Having a top selling album doesn't determine if it's hot...I am in the industry so I could tell you first hand that having a top selling album is determined by the amount of marketing dollars put into the project. That's why 50, Jigga, Kayne, etc.. get the exposure and sales...the adverstising costs and marketing plan for their album are much greater than say a Jada Kiss or a Talib Kweli CD.

Everybody has there own opinion about what really hot, but from a true hip hop standpoint...because D4L makes a catchy song and gets advertising/marketing dollars, they sell records...again, doesn't mean they're hot. Unfortunetly in this society it's not the music, it's the marketing...and that's why without Interscope, Em would just be that crazy kid at last night battle, as opposed to a superstar.

I HIGHLY suggest you pick up those Talib Kweli albums and give them another listen. That shit is QUALITY MUSIC.
