My dude Asher Roth hasn't even put out an album yet and already people are whispering about what he's going to do now that there's talk of an unexpected Eminem return. Is there about to be a battle brewing?

Contrary to popular belief I personally don't understand the Eminem comparisons when it comes to Asher Roth. When I first blogged about him eight months ago, and got a chance to listen to his music first, I didn't immediately compare him to Detroit MC, Marshall Mathers.

I mean other then their comparable skin tones, I don't see much else that are alike between the two. Just because they are white boyz doesn't mean that Asher is copying Em's style. Asher's a college kid who came from a middle class family. He's all about peace and positivity and doesn't have the rage of our other faired skinned rapper.

Unfortunately when there's only one of white guy in the hip-hop game thats doing it like Eminem any white boy afterwards will get a Em reference on some level. But tell me this, did Eminem book 5-10k shows before he dropped an album? Did Eminem have a lot of key players in the industry that's waiting to see what Asher is going to do? Did Eminem get the same critical acclaim that Asher is getting before his first album dropped?

Asher is in a lane all his own and anyone who can't see it is one big hater who just refuses to fess up to the fact that a white boy came in the game [again] and took the game from all the "street" dudes. Did Em make it easier on Asher as being one of the firsts - absolutely. But that's where it ends.

Plus, I hear there's a new record that Asher has just completed that's going to end all the talk on any future comparisons. You know I'm going to get the exclusive on that.

I can smell a rap battle brewing.

Asher's voice sounds like Em's. That's what the comparison is all about and if you don't think so, ya got to get your hears checked.

your hears?
You need to get your spelling checked.
Asher's a beast.

Asher Roth=TRASH. Once you get over the fact that dudes white, you'll see that dude's just average at best. That's it, he's no Eminem. And the only reason he's getting this much attention is cause he's using the internet as a tool for promotion via Mixtape, You Tube, Myspace , his own website. Em didn't have that coming up. Em was Unsigned Hype before he got his deal, Asher Roth wasn't cause he wack. Em was well known in the Underground and respected by lots of emcees. Busta Rhymes said of Eminem when he was coming up that " he was a breath of fresh air ", (you could see that at MTV.com). Missy Elliott liked him so much that she gave him a whole song on her album (BusaRhyme). Eminem also had TRL to break him. TRL is no more. Good luck at BET Asher. Point Blank, dudes a total cornball.

You may be jumping to conclusions when you say that the comparison is about skin tones ... there are random other white rappers that are out there that are not compared to Em.

I'm a big Em fan and I just recently got up on Asher Roth. I don't think it's a bad comparison. It should be a compliment. Eminem is the shit. Maybe Em didn't get the same "acclaim" that Asher did, but he damn sure paved the way for white rappers in the game. So you need to give the man his props. And besides that, when Em was out, the internet was not as influential, so whose to say Em wouldn't have gotten the same, probably more, critical acclaim.

The comparisons really just come down to the swag. The best way to see this is in Asher's songs Lark on my go-kart, cannon and the lounge. In Em's first two albums he tended to rap about seemingly nonsensical ideas that were just fun. He made fun of people and concepts and his comment on society was cynical. Eminem's rap was more a reflection of the generation of that time as Asher's rap seems to reflect the generation of this time. Em's fans grew up with him and Asher is taking over from there it would seem.

If it comes down to a battle ... Asher will get his ass served to him in a plate ... it will not be a smart move to fuck with Em ... word to the wise.

It's not that Asher is in a lane all to himself ... Eminem is in a lane all to himself and people cannot make the comparison.

It is most definitely not the return of Eminem, because no one can be Eminem, consequently, no one can be Asher Roth. The men are on their own level of intensity.
