Exclusive: Plies & Big Gates Commit The Ultimate Music Industry Sin!!

First off I want to say, that I do not know Plies or his brother Big Gates of Big Gates Records on any level. And though I'm not a fan of the well-spoken munchken, I still don't care to throw grease on any one person for no reason. But after hearing what allegedly Plies and his brother is doing to some producers who worked on Plies' new album 'Da Realist' I find it neccessary to put expose how unreal 'Da Realist' really is.
My source, who is a well connected industry veteran, just called me and put me on to some shiesty moves being made by the rappers camp.
The Atlantic Records/Big Gates artist' new album is in stores now. So why am I hearing that a number of producers have yet to be paid in full for their services?
From what I could gather, a few producers have been attempting to contact Big Gates in hopes of collect their backend money for work completed off the new album. For those of you who may not know, producers charge a fee for services rendered. If a producer were to charge, let's say me, 20k to do a project normally they charge a certain fee on the front-end and the rest is collected when the album is complete. However, with today's declining music industry, many try to play the system and wait until the album drops before paying the producers.
Could the rumored 95k copies sold in its first week be the reason for non-payment? It's unclear where the break down allegedly occured, but with only a handful of days left before Chritmas is hear some producers are still waiting to collect their money. And they are pissed about it.
The ironic part of this entire story is that Washington has a song on his new project called "I Got Plenty Of Money" and in it the Florida MC is boasting about how he paid 140k for his goon chains, and brags about Maziratti's and Bentley's etc. So the only question I have is: If Plies is so paid then why doesn't he take care of his producers so they can finish buying holiday gifts, groceries, etc.
Though the blame may fall on the mini-MC's shoulder, my source wanted me to let everybody know that he doubts Plies even knows about the problem because Gates handles "the business side of things". But seeing as though these two are brothers, and are extremely close, I am going to lean on the notion that perhaps Plies isn't all that innoncent in all of this.
Damn! Not paying your peoples on Christmas? In a blog filled world, really? I bet you Drumma Boy and No ID got their checks.
Let's hope Plies doesn't sick his notorious Goon's on me. If I suddenly catch a beat-down y'all know who did it.

Hitsdailydouble.com said he will do between 95k to 105 k first week based on first day sales. still good if you ask me but how he not gonna pay his people. Guess its hard times for everybody

I just saw his interview on thisis50.com and he said that when he brought that goone chain he was like it was a bad investment and he thought to his self " DAM MY SON TUITION NOT EVEN PAID" These rappers need to smarten up with there money. 140,000 for a chain is not a good look if this guy dont care to put up money for his son or pay the people that help him make money how can he call his self REAL? Plies aint the only one. There are many artist out there whose labels are not paying producers in a timely manner. I produce too and some of the artist, not sayin no names still owe me my backend money. On one project it took 3 months to get my back end money, to where the money is no longer worth it if i gotta wait 3 months for it. $3,000 over 3 months aint shit, thats damn near minimum wage my nigga.
Oh yea and another thing I need to make clear. The blogger said 20k for a track. That is one of the biggest misconceptions ever. Aint too many producers gettin that much for a track. Not nowadays anyway. Everybody's prices is way down. You lucky to get 10k for a track. Anything between 3k and 10k is more realistic for the majority of the producers out there. You can almost literally count on your hand the producers thats gettin 20, 30, 40k or more for a track. Unless you produced a single like "lollipop" or some shit like that you aint gettin 20k for a track. You better hope the record does well, because the real money is in the publishing.
This music business is pretty much over with . What is crazy is if i was a artist i would pay the producers before I pay anybody because they dont get to go and do shows. You take the beat they made and go make 20 to 30 k a nite doing shows performing beats that a producer made and for a artist to not pay a one time fee is crazy and just show you alot of cats are not as real as they say they are

I was a plies fan but this is just silly 140,000 for a chain but you don' t pay producers. No more beats for plies we are going to boycott his album.
I have been running a plies site for many years and I know most of this article is just rubbish,
do some research on plies he isn't some one who spends a whole lot of money on chains in comparison to other artists, he even has stated many times he would rather buy real estate then buy a chain.

On the real Plies did not have anything to do with the producers not being paid. Even the source stated that most likely he knows nothing about it. I know for a fact that Plies is a real dude. Once he finds out about the situation he will make sure the producers are taking care of. He is a humble and honest person.
Thats sad that we got people in this world making a honest living to provide for there family with there God given talents and YOu have a guy like Plies take it for granted and not pay the people who help him be able to provide for his family. And he rub in in all his fans and supporter's face by wearing all those Jewel's on T.V. and bragging about 140,000 dollar chain! This is not in response to the article about Plies, but rather the author of the article. Dude, I don't have a lot of time to say it, but Gyant has to have the most grammatical and spelling errors of any blogger in the nation!
