Why not put out the best material to kill all the stereotypes and pre-conceived notions that other regions have about Southern Hip-Hop.

That is the stereoype that has been put on the South only Crunk music generates from the South. As a southern culture a master at Crunk music we might be but a jack of all trades we are. It is more to the South than cars, syrup, ice. Texas offer that screwed and chopped, FLorida leaves problems behind and brighten your day with that sunshine party music, Louisiana got that Bounce, Georgia stay down but can also cleverly refresh your mind with food for thought, Mississippi offer the struggle, and so on and so on. From TenneKing to Florida artists range in thoughts and ideas and express such as struggle, happiness, aggression, envy, jealousy, murder, love etc. It's just so happen that MAINSTREAM sees a rapper get successful off of one element that perfectly blends Southern music (crunk) and they try to duplicate that formula over and over again. And as for crunk classics. THere are plenty from 3-6 "Tear the Club Up" to Eightball and MJG "Quit Playin Games". But only those true to their Southern roots would understand that. As a hip hop culture every region offers something different to the table. There are lyricists, MCs, Rappers, and Legends. That's what makes Hip Hop. Each element serves a purpose to blend into the most unstoppable Movement this nation has ever seen. Imagine how Hip HOp would be if everybody rhymed like Jay or thought like Pac or flowed like Nas. There wouldn't be any variety. When Mainstream gets off the wagon of SOuthern music (not Crunk music) do you think we as a culture who have shaped our music through stuggles of over 400+ years are going to die. NEVER!! First off, everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but to somebody that said trick daddy is lyrical, is trippin. Thats what the problem is, the songs we hear from the south is so wack, that people like Trick Daddy, Pastor Troy, and Paul Wall are considered lyrical. Please. WTF as happened to rap in the past few years? Thanks to this dirty south sh*t, it seems like the whole artform has taken a few steps back. It doesn't even matter what you come up with lyrically, as long as you have a beat. I hear the dumbest sh*t rhymed over beats. Sh*t damn near cuts my ears off every time I hear it. Ok, let me first say that I'm from the south. Southwest GA to be exact, and I'm proud of my little city and my beautiful & creative state. That out of the way, here's what I really have to say:

I think that as adults we have to realize that the younger genearation will always have music that fits their tastes. It has very little to do with what your parents have taught you. Honestly, when you were young did you like your parent's ideas of what was tasteful and what wasn't? That goes in respect to music, clothes, behavior, language, hairstyles, anything.

I agree that Dirty South rap has gotten stale and repetitious over the years. But most of it is made for clubs anyways. I'm 23 (right in the prime target audience for these artists) but I rarely purchase any of it. You can turn on the radio and hear all the 1/2 decent songs on a CD anyways. (I stick to spending money on R&B from about 1960 - present.)

So in conclusion, if you don't like it don't listen. And don't sweat it! Every sub-genre of music has its time and eventually passes. And so shall dirty south rap...eventually.
