for your info, I never said it was a classic my self.

It was the way people were writing about the album being a classic.
They did not just say, No it's not a classic. It was like that's what's wrong with the south right now, they do not know what real music is.

To A-town you are right they do not understand about the music beating in the car.

Posted by: sexycg from GA at March 30, 2006 09:08 PM

Jwillz, Be easy before we get your IP{ adress and some DC N8ggaz come see you. YOuu REALLY don't want it. Cop the DVD Keep it Gangsta, and get a taste of that DC Life. Far as Chunk, he was hating probably cuz when tip came to town he F8cked his Bitch, anyway you had to be on the dick to make it all the way to the blog, let alone read and leave some comments. And Big G would wup 98% of the rap game's ass, you see he the only one that didn't get caught the wire!! LOL Next I copped the album is alright I personally like Trap Muzic and Urban Legend Better and I'm from up North, I didn't even cop trap music until it had been out for 6 months. To me Trap Music is classic, and urban legend is a very good album, I have the Leak CD too he has at least 4 fire tracks on that joint that switched with a couple of joints on the King would of made it a classic or at least on par with his last two offerings. What I do think this album offers that the other two don't are two MONSTER nationwide commercial freidnly singles WHat you Know about and Ride Wit Me are certified BANGERS, and most of the hip hop record buying population usually only buys your album for one or two songs anyway, so this album will probably sell the most. Which by the way means he's still on the way up unlike some other rappers who sell less and less everytime out. But really It's the true hip hop heads that wanna analyze ya whole joint, this that and the third. Finally that GHOSTFACE is FIRE too, don't compare the albums go get both of them. Can't we all just amke good music..........

Here's an idea, try and think about something other than getting respect without earning it for just one second of your lives. My God, it's the only thing yall niggas ever talk about. If you would just drop it for two seconds, you might actually be able to do something with your lives to earn respect instead of protecting some ghetto street corner as if it was gold. There is no East Coast, West Coast, South difference. It's all the freak'in same shit, different ghetto. How about getting ride of the ghettos? That will get you respect. Being the biggest man in the shittiest neighborhood is like putting leather seats in a '81 ford. Worthless. Let's say you are the baddest gansta in the baddest ghetto keepin it real. So what? That still means shit, other than your poor and black. Whoopie. How about being a man and having some morals? Thug life is unoriginal and a has been fad.

Attention Niggers!!

On behalf of my fellow White supremists, I would like to thank each of you for finding another reason for you coons to divide yourselves and saving us the trouble of creating a pawn. We do not fully understand what the argument is all about. All of that rap is just noise but at least you jungle bunnies aren't trying to say anything positive and uplifting. We were worried in the early '90's when the pro-black movement was strong but our superior intellect prevailed and we started pushing the " gangsta " image in music and movies. You niggers fell for it hook, line and sinker. Look at the average young spook running around. His pants will be below his filthy nigger butt. He will act like a jungle monkey in public places, cursing and reciting obscene rap lyrics at the top of his lungs, proving that everything we believe about you is correct. Look at the ones you tar babies idolize. It's cool to be shot.Loving your ghettos is the norm. Acting civilized is rightly called " acting White". Education is so not important that your nigger colleges are going bankrupt. You fur headed apes will sell crack to your own chicken eating family members just to make us rich buying fancy cars, jewelry, and overpriced cheaply made clothes with a White man's name. You will always be beneath the glorious White race. So keep fighting amongst yourselves over north, south, east, west. Keep suporting negative images. We will keep taking your money so you'll never be an economic power. Thank you, spear chuckers for making our job easier.

It's funny how someone says they are "KING" of where ever and it get's peoples blood flowing. Aint no real "KINGs" here, It's just a statement representing how he feels, how he wanna be seen. It aint no different then someone saying their a "BOSS" or "PRINCE". It's just a marketing tactic and it obviously worked for the young fella so more power too him. The way I see it is, if none of the old headz in the game are complaining, why should anyone else.

The new album is great, 4 mics, but no classic yet. Doesn't quite fall in line w/ Makavelli...maybe next time. He represents the new SOUTH well in my opinion and is the leader of the bunch. Not just some nice beats and hooks...he comes w/ a variety of sounds that blend well and a good lyrical presence on some nice production.

"GET PAID, quit hating on the game and support yourself...nigga...GET PAID"

TI's albums in order of preference....
1. Trap Musik
2. I'm serious
3. Urban Legend
4. King

I like the nigga, but too many "love" type songs. I just copped the CD, so maybe I should listen a little more closely, but it don't seem up to par. It seems like a lot of cats on this blog feel the same way..

Posted by: What you know about that? at April 4, 2006 05:10 PM

TI has been my dude since "I'm Serious". NOW THAT SHIT WAS A CLASSIC!!! If he can do at least one more album close to that then he deserves the title "THE UNDISPUTED KING" But I wouldn't call this album a classic. Don't get me wrong the shit is nice but not a classic, he hasn't dropped another since I'm serious. REAL TALK: I don't think TI is fucking wit Wayne. NOW HIS LAST TWO ALBUMS WAS BONA FIDE CLASSICS!!!!
Oh and to all ya'll NY mofo stop hatin cuz ya'll the mofo that thirsty for this down south shit. This shit totally blew ya'lls mind. You can't get enough of it and you love this shit, and BET stay on our dick!
Now take ya sleepy ass to bed
While We Be Gettin Some Head!!!!

Posted by: warren at April 5, 2006 03:38 PM

are yall for real?? that new TI is NOT hot. dont get me wrong, i dont got no problems wit TI. his last two cds were fly but King just aint gonna cut it. that cd is mediocre AT BEST. not good, and definitely not no classic. he has a few hot tracks but a couple tracks doesnt make a whole cd. i think hes capable of better

Posted by: Miss Thang at April 5, 2006 09:07 PM

that T.I CD hard is mother fucker he got pimp c , bun b front back king back which just blaze made that hot as beat and top back mannie that beat and im not from bankhead but that shit fir ass hell T.I this may be and classic by the summer

Posted by: k-roc at April 7, 2006 10:24 AM

Man can ANYBODY make yall happy? The CD is above average!! Is get rich or die trying a classic? No but it is above average! The quality of Hip Hop today comes from the evoution of the artist into a label head, CEO or Owner. The music is no longer the main focus rather the rapid sales figures. Rappers today focus mainly on 1st week sales which is importat to the label. It is thier JOB to sell records. When I go into McDonalds and order a Big Mac I dont say this burger is good but it isnt a classic I just eat the damn burger and shut the fuck up! T.I. thanks you for your purchase and will return sometime soon to sell you more records.

I am from the A and alot of people dowmn here really consider T.I the king or a Classic. He is mainstream and he just appeals to those MTV kids. Personally I do not care to much for him I think he is a fake.I am from Bank head from the FTP and just like any other rapper lies in his rhymes to make himself to street cred like 50 cent.

Posted by: Tawny at April 9, 2006 07:01 AM

KEEPING IT HONEST ... i appreciate what that nigga CLIFFORD (T.I.P.) brings to the GAME, and although he garnered the most sales he's ever had an opening week for any of his lp's ... I FEEL LIKE THAT NIGGA ROBBED ME, b/c damn near 10 of the songs on KING came off the bootleg shit i burn't in NOV-05!
I'm already knowing DUDE got hella rap skillz, but he hustled me out my money on this one ... NIGGA COULD HAVE AT LEAST CAME UP WITH 5 MORE NEW SONGS ... lazy ass nigga T.I.P. (you still got my support bro'!!)

All of you "haters" need to go elsewhere. TI is an intellectual man who speaks reality. Some of you need to listen to the words and incorporate it into your own lives. What bad can you say about the man. He is doing good for society. He owns his own club, got the map on lock and is only gettin started....what you know about that?

Posted by: Karma at April 16, 2006 07:35 PM

Posted by: Whoa. at May 28, 2006 05:37 AM

Aite as far as the album its hot and TI said himself 'fuck it.' so all this yellin is pointless. It aint no classic cause anybody who a real TI fan know you aint gon get no better 'I'm Serious' and 'Trap Muzik.' Niggas still bump those. As far as southern classics the past 5 years all imma say is Three Six Mafia - Da Unbreakables.
