SOHH Gyant Randomness: WTF? The Music Industry Is Putting Pressure On The Urban Market To Save The Biz?? Plus, Nicole Garner & BET Team Up For Style Suite 2008!!

It's no mystery that the music industry is struggling, but can Beyonce, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Ludacris, Ciara, Andre 3000 and Jay-Z save it this fourth quarter? And why in the hell are people sleeping on Big Boi??

There's a new report out that's projecting the pressure of the music business to break even onto certain key entertainers who are all dropping albums in November and December.

This year has proved to be once again a weak and financially weak year for the record industry. In order to break even with just last year's numbers, over 200 million copies must be sold in this last quarter.

The 3rd quarter of this year totaled 297.9 million albums sold, which is 12 percent less than last year. In 2007 there were 500.5 million albums, 30 percent of that coming from the fourth quarter. So... will this fourth quarter pay off?

It certainly has enough big name releases to give it a chance. With albums from Beyonce, Ciara, Kanye West, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes and possibly Dr. Dre, Eminem and Andre 3000 all coming up this year at least equaling last years numbers is certainly in reach.

Labels are worried as major retailers like Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy and Circuit City have their stock down 82 percent and may be on the verge of bankruptcy. On the upside, sales are up as albums from Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and T.I. all are selling extremely well.

I know hip-hop is powerful, but can the urban market sustain this pressure? What nobody in country music can help the industry out? Can't somebody call up Garth Brooks or somebody?

And how in the hell is this report going to mention names like Busta Rhymes, and Andre three-stacks, and not mention Big Boi? While I'm not a fan of Big Boi's newest single with MJB [I can't even think of the name of it], he's a bankable artist who's gonna bring in a couple of million. [In my Nancy Grace tone] "Bank On It Buddy"!

Plus, there's still been no release date announced for Kanye West. So he may be no help at all.

What y'all think; can they pull it off?

Oh, And Before I For Get.......
