My Top Five Atlanta-Based Lyricists of All-Time

With the discussion of Outkast sparking so much debate, I wanted to devote this week to my ATL Hall of Fame picks. Below is my list of top 5 Atlanta-based solo lyricists. Weigh in as well as provide your own list if you want. We all know that the great element of hip hop is that it allows for individuality meaning everyone has grown to acquire different tastes. So here's my breakdown of the all-time dirty emcee's past and present...

andre3000.jpg
1. Andre 3000- When you talk about lyrical versatility you have to include 'Dre. Although yeah he's part of a duo with the success of The Love Below he has earned the right to be mentioned as a solo artist. "Even the sun goes down/ hero's eventually die/ horoscope's often lie/ and it sometimes why/ nothing is for sho' nothing is for certain/ nothing lasts forever but until they close the curtain.../ it's him and I/Aquemini. What more can I say?

2. Ludacris- From the first time I heard Luda on his underground cut "Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place" I knew the skills were definitely in place. Luda ranks this high because of consistency. Year in and year out top of the chart singles. Luda's semi-commercial but can hold his ground, ask T.I. we all know what happened to him on Young Buck's "Stomp."

3. T.I. - Well what can you say, Tip has carved his own niche into the ATL scene like nobody else had before. We all knew it was about crunk music and partying from day one here in the A, retracting back to the Kilo, Shy-D days but nobody was able to inject the gangsterism into the music the way Tip did. Everyone else is emulating but falling short.

4. Cee-Lo - An ATL staple, transcended into different musical areas with ease. Never able to be outdone a song. Makes you feel it. Would have put him higher had he came stronger with his two solo releases.

5. Killa Mike- Ability to hype up any track that he is on. Very underrated lyrically. Should go gold with his sophmore release I'm predicting. Needs to show more versatility. Barely nudged out Khujo Goodie, Jody Breeze and Young Jeezy for the final spot.

Honorable Mention- Da Brat, Big Gipp, Big Boi, Stat Quo (until I found out yeasterday that he doesn't know how to rock his own hometown crowd, needs seasoning), Jermaine Dupri, Bow Wow, Too Short (still consider him Oakland-based or you know he would be in the list!) Young Jeezy, Khujo, Jody Breeze, Witchdoctor, Left-Eye, I-20, Lil Scrappy, Pastor Troy.

IF THERE IS ANYBODY OUT THERE THAT IS REALLY FROM THE A YOU WOULD HAVE PUT THE HARD BOYS AT LEAST IN THE MENTION. IF YOU EVEN HEARD OF THE HARD BOYS YOUR RESPONSE WOULD MAKE MY WEEK.

Posted by: RED Inc. at August 1, 2005 05:52 PM

From my knowledge & ears ...I would say the list would be the following:

1. OutKast
2. Goodie Mob
3. T.I.
4. Ludacris
5. Killer Mike

Posted by: Boi-From-Overseas at August 1, 2005 06:12 PM

Where in the fuck is Face?

Posted by: nestaamaru at August 1, 2005 07:43 PM

since most of the the people who represent ATL arent from there, this question is interesting but i'll post up:

1. andre 3000-no disrespect to big boi or atlanta but you wont find 10 ATL niggas who'll try to touch that "hey ya" beat. they would be too scared

2.field mob-even they though they're from albany i gotta put both of them in here.

3. ludacris

4. t.i

5. young jeezy

6. ...and since field mob don't really count as atl niggas, i gotta put cee-lo. it was his niceness that got him the solo cd first out of the goodie mob

Posted by: big man at August 1, 2005 08:03 PM

1.scarface 2. Andre 3000

Posted by: Michael Holmes at August 1, 2005 10:15 PM

KILLER MIKE is dat nigga for real! First off for all the outsiders, "the whole world" is not his first song...go back and get the Hard Knock Life Backstage soundtrack and listen to "Funkanella." Then listen to "Well" on Slimm Cutta Calhoun. Thats my nigga...it took a minute to realize that he is my favorite rapper.

Top 5 (in no particular order)

1. Dre--man, a new number needs to be created for him...its a given that he is the best on the planet...whats so cool is that he dont even know it.

2. Luda--this man is awesome...the only thing that keeps him from being mentioned with the Jay-Z and Big Daddy Kane and BIGs is that he damn near a cartoon...when or if he start speaking on some real-life shit...oooh, its a wrap

3. Cee-Lo--fuck it, this man saved my life in high school...listening to his sermons on CD...man, what else can i say

4. Killer Mike--(read the intro) this nigga is raw.

5. T.I.P.--this dude, remarkable. truly an urban legend.

Honarable mentions...Pastor Troy (circa 1998-2003), Bohagon, Big Boi, Gipp, Khujo, Gee Rock and Cee Smooth from Da Organization (now in Dungeon Family 2nd Generation),

i love kilo...but he is not a lyricist

Posted by: southpaw at August 1, 2005 10:28 PM

oh yeah...RED Inc...i remember hard boyz...they was on ichiban and triad...used to fuck with breed

Posted by: southpaw at August 1, 2005 10:36 PM

1st Of all It is Atlanta Based!!!

So luda's comedy rap does not count. Nor does Jeezy (although i like your music, shorty just claim your hood)he from Mac-town or nearby no matter who he knows in 4th ward.

So my list goes like this.

1. Tip(home team Westside Zone 1 Bankhead!!!)He said it himself, "there's only five niggas bustin out of atlanta and i'm one of them"
He gave life to trap muzik b4 jeezy could get a 100,000 in those sean john jeans.

2. Dre(although he has gone crazy since erika)sorry big boi you really from Sea port! but u claim it and i respect that. but back to dre true genius him and big boi continued to re-invent kast and rep Da A.

3.Killer Mike(Westside!!!) it's been said many times truely underrated.

4.Ceelo Goodie(even though he is no longer a goodie i guess)
like dre very grifted, but kinda wierd.

5.Damn i don't know troy my nig but he from augusta, it's so easy for me to stay westside and say fabo lol or someone from d4l or trapsquad but i'll do the right thing and stick them in honorable mentions. okay back to 5.

5.I guess Slimm Calhoun he is' "sitting on crome and rubberbands Slimm the South paw trigger man" Shit yall can throw who ever in this spot that is from Da "A". It is just so many people that aint really from here.

That's a good one top 5 that ain't from here that claim Da "A"

1.Luda(i only put him b4 big boi cause this list is kinda bad and i don't feel luda all the time)
2.Big Boi(see above)
3.Jeezy(sorry cuz but you probably couldn't tell me where georgia baptist hospital was and it is now Atlanta Medical Center on boulevard love the album though)
4.Troy(i fucks wit u though troy)
5.i guess jody breeze naw slick pull is better alot better. yeah slick pulla that's my final answer.

Posted by: big man at August 2, 2005 03:32 AM

Aight let me say my top 5 cuz some of y'all is trippin with y'all lists... so first, i'll say my top 10 in no order, so that you know who i'm picking from:

Andre 3000, T.I., Killer Mike, Cee-lo, Khujo Goodie, Luda, Big Boi, Young Jeezy, Jody Breeze, and a guy you might have forgot about, Cool Breeze...

05. Cool Breeze - you gotta remember him. He killed it on "Slump" on Aquemini and on "Decatur Psalm" on ATLiens. Plus he was hot on the Dungeon Family cd and his own album was pretty good. It didn't sell much, but too many people wrote him off as another Big Boi or somethin but the boy was fire tho.

04. T.I. - Yeah he's #4. T.I. got some nice rhymes and he fiya a lot of times, but... he is NOT king of the south. The fact that he claims that after 3 albums is a little immature on his part. No one else whose put out more albums than him claims that. And to be honest with y'all... Lil Wayne is betta. Yeah, he is. T.I. got hard lines, but a lot of them flashy... generalized threats and shyt, but he nice tho...
03. Cee-Lo - Killed every verse for every song he ever did with somebody. Period. Plus his albums were straight.

02. Ludacris - Yeah, he's #2. Why? Cuz he just never, well, never just seem to spit that top lyrical game most people say he does to me. Like, yeah he's kinda commercial and he's a decent battle artist, but like he slacks a helluva lot sometimes. He has flashy rhymes, like his rhymes sound tight but most times he ain't really sayin nothin...

01. Andre 3000 - Listen to any Outkast CD. Period. Enuff said.

I know, I know where's Killer Mike? He's a close #6, very close #6, but Cool Breeze is just a lil nicer. And Big Boi is a very close 7, like 5-7 is almost basicially a tie. 8 is Jeezy, 9 is Khujo and 10 is Jody. Simple as that. That list is not the best, but it's the most consistent with how hard the artists came on their shyt. That's my 2 cents. Later y'all.

Posted by: Snake Eyes at August 2, 2005 07:55 AM

dre, big boi, luda, t.i. and cee-lo...its really that easy...killer mike is underrated, but he aint better than any of these five...coolbreeze also deserves an honorable mention, i'm glad someone else thought of him, his album was pretty tight and he ripped it on the dungeon fam album, and i like jeezy and boyz n da hood and what not, but anybody who would put him ahead of big boi, gimme a break, don't believe the hype! let your comments reflect at least a remote understanding of hip hop history and not just the flavor of the month

Posted by: rich k at August 2, 2005 08:28 AM

I really don't understand what some of you all are talking about. First the man asks about ATL BASED, not born and breed. Second, the man asks about LYRICIST, meaning A PERSON! NOT A GROUP! Third, lyricist alludes to the words of a song, not the music. Fourth, how good an mc is has nothing to do with whether he's commercial or underground, theres great and shitty mc's on both sides. Fifth, The man said top five, some of you just went on a "gotta show love" to every damn mc or group walking around the ATL, top five means just that, FIVE! Some of ya'll just carried the subject at hand way out of orbit. Someone said "T.I.P, this a true nigga", once again the subject is about lyrics, not somebody's street credibility.

Posted by: greezythumb at August 2, 2005 08:38 AM

Aight, first off, those mentioning Face, everyone knows Face is a legend period, but the thread is talkin bout ATL based rappers, so no, he would not be mentioned. With that being said I think that whoeva said that Young Jeezy wuz slightly below Killa Mike is insane. He shouldn't even be on this list. Umm...let me ask y'all trill ATLiens somn, now I'm from Mobile, AL but i think y'all missing someone folks and that's Polow from Jim Crow and y'all also missing Big Mello from P.A., y'all remember them dudes from them groups? I think one of them should hold down the number 5, not fuckin Young "Cheezy" as DMX called him on 106th & Park, LOL!!

Posted by: BamaBoiLaz at August 2, 2005 08:42 AM

Now I know ya'll haven't heard much from him lately, but if you've ever been around ARCHIE he is one of the tightest dudes in tha A. Only people in the industry and people who's hung around him to see knows this. He can freestyle off the top like no other. HE is stuck in a contract wit Phat Azz Mason so he can't really be heard right now. Yea Mason AKA Phatboy is hating so hard on his career. He basically has ruined a promising artist. Well my top five goes like this:
1)Andre 3000
2)Ceelo
3)TI
4)ARCHIE (TI is only ahead because of the success he's had, but I like Archie better!)
5)Killa Mike

1 Jay-z
2 Busta Rhymes
3 Nas
4 Notorious BIG
5 DMX or Tupac
Not in Order

TI
LUDA
BIG BOI
THATS IT EVERY BODY ELSE SUCKZ.

Posted by: McGruff at August 2, 2005 12:06 PM

Andre
T.I.
Luda
Witch Doctor (I think I saw one person mention him...that cd was good when i first heard it back in the day and its even nicer now)
Cee-lo

Honorable mentioned...just too many kats old and new who could fill this spot...i'd go with Troy or definately someone from Organized Noize/dungeon family/Attic Crew...that clique is just too deep and talented!!

I can't really name any new kats since they're just that, NEW...killa mike's been in a for few and he'd definately be on the list after his second album most likely, but i have to see the versatility first!

I don't know how he did it, but Jeezy seemed to just blow up over night, but he's making a name or himself. Just needs to stop sayin "Yeaaaaaaaaaa" and "Thaaaaats Riiiight" on every song!

I remember Jim Crow (loved the cut "Hot Wheels") and P.A. was pretty good too, had their first album also!!

How come no one mentioned Rasheeda...or is she even ATL based!!

Posted by: its betta in marietta at August 2, 2005 12:24 PM

Pac aint even a NY nigga...but you took your time to show your ignorance with that and how you can't comprehend titles!!! way to go killa!

Posted by: its betta in marietta at August 2, 2005 12:26 PM

On top of that, that NY shit aint even hot right now...Jay said it himself verbally and through his actions...kats know where its at right now and thats down south!!! Lace up ya beef and broccoli timbs "B" and be on ya way!

Posted by: its betta in marietta at August 2, 2005 12:30 PM

like greezythumb said before y all don't know what a lyricist is cause you would all know that young jeezy ain t one ....

HERE'S the official top 5 atl based lyricist

1-LUDACRIS cause you don t need to be a gangster to be a lyricist plus when is come to battle ....ask T.I (why do you think that he never respond and ask to be out over the stomp final remix ???) and finally luda is the most relevant lyricist over atl every one think of him when you speak of atlanta he did nt have the crunk shit to become the most succeful lyricist in atl

2- T.I (got to give him props)

3-Big Boi (why the fuck you niggas put dre before him cause big boi kill him lyrically and a bitch nigga relate dre lyrics from hey ya ...get the f....outta here)

heu bye the scarface ain t from atl

4-killer mike (officially the most under rated atl lyricist period)

5-Cee-Lo (funky lyricist with a style)

let me remind you something i am a hip hop connaisseur and luda would kill them hard please belivit

like we said in my slang chéké

Posted by: NDL at August 2, 2005 12:55 PM

I'm from Chicago, but here's my list for top 5 ATL MC's in no particular order:

Outkast

T-Rock

Ludacris

Killer Mike

TI

Posted by: Lil'Red at August 2, 2005 01:05 PM

Aight heres my two cent

Dre 3000: Definently #1 in the A, in the top 10 alive

Luda: Dude has ridiculous amounts of lyrical skill, plus his flow is down right stupid

TI: King of the South, yes, brings a fresh sound to the game. What the doctor prescribed.

BIG Boi, regardless of what anybody says he might have been better than Dre on SouternPlayalistic. Dude still be killin it, its just his flow is different, but in a good way. Sometimes he says fuck the beat and just does him.

Killa Mike: his first album was hot if you ask me. Bubbling from the bowels of hell

Thats my top 5

Posted by: OMINUS at August 2, 2005 01:28 PM

Dre from outkast way betta than Big Boi (no disrespect)when it come to lyrics.
3-5-7 to yo fo'head there'll be mo' dead, cause I'm a pro ked but lawd forgive me I got to keep my milli right b'near me my 9 be doin fine until these niccas want to run me off my street but in my hood hood they hollerin' ghetto aint got no neighbors they hit the pipe and never let go but I feel for them like Chaka Kahn feel for u aint shit that we can do but rest in peace pour out brew on the concrete remember when we ran deep remember at them parties where we served them bitches dandy they know not to test us test me do me try me trippin wit that drama my Berretta's right beside me 1 is in the air 1 is in the chamber yall ask me what the fuc I'm doin I'm releasing anger quik to dodge danger I'm takin it 1 day at a time I got fattest rhymes around my way u can sway wit Andre ;Aint no thang but a chicken wing

Posted by: ZEDDIE at August 2, 2005 04:42 PM

I dont think you can seperate Big Boi and Dre just cuz one double album. Would you seperate BunB and Pimp C? Maybe cuz Pimp doin a stretch and got a solo joint and Bun doin all these features. So you evaluate them as MCs seperately, but their impact is greater when combined. Its no comparison b/t solo and group, really. Just like Ball and G, group trumps solo. With that said, heres my list:

1.) Outkast-They brought the national light to the A in the first place, in the midst of the West-East beef, nonetheless. And the lyrics and countless classic albums and singles say the rest.

2.) T.I.-With the way the music works, T.I. just now hittin his prime, and Outkast not really in decline but the relevance of their newer music to their original core audience(the streets)waning, I could have easily got excited and put Tip first. And honestly, to me, he is the greatest lyricist and hes a solo artist. But I give homage to the legends. So TI and Outkast is like 1a and 1b.

3.) Luda-Yea, he "stomped" TI when shit hit the fan, but he doesnt always come that hard. But thats okay, cuz Luda is the jester of the south. While he could afford to do so more often, it makes it all the more gratifying when he DOES come hard.

4.) Cee-Lo- Listen to "In Da Wind" wit Trick Daddy and Big Boi, then try to argue against this one.

5.) Killer Mike- First round pick like Micheal Vick.

Honorable Mention-Lil Scrappy

And these dudes like Cee-Lo, Luda, and Killer betta watch out, cuz these dudes comin for that number one spot. And they aint gotta be from the "A" parse, but as long as you let mufuckas know where you REALLY from and you still get love and rep the "A", then you are the "A", long as you from GA. I stay in NC now, but Im from Boston Homes in Marietta and I make sure everybody know it, but I still rep A-Town. Gucci Mane, you from Alabama, stop reppin the A!! So heres the future:

Stat Quo, Bo Hagon, Jody Breeze, Young Jeezy, and I aint heard him spit yet, but I heard good shit bout Al Gator

Posted by: casperstomp at August 2, 2005 06:10 PM

i'ma tell yall straigh up. i aint gonna do no top 5, its gonna b top 3.

1. Andre 3000- simply b/c yall seem to b forgetting the southernplayalistic and ATLiens days. LISTEN to both those albums alone and tell me he dont deserve to b number 1. thats all i need to say. oh yea and jus for yall to kno how far ahead outkast really is, they made that hey ya junk in like 2001, but if they woulda brought it out back then it wouldnt have been as much as a hit as it was in 2003.

2. Luda- dog if luda aint on anyones top 3 then somethin is wrong. granted he aint put no straight up street shit out but it dont matter. in EVERY song on his albums he has said some funny punchlines. and yall gotta realize that he is NOT serious wit any of his rhymes. the closest he's been so far to being just a little bit serious is on stomp. and every body knos that after that stomp track, T.I. left him alone and went on to lil flip who is no where near the level of luda. and dont even get me started on the units luda has sold. he is happy rappin like he is. he is a very creative dude and that stomp shit was a taste of his battle creativity.

3. T.I. - dude has stepped his game up tremendously. i'm one of the few people who has his first album. and let me tell u, from then till now he has gotten so much better. and jus b/c he was like 19 when it came out dont mean nothin cuz lil wayne was cold when he was 19. when trap muzik came out i really didnt kno if i wanted it b/c of the 1st one but after hearing it, i realized that dude has a LOT of potential. i'm convinced that when dude gets older, he will be a top 10 best. up there wit the legends.

honorables: lil' scrappy, pastor troy(HIGHLY underrated), young jezzy, killer mike, cee-lo, jody breeze(dude aint from the A but he is from georgia and dude is fire).

i give straight facts.

Posted by: yung c at August 2, 2005 07:29 PM

50 cent is the best so who cares

Posted by: cook coke crack biyotch at August 2, 2005 07:50 PM

I'm from NC but ATL really put the south on the map. I know the big-booty bass music from Miami was out before ATL blew up; but that doesn't count. Anyway here's my list:

1. Andre 3000-all i have to say is remember this: "trying to outdo the last verse i burst that is my curse." if that ain't lyricism, i don't know what is.
2. Big Boi-he's the yin to Dre's yang. Big's lyrics are more reality-based and he's not seen as lyrical. Like he said:"i don't freestyle, but i can write a verse to kill your whole album." Remember, "can't gamble feeding baby on that dope money, might not always be sufficient."
3. Killer Mike-killa killa is educated and lyrical. he can make you see exactly what he is rapping about. he is definitely slept on. get his mixtape and listen to his dungeon family tribute over the aquemini beat. it's the truth. also listen to the freestyle over the Cupid beat. nothing but fire and lyricism at the same time over a R&B beat.
4. Luda-yeah, he's animated but everyone didn't sell drugs and kill bunch of people. all his albums are good and not one person can knock it. if you want to hear some of Luda on a non-animated tip, listen to Stomp and the Damn remix.
5.Cee-Lo-he brings the strength of a pit bull lyrically with the presence of a pastor. i haven't heard a verse he's spit and didn't like it. listen to his verse on Cell Therapy. it's reality. that's what lyricism is all about.

i know ti and jeezy should be up there. ti is definitely number 6. not because of what he's done recently, but because of I'm Serious. that album was slept on and noone looked at him like that until rubberband man and 24s came out. i know there are alot of underground cats in the A. i'm giving a list from what i've heard. the whole dungeon family, field mob, pastor troy, and all the other mcs i forgot to mention are all tight. also, take notice how the artists in the A are collaborating with each other. everyone seems to be trying to bring this movement as far as it will go. all in all, none of this would be possible without outkast. oh yeah, don't be putting ny mcs on the list. stick to the question at hand.

Posted by: fasteddie at August 2, 2005 08:12 PM

YOU GUYS R ALL STRAIGHT TRIIPIN. ONLY YOU GUYS COULD TURN A SIMPLE QUESTION INTO SHIT LIKE THIS. GOD DAMN. ITS A SIMPLE N EASY QUESTION. thE AUTHOR SAID Below is my list of top 5 Atlanta-based solo lyricists. WHICH MEANS THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A RAPPER IT CAN BE ANY SINGER/RAPPER/MC THATS FROM OR LIVES AROUND ATLANTA. YALL CANT FORGET THE EARLY DAYS OF RNB AND HIP HOP. SO WHATSHER NAME CAN SAY CIARA, WHATS HIS NAME CAN SAY DRE, AND WHOEVER ELSE CAN SAY WHOEVER THE FUCK THEY WANT. I HATE COMIN ON ALL THESE POSTS AND NO MATTER WHAT, YOU ALL BITCH AT EACH OTHER.
A LYRICIST IS SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY WRITES THERE OWN MUSIC. DOESN;T STEAL IT FROM OTHERS LIKE BOW WOW AND CIARA DO, AND DOESN'T NEED NO GHOST RIDERS. HONESTLY I DONT THINK THERES GREAT LYRICISTS IN THE A-TOWN. THERES SOME GOOD ONES BUT NOT GREAT.

1)LUDA HAS BEEN HOLDIN IT DOWN FOR AWHILE BUT HE HAS GONE A LITTLE COMMERCIAL FOR ME.
2)I REALLY LIKE YOUNG JEEZY AND IF HE COULD JUST STOP THIS GANGSTA GARBAGE HED BE SET.

Posted by: Mc Cav at August 2, 2005 09:01 PM

Ludacris Lil wayne t.i. jeezy man luda has a style that no nigga can fuck with Lil wayne is so sick in freestyling he is the next jay z Luda will battle anybody anytime oh yeah field mob is with Disturbing tha peace

Posted by: Jt money at August 3, 2005 01:57 AM

Outkast and Goodie MOB freshest music out of Atlanta, Young Cheezy is not even close to being a lyricist, Luda is dope but he is from Chicago, TI is on the come up I definately respect his abilities but other than that I can't call it...

SCARFACE always has and always be from HOUSTON TEXAS born and raised don't ever forget that youngstas

T-Rock Nobody metion him he's better than most these people. He used to be with 3-6 Mafia.

Posted by: psg at August 3, 2005 08:49 AM

Yall keep saying these niggas from here and these niggas from their. Who you know? And plus, if a nigga moved from Arizona to NY when he was 4 yrs. old and the nigga 25 now, the nigga from NY.

Didnt Luda move to the A when he was a young kid?

Hell I was born and raised in one hood but live the last 12 years of my life in another one and thats the one I rep.

So get off this he aint from the A shit. Yall A town niggas need to call these catz out who never lived in the A and repping it. But if a nigga lived and ran the street with A town niggas, let him rep. My cousin from NC but rep Marietta/A town all day. No disrespect to me at all. He been there since he was was 10.

But my top 4....

Dre
Luda
TI
Cee Lo

*Big Boi, Pastor Troy, Killa Mike fight for #5.

Jeezy my nigga but he gansta wit it. Not lyrical! A nigga can be hot but not lyrical. His shit in my car right now and been there since it came out in stores (had the boot leg also).

Separate "what you like to hear" from "lyrical". Please!

Posted by: dirty NC at August 3, 2005 09:09 AM

My top Five:
1) Pastor Troy- Did you hear vica/versa (cant spell)nuff said

2)Dre- nuff said

3)TIP- i'm serious

4) Killa Mike

5)Luda- past all the booty shaking and fantasies dude can spit

Honorable metion- Scrappy, jody breeze

Now whoever said Bow wow was a lyricist need to stop taking the whitney Houston appraoch to life.
nor is ciara a lyricist. Forgive me if I'm mistaken but don't you have to say something more than just puppy love, partying, and I love gurl to be a lyricist.

And 50 cent is not the best he's not even the best in g-unit he's like ..... last :0)

Posted by: Blu at August 3, 2005 10:22 AM

Bow Wow is consistent though, you would have to give him credit for just selling gold for the past 7 years. I'd have to put Big Boi in the top 5 somewhere but anybody could be honorable mention.

Posted by: Nickels at August 4, 2005 01:42 AM

Top 5 here it goes

5- Pastor Troy
I'm from the bronx and I know Troy be putting the A on fire. Listen to visa/versa and should I remind yall about we ready? Recently he fell of that's why he is so low on the list.

4- Ludacris
Consistant, only been in the game for about 5 years and is a household name. Wordplay and punchlines all day. If this nicca can be serious for one second he can rise on the list.

3- Cee lo
Peep this, every single track he is on, his words you listen to, his high pitched airy voice is crack, stood out the whole goodie mobb. His albums were garbage and became a weird nicca.

2- T.I
What more can I say?

1- Andrea 3000
Spit slow, fast, versitle. You can't mess wit him. If he can come back down to earth we can here more verses. He sings, he's different. Evolves himself every year. He shits on big boi.

Killer Mike is garbage, Scarface is from atlanta? He's garbage and over rated. Who else? Jody breeze has no material so how is he even considered. Listen jeezy fire but he doesn't have material, what's hot now may not be hot later, a buzz can't get you on the top 5. F*ck killer mike, any one of the dudes from field mobb will shit on him.

Posted by: Kash at August 4, 2005 11:18 AM

I agree with Nickels and Kash list, but I would have to put T.I.P on the top of the list, his new shit is soo crazzzy! People you need to look out for Jody Breeze check out his mixcd, Young Jeezy is spitting real shit, Mac Boney of the P$C he has crazy lyrics, also Dro of Grand Hustle he is sick with it, and Bo Hagon yall sleeping on him, he is going to hot. Lil Scrappy has to swallow the spit in his mouth before he gets on the mic. Oh yeah Slick Pulla is nice too.

Posted by: Mahogany at August 4, 2005 12:28 PM

Also, T.I.P will be always better than Luda, the only reason why he didn't respond to that song "Stomped" his b/c Luda ran quickly to Tip to apologize before he could respond diss record to him.

And I believe it...
