to my ppl in tha Dirty South!!!! (only cause I grew up here, Stay on top of these charts cause y’all are doin’ it. The movement has been so successful that now in the South, an '84 Caprice goes for the same price as an '02 ES 300 LOL. Be careful though. New York is already about to copy some of the style. I was reading an article about Lil’ Cease of Junior M.A.F.I.A. coming out with a genre called “Riot Music”. He says he wants NY to have a music like crunk. As quick as the East Coast critics dismiss people like Lil’ Scrappy, Cease will become a genius in his new copycat genre. The Diplomats already came out with the song “Crunk Muzick”. Couldn’t believe my ears!!! Anyway don’t worry that NY critics don’t take our hip-hop seriously. They keep saying how we’ll fall off like they tried to do with the West Coast and kind of succeeded in their quest. I’ll tell you why it won’t happen.
First of all, when the West Coast began its decline, it wasn’t necessarily all of NY’s doing like they want to make you believe. The West Coast didn’t diversify enough. The majority of their music was coming off of two record labels. Ruthless and Death Row. When Suge went to prison, Tupac died, and Dr. Dre and Snoop left, half of the West Coast was gone. Ruthless suffered with Eazy-E dying and that is that. We are different. Artists from the South who could never get major label attention anyway, did their own thing on independent labels. That is why the independent label is so ingrained in Southern hip-hop (please check out my link to all the underground cd’s and DVD’s from the Oomp Camp website on my homepage). The most a record label can get out of a Southern rapper is a distribution deal. Southern rappers don’t sell their souls for 60 cents an album like rappers from NY do. The legacy of slavery in the South has blacks down here very wary of working hard to make other people rich. Artists down here will sell out of their trunks (listen to Nas’ “God’s Son” on the first track) for 8 dollars a pop and keep all the money.
Rappers in the South make more money per rapper than rappers in NY on average. Why do you think the South has taken over 106 and Park? They need to change the name of the show to Peachtree Street, Bourbon Street, or Beale Street because that’s all you see on there now. Southern rappers have more of a budget to make videos because all of their money belongs to them and not a record label. The West Coast also fell off because the South was a big market for West Coast music. As our radio stations started playing more of our own songs, we weren’t listening to as much West Coast anymore and now I miss it. We also won’t fall off because of pure numbers. The majority of blacks in this country live in the South. Next is the Midwest. According to the U.S. census bureau in 2000, out of the 10 states with the largest black populations, only two were not in the South or Midwest. And one of those two states not in the South or Midwest was California. So naturally we will be listening to our own music (i.e., notice how here in the South you never hear an artist from the East Coast unless they are on the same track as one of our artists?). NY critics have attacked our dominance the same as they did the West Coast by saying we are not “lyrically” strong. Please! Andre 3000 is better than any rapper residing in NY including Talib and Mos Def. Yeah I said that shit!!! F*ck y’all East Coast critics. Debate me on the shit and I’ll win because unlike you NY critics, I actually listen to your music. You don’t listen to ours, you only hear it. I will go toe to toe with you for every NY rapper that you feel is “lyrically” strong, I will give you a Southern rapper that is stronger. As much as I hate Lil’ Flip, I love that track he has with David Banner (another who feels like me about the arrogance of East Coast hip-hop critics) on number 13 from “Underground Legend” talking about how the South helped pioneer hip-hop.
Posted by: whateva at December 14, 2005 11:56 AM
To sum it all up, I’ll go over some key points. 1. To be rated highly by an East Coast hip-hop critic you must be from the East Coast. No ands, ifs, or buts about that. 2. You had to have received a lot of play on NY radio, which is hypocritical seeing how they have and still do refuse to play songs from other regions. 3. According to New York critics, the number of record sales you make and airplay you receive goes into your consideration for “best MC” only if you are from NY (as they have done for their latest savior Jay-Z). So I am starting this blog as a way to review albums and movies with an open mind.
Posted by: whateva at December 14, 2005 12:01 PM
hey east coast is it cool being bias?
At the Source Awards in 1995 when Snoop gave the East Coast crowd a nice, well earned "F*ck y’all!" and Suge Knight managed to bitch Puffy, something happened that in the South will never be forgotten. Outkast won in the best new artist category. East Coast hip-hop critics had brainwashed so many people in NY to thinking that only good MC’s came out of New York, people were booing my boys Andre and Big Boi. I mean seriously booing as if it were Ronald Reagan that came on stage or something! This was also the fault of NY radio who refused to play anything other than NY hip-hop so most people never got a chance to hear how well put together that album was. That point right there is where my contempt for East Coast hip-hop critics and radio began.
I started noticing things about them. East Coast critics name the king of hip-hop according to whoever happens to be hot at the moment (and they MUST be from New York). Take for instance Jay-Z. I’m going to let all those in NY know something. He is not the undisputed king in hip-hop to the rest of us in the country. He is YOUR king. Many of us can’t understand why you would elevate such a corny person to royalty anyway.
Well here’s my take on Jigga/Hova/Jayz/Jay-Z or whatever the hell he’s calling himself today. I was on the East Coast between New York, Jersey, and Massachusetts the entire summer of ’96. Everybody thought he was lame as hell with that “Ain't No Nigga” BULLSHIT. That summer most people were listening to “All Eyez on Me”, which was released that previous February, and NY’s new king for the moment Nas. While Biggie was recording tracks for “Life After Death”, Nas was ruling the charts (and "the world" for that matter with Lauryn Hill) with “It Was Written” (which is also in my top ten list). More so in New York all you heard being played was Nas, LL Cool J, The Lost Boys, and Junior M.A.F.I.A. that summer of '96. Jay-Z was nobody until Biggie died. NY critics then stripped the “king” title from Nas who they considered too commercial because of the LP “Nastradamus”. Funny because the East Coast critics then contradicted themselves by giving “The Blueprint” a “classic” status when all Jay-Z did was put out corny singles and talk about money and his alcoholic beverage. Because he was getting all this airplay he is the undisputed king even though when West Coast artists were dominating the radio they were nobodies.
Now when I got back to Atlanta that fall of ‘96, Outkast dropped “Atliens”. Now if I were to go up to an East Coast hip-hop critic and say that “Atliens” was a better album than “Reasonable Doubt” they would fall down laughing and then get up and try to fight me. They would say that nobody was listening to "Atliens" and that Jay-Z’s interpretation of street life on that album was beyond competition. I would then slap that critic and remind them that no one was listening to “Reasonable Doubt”!!! Outkast was getting more spins on Southern and Midwestern radio than Jay-Z was getting in his own city. Outkast’s perception of Southern street life with tracks such as “Elevators” (which Funkmaster Flex has noted confusion at why Hot 97 wasn’t playing it), “Two Dope Boyz (In a Cadillac)”, and “Jazzy Belles” related nothing to NY street life so therefore NY critics dismissed it.
The reason the West Coast got big was because people in the South and Midwest were feeling it hard. The South, West Coast, and Midwest are like one. Since no slave ships went West, most of the black people from the West Coast have grandmothers or great grandmothers that are from the South. The Midwest is the same way. Come on Midwest, my family is from Detroit. You know how country all the old people are up there (try to remember your last family reunion). All this to say that we relate to each other better than any of us can relate to NY culture. NY critics don’t understand our obsession with cars, freaky women, and other Southern customs because they are in another world.
Posted by: whateva at December 14, 2005 12:05 PM
east coast can keep lyrically
New York hip-hop critics use the word “lyrically” the same way the Bush campaign and republicans use the word “moral values”. What the hell does it mean?!!! I’ll tell you what it means. Just as the term “moral values” means not being gay and not for gay rights or abortion rights, the word “lyrically” means being from New York.
Posted by: what at December 14, 2005 12:10 PM
Every MC coming out of the West Coast in the early to mid 90’s was lyrically strong. The thing was, New York critics didn’t listen as they usually don’t. They’ll listen very hard to find a few lines (out of context at that) that they can dismiss and then apply them to the whole album and as a basis for proving the artist not “lyrically” strong (and remember, this rule only applies to artists not from the East Coast). The West Coast was getting all the radio play (except of course in NY) and dominating record sales. Rather it was Snoop talking about Los Angeles street life or Too Short talking about pimpin’ in Oakland, West Coast artists gave the story of what their hoods were like. Other than Nas (whose “Illmatic” is always on the top 5 lists but “Doggystyle” is not), Wu-Tang Clan, De La Soul, and A Tribe Called Quest, New York was putting out bullshit in the early to mid 90’s.
Then Sean Combs/Puff Daddy/Puffy/P. Diddy/Diddy, in a strategic move, decides to introduce us to an “artist from the East Coast” Mr. Notorious B.I.G. I just knew the East Coast critics would slam Biggie for doing gangsta rap that they were so busy dismissing as not “lyrically” strong among West Coast artists. To my profound surprise, he becomes New York’s savior and a “lyrical genius”. He and his “gangbangers” Junior M.A.F.I.A. I should say that my dad has lived in Queens, NY since 1991. I spent many summers up there. I say this once and then drop it. Black people in New York are not gangbangers (in terms of crips, bloods, vicelords, etc.). They live in the fashion capital of the world and are more worried about being flashy and having a “versace swagger” than being gangsters. The only real gangsters in New York are Italian. But New York critics loved the overweight MC. I’m not saying he wasn’t hot, but I don’t see what he was doing so different from Snoop and Warren G. But New York critics in their arrogance and tunnel vision saw something that I didn’t and labeled him the king of hip-hop.
I moved to Atlanta when I was 10. The Miami Bass sound which orignated he southern hip hop sound was big here but was dismissed as usual by New York critics who labeled it “booty music”. They showed more disregard to the South than they did to the West Coast, even though Luke from 2 Live Crew made it possible for these new East Coast “gangsters” to say whatever they wanted. Luke took a case all the way to the Supreme Court fighting for hip-hop’s right to free speech and freedom of expression, which was cornerstone to the art form’s movement. He won and so did hip-hop. In 1994, Outkast dropped their first album Southernplayalisticaddilacmuzic. People wonder why Atlanta is so big on the music scene and has been for the last 13 years. It began with L.A. Reid and Babyface starting their record label here, LaFace. Outkast did really well under the production and went platinum.

As liberal as New York is, White people with money can’t turn a deal down like that even if it does come from a racist and conservative president. To all my young people reading this who may not remember Reagan, didn’t you notice when he died last year, black folk could have cared less? So anyway, as the richest in New York got their money back, the Blacks and Latinos truly suffered as that money came out of their programs and communities.
The best way to vent that anger without killing each other, came in the form of just talking and dancing it out to a bangin’ beat. Black folk have always used music and rhythm to vent frustration going back to when we were considered property but kept it crunk outside the slave quarters around the fire. MC’s such as Rakim, KRS-1, LL Cool J, Run DMC, Public Enemy, Rapper’s Delight, Big Daddy Kane, and the Fat Boys managed to vent the frustrations of Reagan policies while also providing a new way to get down and keep the girls shakin’ what they knew they needed to. This new art form spread across the nation quickly. Everybody could appreciate what New York created. Now if you are an East Coast hip-hop critic reading this, here is where you need to really start paying attention…
New York is a vastly different cultural existence than every other city in the country. With all the money White people have created for themselves up there, the city budget allowed for the most extensive public transportation system in the nation and probably in the world (i.e., cars are not a staple of life like they are for black people everywhere else in the nation, they are only a bonus, especially with those insurance prices y’all have to pay). The tall housing projects are like nowhere else other than Chicago (and we’ll get on that later). The abundance of cultures, seeing how New York used to be the only port for immigrants, is so much different than the usual black and white, and/or Mexican realities for the rest of the country. All that to say that in other cities, MC’s started popping up to tell stories that related to their own local situation more so than subway stories.
As Reagan took the money away from the hood, he ironically started using it to fund locking up all the brothers that resided there with his BS “war on drugs”. Therefore even though this country was allowing all the drugs (especially cocaine) into the country, our Black and Latino brothers were being locked up for making money off of it. Police became more corrupt than ever as Supreme Court decisions on 4th, 5th, and 6th amendment issues started leaning more conservatively and in law enforcement’s favor under William Rehnquist as chief justice.
My first real memory of hip-hop came from watching NWA straight outta Compton on Rap City over my cousin Donnie’s house. Their song "F*ck tha Police" captured how a lot of brothers were feeling during the mid to late eighties. New York hip-hop critics wondered two things at this point; 1. Wow, there are black people in other parts of the country? 2. Wow, I thought you had to live in New York to be frustrated with the system. While the rest of the country took this song as a classic, New York hip-hop critics painted these guys as just a bunch of angry Jeri Curled rappers not from New York. Then when Public Enemy comes out with their copycat song (as New York hip hop usually does) “911 Is a Joke”; they are viewed as all conscious and revolutionary.
My next memory of hip-hop comes from the first album I owned “The Chronic” which is my favorite album besides “Aquemeni”. This album started the West Coast revolution which is why it’s not surprising this album never ends up on the “top 5 albums of all time” lists that you see done by various magazines and online sites operated by East Coast critics. The West Coast caught the ear of record labels who flocked to get more production out of artists from the The West Coast. The sound was more marketable nationwide and as I stated earlier, people were able to better relate to brothers in Los Angeles than in New York.
Instead of being happy that the art form New York created, was so popular nationwide, New York critics started hating. I remember hearing the Geto Boys’ first hit “My Mind’s Playin Tricks on Me”. This song that told the sad story of how poverty and cocaine had it’s grasp on most hoods, became a classic. In New York, the Geto Boys were not taken very seriously simply for the fact they were from Houston. I don’t get it New York critics!!! Why do you have to be from New York, where hip-hop spawned, to be a classic MC? The Motown sound originated in Detroit. Did people in Detroit respect Ray Charles less because he was from North Florida? Hell no! Jazz originated in New Orleans. Did people in the South respect Duke Ellington less because he made the Harlem Renaissance sound famous? No!!! Why then do New York hip-hop critics never give as much credit and respect to artists from other localities as they do their own?

tell me where you got that south rappers make more than east caost rappers. i don't know what planet you're on dickhead but out of the top selling artists of this millenium (EM,JAY-Z, NELLY, 50, KANYE,) NONE OF THE WERE FROM THE SOUTH. and as far as all that independent deal bullshit goes, all of the so-called "independents" that only have "distribution" deals with the large companies are putting the money right back in new york cause that's were the fuckin companies are based DUMBASS. if a new york or east coast artist sell local then so what. yall are the kings of that shit. and FYI: GETTING VIDEOS PLAYED ON BET DON'T MEAN YOU SELL RECORDS.
also, where do you get off tryin to drop knowledge about lyricists? you don't know shit bout that cause you a youngin that ain't been around long enough to know what real hip-hop is. don't get mad at new york or the east coast cause you got a lot of shitty "music". and do really think that even if cease made some fake ass "crunk" that NY would be in the club actin stupid like some of yall muthafuckas? don't get shit twisted, we don't go to the clubs to slam dance up here. that's not a good look for a NY nigga. or female. are you mad cause you feel like the rest of the country treat yall like step children? thats not our fault. get over it.
why do you care about east coast opinions anyway? you're too emotional. calm down and be easy. you're way too sensitive. man up nigga.

this bitch Whateva don't know shit bout new york. you don't travel. you're an ignorant nigger just like many of the rappers you listen to. la is way more like new york cause we are more culturally diverse. you muthafuckas see a mexican and you're amazed. both those great cities have a lot more to offer anyone who comes to visit than some farm land and cow tipping. why would you be proud to be ignorant? how the fuck are you takin shots at public enemy? what has the south come out with that can compare? you are a lil young ass boy who don't know shit bout history. you are obviously not as old as you claim to be.
first of all lil boy, i live here, you read an article by another angry southerner and decided to run with it.
One of the things that is seething through you're post is an extreme jealousy that is more than a lil obvious.
are you mad at us up here cause our kids apply themselves more at school? are you mad because personal standards are higher? check the facts, you guys school systems are way behind ours. i can't tell you how many times i've tried to help a high school student that transfered from down south get back up to speed.( i work in a high school). are you mad because no matter what yall do, the world will still look at new york as the epicenter of so many great things.
Here's a tip: instead of being jealous of us go out and educated yourself outside of the south. you'd be surprised at how much more there is to the world.
Posted by: case at December 14, 2005 01:04 PM
and who cares what your first hip-hop memory was. the question is, outside of two groups where were your people? and since when did you become an expert on culture?
when did the deep south suddenly become worldy and diverse? and speaking from the position of some1 who is half puerto rican, what the hell do you know of the latino struggle. last time i checked the only city in the south that could relate was miami. i'm betting your city is nothin like miami.
you're a funny guy, i must admit. i like how you try to speak on shit you know nothin about. when i read your post i thought of you as a brainwashed house nigger that has just has much hate for northerners as your former massas. any black person that showed sings of progression, crackers hated. i get that same vibe fro you. if the truth kills a man, let him die.
to all southerners with hostility for the north(only them): don't you think it's a little odd that you adopted the same attitude about the north that your former slave owners did? don't you wonder why you use the same terms for northern blacks as white people used to when they saw educated black people (uppity negroes)? like i have said in the past, the south has made dramatic progression but it has a long way to go. wake up.
stop hating your brothers from the north because we have different value systems. stop setting us back because that's exactly what you do when you display a white southerners attitude.

hey east coast wanna knoe real black people check this cause to us NY rappers are not viewed as black.
Analogies of the phrase, "Going down South," for your consideration. Going down South is as returning to your roots.
Going down South is as visiting the country-ass relatives you never discuss in your bourgie Northern circles, but whose company you enjoy more than anyone's.
Going down South is as -- reluctantly -- kissing that area of your woman's body, but loving the reaction enough to consider it an acquired taste.
Going down South is as dissing Southern hip hop while hanging with your Timberland boots-baggy jeans-wearing friends, then hypocritically rushing the local mom-and-pop to cop the latest Outkast album four days before the street date.
Going down South is as embracing the epicenter of African-American soul. The soul of black folk, some would say, where people still live life according to the meditations of their hearts. Where everybody still has a "Big Ma," an "Uncle Joe" and a "Cousin Peanut."
Down South is where folk can place urban realities in perspective, with relative ease and understanding, because their collective collard green-cornbread ways have survived longer than crack and AIDS epidemics, "3/5-a-man" legislation, indentured servitude or unfulfilled promises of reparations. The lifeblood of Southern soul flowed through the African slave trade, longer and louder than the voices of hip-hop purists who swear the most creative rap shit of the moment couldn't possibly be coming from the "dirty South."
eat that east coast
Im not gonna waste mty time anymore yall just prove that yall are just arrogant post by post.

I live in a city called americus right outside of atlanta and i could tell more about hip hop more than you test me.

Always on here always trying to boost their confidence and shit niggas please. It dont matter where u from and if you're "Black" then you're of African descent no matter what u try to justify what being "Black" is. How ignorant is that? So because a rapper is from the East, they're not Black? Fool get your shit together. Stop trying to make yaself feel better, I doubt it changed anybody views on the south and it sure made me happy to not be from there from looking at all these comments posted by ppl from there.

i cant even name how many west coast niggas be on these blogs playin the shit out of the south. every other region now gets luv but the south cause yall came on here and embarrassed yourselves. real niggas out west(like myself) show way more luv to the east coast then we do yall south niggas.

yo to the dude out west, they do have an inferiority complex. i went down there earlier in the fall as i often do becuase i got family that moved back down there a few years ago. anyway, i went to one of my cousins friend's house wit her. the girl's brother starts tryin to talk to me and i wasn't feelin him. (he talked like the most ignorant black guy i've ever met. no exageration. and he was serious)they aint even live in the fuckin hood. they lived in an upper middle-class burb.
he got all mad and caught feelins, talkin bout "yall new york females is too stuck up, think yall better than the rest of the wolrd cause of where u from". i told him that it had more to do with the way him and his boys carried themselves than anything else. needless to say, he actually thought i didnt want an ignorant nigga jus cause i'm from new york.
i guess where he's from girls dont like educated men, so he blamed it on the fact that i was from new york. now that's an inferiority complex.

I am speechless, east coast yall just proved what i posted on all fo the above, it's kind of wack to come on a southern post if you are out east aren't you guys too educated to be on this website.
Why you mad at us , cause yall know yall hip hop is done, why you think p diddy keeps signing southern artists cause even he knoe the east coast done.
And to F### D4L you on the other hand should be mad since the ny call yall the second city.
East Coast the rest of the country is pointing a middle finger at yall beleive it or not.
Im not educated "please" i graduated with a 4.0 gpa plus i was villa victoran of my class so don't try me on that education shit deal with them big ass rats in your alley sewer trash
We ain't bittin on the east or the west style the southern sound started with the miami bass sound then it spread, plus the south is diverse, we won't fall off because you will get different sounds commin from it.
I couldn't give a living fuck about public enemy or east coast music and thats the god's honest truth.

Posted by: junylikeslaughinatangrypeople at December 15, 2005 09:02 AM
I haft to admit that D4L, FRANCHISE BOYS are lame but why does that effect the rest of yall's perception of the south. What if people thought that 50 cent represented the east in a big way, they would think people on the esat act just like him and listen to his music.
people in the south don't act like d4l they screwed the south up with their style a lot of people in the south even dis-own them.

Posted by: whateva at December 15, 2005 09:31 AM
who said that affected the rest of the country's perception? i beleive you were told by several people that there are several artists in the south that get respect no matter where they go in this country. a perfect example is scarface. he as southern as you can get being from houston. AND NO ONE CAN NAME MORE THAN 5 ARTISTS IN HISTORY THAT CAN FUCK WITH HIM, LET ALONE BE BETTER THAN HIM.
you're the one on here venting all you're frustration on the east coast, particularly new york when D4l being wack aint had shit to do with that nonsense you wrote.
that shit was uncalled for and u make the south look bad with all of that baseless unnecessary hate. i don't listen to too much east coast shit either but you don't see to many west niggas trashin everybody.

Posted by: knowlege1 at December 15, 2005 10:38 AM
d4l is bad for southern hip-hop. these gimmicks take away attention from all the niggas in the south that deserve it. i fucks wit chamillionaire a little and i bet artists like him wont get the respect and attention they deserve nationally because of gimmicks.

Posted by: somedudefrmphilly at December 15, 2005 10:45 AM
I will admit I have said that southern rap sucks. I aint gonna front, but its because of dudes like D4L and what makes it worse is that a lot of ppl from the south support D4L just because they're from the south, but the thing is they're not a good representation of the south. All the people thats not from the south, not living in the south at the moment, or not into southern underground shit only sees dudes like Franchise, D4L, Trap Squad, young capone and shit so how else are they supposed to view the situation? They're not the ones giving these lame ass dudes record deals. D4L isnt only bad for southern rap but like jesus juice said, they bad for hip hop...embarassin lol
Posted by: Bleed at December 15, 2005 10:45 AM
lol @ philly. U know whose embarassin for the east? Juelz Santana & the whole "dipset" and 50 cent, Mase. Everytime I see them dudes/hear them dudes I cringe from embarassment. Benzino, peedi crack. Lord knows they needa stay their asses in the house
Posted by: Bleed at December 15, 2005 10:47 AM
I agree people down here do support D4L just because their from the south, they know D4L lame but they just don't admit it.
It's sad that franchise boys, D4L represent us i get headaches everytime i see their videos someone should shoot them.
Posted by: whateva at December 15, 2005 10:50 AM
i agree with the fact that dipset and them niggas suck. i'm from the east coast and i can't stand to see that shit on BET. the sad part about the industry is that it won't let ACTUAL ARTIST shine. they know they can make a quick buck off of the lames cause white people will buy them records.
Posted by: i'm a jesus juice drinker at December 15, 2005 10:56 AM
if we combined all the wack artist out now from every coast,do yall know how many of them niggas will outnumber the real shit?
Posted by: joeyTHEDON at December 15, 2005 10:58 AM
Yea, its a damn shame son. Anybody can get a record deal now except the real shit...how the fuck did this happen? All I know is them white ppl support most of it and basically own the rap industry so I guess it goes any way they want it to. They dont want no rappers spittin shit to us about whats up in the real world, but they sure want "niggers" to make rap records about killing other "niggers" and make money off of it. nope, cant even control our own industry, but u cant just blame white ppl cause a lot of black ppl sell out for money...smh.
Whateva, nah they wouldnt and then if all of the real emcees got the spotlight, ppl like D4L would have to step their game up to stay in the game instead of dumbed down candy lyrics cause every1 would finally realize whats real hip hop and whats not. Of course some ppl still would buy dumb shit like that, but not hip hop heads
Posted by: Bleed at December 15, 2005 11:38 AM
I hate when artists talk about grills don't nobody wanna hear about that stank shit in yall mouth.
Posted by: whateva at December 15, 2005 11:40 AM
I hate when ppl talk about grills, they chains, being gangsta or how hard they are, how many times they got shot, how much money they got. Most of them renting they cars, chains, and they houses not even theirs...most of that shit is frontin
Posted by: Bleed at December 15, 2005 11:43 AM
yo whateva: i think ya list was pretty much on point. and why the fuck do these rappers put that shit in they mouth? do females find that shit attractive?
Posted by: i'm a jesus juice drinker at December 15, 2005 11:45 AM
jesus juice Im glad when niggas stopped wearin them shits over here in the 80's.
Posted by: Bleed at December 15, 2005 11:47 AM
hell yeah. it's not hot. and it's not a good look. i wish black people would find more resourcful wayz to spend they dough. send some of that money back to the fuckin ghetto. in the south i know they be supporting they artists a lot. they should support they people. in the east niggaz love to brag about they paper. i be seein diset and them niggas in harlem and outside of a few contributions they don't do shit.
Posted by: i'm a jesus juice drinker at December 15, 2005 11:50 AM

Groups like D41 and franchise boys need to washed from the face of this earth cause they are killing hip hop it's self.
Posted by: whateva at December 15, 2005 12:01 PM
see the thing about 50, when he was on his grind, tryin to get his name out and all, dude was nasty. then this nigga get all commercial, do all the things he hate ja rule for, and embarrasses the whole new york. he used to be nice on them underground mixtapes.
Posted by: brix at December 15, 2005 12:02 PM

Posted by: taxer at December 15, 2005 12:05 PM
How does 50 expect ppl to take him seriously when he does video's like candy shop.No wonder other rappers don't take him seriously and he has the nerve to diss nas who does he think he is.
Posted by: whateva at December 15, 2005 12:10 PM
What is that little chant julez santana does "accth" whatever it is it is nerve racking it's worst that lil jon's "yeah"
Posted by: whateva at December 15, 2005 12:12 PM

I just got through watching the laffy taffy video and to be hones i have to say i dont see anything wrong with it. I know it sound crazy cause i just bought my four year old a keyboard and he played the beat to a "t" but it just remind me of old school hip hop like kwame and kid and play when niggas was having fun with hip hop. I mean what makes a good lyristist I feel canibus is the greatest that ever did it cause he so futuristic with his but he aint sellin. I mean battle rapper arent great sellers look at jin! I pay two months rent money to see canibus jin and eminem go at it and i already know like the rest of you em wouldnt make it to the second round. I mean the street is the street and music is music we need to remember that. I remember when fifty came out you would have thought pac had an illegitimate son born i queens like he was the second coming or something but now everybody hate fifty I still like him well his old stuff but hey fifty gotta eat. I listened to mostly east coast music my whole life but being from the south ive seen too many good artist go unnoticed. Even laffy taffy is old as hell down here but yall just now hearing it. Just like back in the day when i was trying to find out who the hell method man was. Just enjoy the music and if you dont like it well dont just dont try to make the rest of the world feel like you. I got a free lap dance off laffy taffy cause the dancer liked the song so much. Hell look at the wu tang when the first came out the looked kind of funny you gotta admit but it didt take away from the music. stop hatin on the south just cuz we diffrent we aint hate on B.I.G. overrated ass he cant see Cee Lo from goodie mob thats a fact ant Jay-z cant see andre 3000 and Im wearing s.carters as we speak. The first shall be last and the last shall be first for a long time. ha ha east coast records aint sellin!!! suffer bitches!!!
Posted by: daredevil at December 15, 2005 07:18 PM
daredevil, you're wack. we've been through this argument a thousand times so i won't even take it there. niggas put that east vs. south shit to rest (like they should have) but lets not talk about selling records cause ceelo aint doin it. that's funny cause your one of a small, small, minority that feels the way you. southern records sell mainly in the south but nobody else is hating. that just mean some people have their own musical preferences. as much as you like to think the south was only getting money, you're wrong. People have said it a million times but i'll repost it: eminem, 50 cent, nelly and jay are the only dudes to consistenly move big units since 2000. NONE were from the south. sorry to burst your bubble but it's true.
no disrespect to the south but yall gotta keep cornballs like daredevil in check. he kinda ruins things for yall.
you got ignorant niggas like him that hate and represent badly for the south. it's a good thing most of us already know not everyone from the south are haters.
Posted by: daredevil is slighly homo, and he's a cornball at December 15, 2005 08:36 PM
quick question for daredevil: out of the rappers you braggin about selling records, which ones is helping you feed your son? you need to worry bout getting your own gwop.
one more question: how you got a kid and got time to be on some young ass east vs south shit?lmao. see ladies and gentlemen, another broke internet thug sittin behind a computer braggin about niggas success that he don't even know.hahahaha. you must not have a job or you do have a job and you're a dead beat dad that sits at the computer all night when he gets home, without spending time with his kid.
yeah, i took it there, nigga. what u gonna do?whip my ass?hahahahahah
Posted by: nadiafrombrklyn at December 15, 2005 08:45 PM
lmao@nadiafrombrklyn. yeah, he tryin to start that east vs. south shit up again but ended up getting clowned.lol.hahaha
Posted by: reeferfrmoaktown at December 15, 2005 08:48 PM
ouch, thats cold nadia.lmao
Posted by: imnotfromnewyork-ortheeastcoast at December 15, 2005 08:54 PM
i don't care if you're from north, south, east, west, canada, or mexico. no one in their right minds would say d4l isn't wack. i'm from the south and i'll even admit it. daredevil is immature and likes to keep drama going cause he aint got shit else to do, so don't respond. if he wants to argue bout dumb shit, let him.
Posted by: shelly at December 15, 2005 09:07 PM
TO ALL OF YALL POSTIN DUMB SHIT HATING
how do any of yall mufuckas argue over which rappers gettin money? yall all sound stupid when none of it is goin to u!! i notice how it's always fans hatin on other coasts and not the rappers themselves. it's cause they all gettin more money than yall wack niggas on these blogs so what is yall sayin? whether you like em or not, they gettin more money than you cause you sittin at a computer writing about them gettin paper instead of getting yours!!!!
IM OUT.
Posted by: some of these niggas sound stupid at December 15, 2005 09:30 PM
to the nigga talkin bout braggin about rappers: that shit is the truth. some people take that shit to heart when you criticize a rapper. they take it so personal that it's kinda weird
Posted by: juice at December 15, 2005 09:40 PM
daredevil: your a lame. i'm not even gonna say nothin else.lmao. your just a lame.
Posted by: case at December 15, 2005 09:42 PM
i like how daredevil tried to sneek the disrespect shit in at the end. well done. you did it like a true BITCH. that's why nobody even took you seriously.lol
Posted by: ask me if i care at December 15, 2005 10:04 PM
i sure hope your son doesn't become a lame like you. it may be in the genes. but i sure hope not.
Posted by: daredevil gets no love at December 15, 2005 10:15 PM
why r ya'll shitting on that man like that? he just a hater that don't know what he's talking about. i mean, he started off with good intentions, but it's not his fault hate took over at the end. he know he embarrasing the south with the ignorance.
Posted by: remo at December 15, 2005 10:20 PM
