Will Eminem & Andre 3k Do Right By Asher Roth & B.o.B.?

With acts like Asher Roth and B.o.B. on the verge of bringing in some fresh air to this stale ass hip-hop game, I can't help but wonder if Andre 3000 and Eminem is going to embrace or shun the young up and coming MCs.

Let's be honest for a moment; Asher Roth sounds like a young Eminem and B.o.B. has a young Andre 3000 vibe down to the lyrical ability. In short, these two are almost carbon copies of their much older musical inspirations.

I know I am not alone when I say that hip-hop has gotten boring and the reason why I think it's become so mind-numbing is because a lot of the cats who are in the game, have been in the game for far too long.

Jermaine Dupri, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Lil' Wayne, Nas, Eminem, 50 Cent the list could go on. I've always looked at this business, particularly in hip-hop as a means to get in, make your money, become creative and get out. My point to all of this is, is that we've got a lot of old ass men in the game who are trying to still be taste makers and trendsetters, but they've reached their limit. And rather then embrace today's young MCs and try to help them take their respective places often times the up and comers get shafted. What's up with that?

Jermaine Dupri hasn't had a hit in God know's how long, but rather then looking for the new young JD where he can play a role in molding and helping a young producer extraordinaire, the "mogul" continues to look for other avenues to remain relevant.

Do people like Diddy and Jay-Z think that they'll be able to do this forever? What's become standard practice in the shark infested waters of the music business is that rappers would rather sign you and shelf you. That way you're not taking any of their shine.

Personally, I feel that Eminem and Andree 3000 have a unique opportunity to embrace these cats.

Hip-Hop has no chance of surviving if rappers continue to be sellfish with the spotlight. Sean Cater is still dropping albums. The man is on the verge of the big 4-0 and he's cutting new records like he's the Hov from 1995. Nah bruh, I'm done with you. I want to hear the new, young, broke Jigga who's hungry for the mic.

Jay's got million up millions of dollars, he's won every musical award their is to win in hip-hop, he's married the flyest chick in the game. What in the hell can this man say on a record that's gonna make me relate to him? NOTHING!

I just think its time for the old heads of the game to pass the torch on to the next big thing.

Asher, B.o.B. and Charles Hamilton just collaborated on a new song titled "A Change Gonna Come". Well, that chance needs to hurry up and get here.

Talk to y'all lata,

Again more hate from sohh, who cares if jay-z is 40 i grew listening to that man yall need to stop the hate i don't see no one saying the richest man in the world should leave our planet to open doors for the next man, if an MC is nice his nice and his career will progress look at where Luda is today and yall were still hating back then saying his just a radio DJ man get off their balls

theres so much hate on SOHH from people that supposed to be running this shit..I havent heard BOB before but Asher nice, but Em be on some Mad Scientist/Genius shit, Asher got a couple more years to carve out his own sound. And these days you take co-signs with a grain of salt, remember when Tyrese try to rap and Snoop co-signed...my point exactly. And let Jigga be 40, tell me are any new cats worth listening fucking with him lyrically, id have to say not

Every other genre of music has artists that tour and/or record on into their 60's. Why can't hip hop artists do the same thing? As long as Jigga, JD, etc. are relevant there's no reason for them to stop. Even if they weren't relevant, there's still no reason for them to stop doing what they love. Jay's 'American Gangster' was one of the best cd's of 07. JD has a monster on his hands with Q da Kid(listen to dude's lyrics and tell me he ain't nice.)

There's room for both established artists and newer artists to co-exist. If an artist has the talent and drive it may take awhile but there's a spot for them on the national/international level. The thing about hip hop is the cream usually rises to the top if the artist is persistent. 2Pac, Jigga, Tip, Luda etc. weren't superstars out of the gate and look at how their careers went.

G, you love blogging and will be blogging in some capacity 10-15 years from now. Is there an age when people should retire from blogging? No, the same way there isn't and shouldn't be an age where people retire from hip hop.

P.S- if Quincy Jones would of retired at 40, we wouldn't have Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall" and "Thriller."

Recently, quite a few celebrities and pro athletes were said to appear on the millionaire luxury club "***RiderCupid. c om***" to hook up with hot girls, ladies, models... OMG!!! Are these famous guys fond of internet dating for now?? Maybe they are indeed so rich that they feel boring sometimes to need new things? It was reported on MSN Charlie Sheen has found his girl there last May.

This is the shit I'm talking about..... Hip-hop is the only music form that people try to put a "age limit" too. You see that they don't do that shit with no other form of music but hip-hop. If a rapper is nice he'll get hated on, if he's wack he'll sell a million ringtones and be no. 1 on 106 & Park for 20 weeks. That's the problem, ain't no new artist coming out like Pac,Nas,Biggie, etc. but then you hate on the elite class because they "old". Hip hop will never get the respect as rock,r&b,country, etc. because we tear ourself down and bait ourself into stereotypes.

who could take the touch from the old heads is the ques u should ask listen to jay's last album or nas hip hop is dead and appreciate the verbal wordplay in the lyrics and tell me who from the new school could hang lil wayne nooooooo

Since when are you supposed to "do right" by biters? Newcomers need to make their own lane, and not expect the legends to pull over on their behalf- what, diamond and platinum selling acts like Em and 3000 should give up their slots and gracefully bow out for some biting ass internet sensations? GTFOH....the truth is, the old school still runs it- word to Luda, Scarface, Em, Dre, Nas, Jay-Z, Outkast, Cube, Snoop, etc. all being over 30 and still dominating (or at least prominently influencing) the game; younguns either need to accept their role in the shadows, for now, or introduce something new to the game- it's not enough to remind cats of an artist they like...

I do hope that Em and 3stacks will embrace the young dudes. Never heard B.O.B. but if you're saying they sound like Andre then they have to be worth checking out. Asher Roth is pretty ill, but like someone else said, he's got a lot of work to do to be at Em's level, lyrically. I'm still hoping for Em and Andre to do a joint together. I don't think the older cats should hang up the mic, but hip hop is typically viewed at as a younger generations music. Might not be 'cool' to be rapping at 65 years old.

Pass the dutchie 'pon the left-hand side...

Yeah...smoked out and loc'd out on a Wednesday morning. Gyant, I know you like Asher a lot and for your sake, I won't hurt little homey...but here's to hoping that Eminem rips that little Angel-Food cake nigga a new asshole with some straight murda verses and kill that little preppie's career. Please, Asher is not fucking with Em and he should consider it a fucking blessing if Em has even heard of dude. That's real. And, honestly, I'd give a fuck about a co-sign from 3000. Until that homo stops dressing and acting like an Englishman, then he better not step near one of my tracks. Holla. Illegal1, where you iz, son?!

It seems that there are a lot of different opinions on this issue. But I have to agree with Gyant. And I have been saying this for the longest time. I'm tired of these old ass rappers trying to stay in the spotlight. I grew up listening to Hov's music too, but it gets to a point when you have made your millions and got your shine. Now it seems the game has been oversaturated with the same old ass artists who really aint puttin out hits. Lets face it, as hot as Hova used to be, he probably wouldn't be as consistent or people feeling him if he was jumpin on everybody's shit. Hip-Hop is suppose to be an avenue where you can get in, rise to the top, make ur $$$$$, and get the fuck out while your ahead. Real Niggas is looking for that new, hunger in an artist, who you can hear in their music that they are starving and have a lot to offer. Personally, I'm tired of all of these old lames that's still in da game. My advice is if your over 30 and have been in the da spotlight already for bout a decade, go somewhere and help break a new up & coming artist. I don't understand why rappers put other rappers that they sign on the fuckin shelf. Only in this rap biz, they do that shit. If you are a real, true business man, you are suppose to help that man in every way you can for him to succeed. So both of ya'll can get that gwap. If you shelve a rapper just cause u fraid of dat nigga takin your shine, then that's when you know it's time for you to retire or just leave the game. If an rapper has the opportunity to make both of you $$$, why shelve him??? Especially if you stand to make more off the album then the actual artist who put in the time, work & effort. That's like the dumbest shit you can do. And Camron did that to Juelz. How lame you lookin now. When will all the old ass, salty ass rappers learn that the streets is always looking for dat new heat.

This Guy Bobby Ray is the future and the future is RIGHT NOW!
CHANGE IS ALL AROND!
Asher Roth is comin out hard too!
These guys are so real!
The world needs them!

I don't want to listen to anyone who is a carbon copy of Em or Dre 3K. In regards to the latter, are you seriously comparing B.o.B. to Andre? At any time during his career? Please. What Play On and others said is correct. It's not, and shouldn't be about, age. This ain't the dope game like some idiots want to make it out to be. This is not the streets, where you get in, get paid, then get out before you get old. Geez.

I haven't heard the Asher kid, but I doubt he is anything like Em was, even when he was young. If he was he wouldn't need cheerleaders to get folk to embrace him.

Hip Hop/Rap music is music. Period. The sooner we all remove this ghetto ass, if it ain't hood it ain't real, Willie Lynch ass mentality from it the sooner it will get back to where it was prior to the last 5 or 6 years or so...PROGRESSION!!! Black people and folk who embraced our musical culture created and/or pioneered virtually every form of popular music out today!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this the best we can do with our new baby? Talk about it like it's a petty street hustle and how the pioneers need to stop rapping?
