After Six Weeks Why Ain't She "Right Here" @ Number One?

Sorry my ATL hip-hop heads, but I've executed an executive blog order to replace today's atl blog with another topic in hopes of making y'all aware of the hotness!

I don't know what's going on with y'all music lovers out there, but y'all are TRIPPIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Former Pop Star, Brandy, released a new uptempo track titled, "Right Here [Departed]" and after almost six weeks of downloads, video plays, etc, I don't see our girl on the top of the charts.

What is matter with all of you? Do you know how much bullsh*t came out [insert anything Nelly, Jermaine Dupri, LL Cool J, Usher, Keri Hilson, G-Unit, Ashanti projects here] this year?

This chick comes back after a long hiatus, re-teams up with Rodney Jerkins, and drops us something that is both deep and has a dope beat.

No disrespect to Monica, but Brandy came back..and she came back HARD! Why are we not standing behind this record for our girl? Come on people!

If you ain't got go to itunes and get it. And if you by some chance [ I don't know how in the hell you couldn't] haven't seen the video check it out here dammit.

Please go out and support the bullsh*t we got to listen to, today!

Talk to y'all lata,

Gyant's Honorable Mention: Warner Music Group "Special Ops Of Atlanta," Setting The Standard On How To Treat Bloggers!

There aren't many times when I have something positive to say about a record label. I mean hell, most of them still refuse to accept and embrace the power of the internet. And for the few that do, they seem to have a pretty warped idea of what "new media" is. However, Atlanta's Special Ops division to the larger Warner Music Group understands and appreciates the bloggers of the world. They appreciate us so much that they even threw a party for all the top bloggers who are doing their thing this past Friday.
Yancey Richardson and Moses Davis got together and came up with the idea to throw a private, intimate party for the new media who throw Warner Music Group acts on our backs and let the internet "streets" know about who's hot, etc.

Randy Roper [writersblockmedia.net, Maurice Garland [Therezidue.com], Michelle[Straightfromthea.com], Necole Bitchie[necolebitche.com], Miesha White [socialaddition.blogspot.com], Blogxilla[Blogxilla.com], Tawana[tawanatales.com, myself, and a few other new media blog sites all came out.

Personally, I've been one of the biggest spokesmen for new media. One of the biggest reason's why artists are failing left, and right [outside of putting out crappy music] is their failure to acknowledge and respect bloggers. Most of them are SOHH turned off by us, and therefore ruin their chances off capitalizing off of our readers and followers.

Y'all know me. I can one day big an artist or entertainer up for doing something dope, and then in the same blog blast them for doing something stupid. But, hey, at least I'm blogging about you.

As we stand on the verge of a new music industry, it's important for you labels to seriously understand the importance of what bloggers can do for you.

And luckily enough for them - Warner Music Group understands and embraces the new media movement.

Words can't express how pleased I am that someone stepped up and showed all of us luv. Because no matter what you think about bloggers; please know that this isn't a game.

This is hard muthaf*ckin work! And that's real!!

One of my sayings that I use often is: Record labels don't start trends, they simply follow them. Well today, Yancey and Moses for damn sure started one. And that's why they get the Honorable Mention this week!

Don't Get It Twisted, T.I. Is Still The King Of Atlanta, Celebrates Birthday Bash With Some Fine Ass Victorians! Plus, Why Y'all ATL Industry Kats So Lame??

Written By Gyant

The self-proclaimed "King Of The South", T.I.'s, birthday weekend has finally come to a close. And while Tip, and the Grand Hustle crew executed several events over the weekend, the gas shortages in -and around- the city restricted myself to only checking out the southern MC's private birthday party that was held at the Biltmore in midtown.

Check out my coverage below.

The theme of the ultra exclusive affair was Victorian. It seemed as though no expense was spared as some of Atlanta's elite came out to celebrate another born day for the embattled rapper. Kevin Lyles, Toccarra, DJ Drama, cast member's from Bravo's "Real Housewives", Ryan Cameron, T-Boz and the entire Grand Hustle crew [B.O.B., Dro, Big Kuntry, Xtaci, Alphamega, etc] all came out to celebrate with their Grand Hustler leader.

Ok, so that's the official sh*t for the publicist, let's get into what y'all really want to know.

On the real the party was dope! I loved the theme, however I've got to look at certain people with the crooked eye.

Look, we all know that Atlanta is the most poppin' city as far as music, and the extremely shaky music business goes. In the ATL everybody seems to be doing something industry related [whether they frontin' or not]. SOHH with that said, I'm always baffled at how people put on their groupie jacket's when they get private invites.

I don't want to call out any body's name, but it's mad whack when you do the following at an exclusive affair:

1. Crowd the red carpet area getting in the way of the media who's being paid to get their stories, interviews and pictures for the people that WEREN'T invited, but who still want to take part by checking out the blogs, newspapers and sites the next day.

2. Standing around holding up the wall while the DJ is dropping the hottest beats to get the party poppin. Because in their minds the party doesn't start until the "celebrity" is in the building.

3. Staring at a celebrity in their respective VIP area like their muthaf*ckin' gold fish in a damn fish tank.

It's no mystery that I don't tear up these streets like I used in an attempt to give you, the readers, a birds-eye view of the party scene. And that's because the party scene has gotten extremely whack.

Now, when you go to party, instead of everyone trying to get their party on with the spirits flowing, and the music blasting, all you see are a thousand camera's from people embracing their inner blogger.

Tell me; what in the hell are going to do with a picture of T.I. on your damn razor cellphone?

Last year, T.I. and his celebrity friends, Wayne and Jeezy threw one of the most flyest parties of the year. But the main reason why it was deemed as one of the illest parties, was primarily because everyone's priority was about getting their party on.

Some of y'all industry people really KILL me!

But it's whatever. For everyone who's reading this; if you're ass is an invited guest to a slammin' party, and you're not coming out to party. Then keep your ass at home. I mean hell, even T.I. had to try and brush you groupies off by moving to a private room [which I just SOHH happened to be in, btw] to get away from the overwhelming nonsense. Get off these n*ccas d*cks it's not that serious!

Oh and if you're that chick, or worse, that DUDE standing in a sea of reporters, journalists and bloggers trying to get you a picture of a celebrity, please know now you're SOHH Lammmmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Here's the pictures from the party:

And you know I got that video for you to:

pecial shoutout to Nicole Garner of The Garner Circle, Hannah Kang [who was DOING IT in that cream gown], Laura Giles as well as the entire Grand Hustle who had a hand in kicking off Tips first "Takeover Weekend" I can't wait until next year!!!

Oh and for those of you who didn't know, I was twittering from the party and you can find out what I had to say about certain folks [here]

But since I know that a lot of y'all ain't on Twitter like that just yet, here's a few comments I made in real time that night:

Ok so the theme seems to be Victorian!!!

Why Mizzz Shyneka from Hot 107.9 trying to act like she's the life of the damn party? I wonder how her lonely nights are doing.

They've locked a select few in with TI and Tiny and now nuccas outside are acting up! Lawd!!

Somebody tell Mizz Shyneka that girls with that much cottage cheese on the legs should NEVER where skirts that short

Keri Hilson Teams Up With Lil Wayne For New Song!

I did a blog on Keri Hilson recently [if you missed it, unfortunately I can't provide a link. the archives are all effed up right now] expressing my opinion on how Keri needs to stick to writing hit songs, and give up her aspirations of becoming a breakout soloist.

Though many people agreed with me, a lot of people told me that I just had to check out her new song with rap star Lil Wayne called "Turn Off". Check it out below.

I had heard about the Polow produced track, but am I the only one who isn't so quick to listen to any and everything that drops these days?

I miss the days when new material would drop from our favorite musicians. Sometimes the anticipation would build up so much it almost felt like Christmas or a birthday. But the quality of music has suffered SOHH much that I now begrudgingly listen to new songs.

Janet Jackson used to be my most favorite artist on the planet. But even she's disappointed me SOHH many times these past few years that I don't even rush to listen to her ish anymore.

My feeling is if it's hot, I mean truly HOT,  then I'll hear about it. Someone will put me on. But anyway - back to the song.

Listen, I don't know if Keri or her people have been checking the blogs out because this ish is a dramatic departure from Keri's signature sound.

It's SOHH different in fact, that I wouldn't have known it was Hilson if not previously made aware, but is that a good thing?

Keri's collaborated with Rich Boy, Nas and Britney Spears [just to name a few] and she's only gotten a mediocre response from the buying public. But when she changes her style,  just a little bit, everyone seems to be receiving the new material with open arms, and most importantly open ears.

Are you following where I'm going with this?

The fact that the song writing genius changed up her normal style and is receiving such praise - proves my original point that she's just not ready to be released "In A Perfect World".

"Turn Off" is the best track I've heard yet. Let's hope it gets people interested. Is it Poppin' or Floppin'?

Gyant's "Honorable Mention": DJ Don Cannon!

doncannon.jpg

This week's honorable mention goes out to Atlanta DJ/Producer Don Cannon.

The super producer and Aphilliates co-founder, is making some major moves as we go into the industry's fourth quarter. The gargantuan entertainer is diversifying himself more and more with each passing day. And has a bunch new projects coming out over the course of the next few months.

Cannon, produced 2 tracks "Undisputed" and "Everybody Hates Cris ft. Chris Rock" on Ludacris upcoming album, Theater of the Mind. The outgoing DJ also produced one track on Young Jeezy's new album The Recession. The track is entitled "Circulate".

He is also working on the as-yet-untitled debut album for Asher Roth. Don recently produced the new soundtrack for Tyler Perry TBS Sitcom "House of Payne" featuring Chrisette Michelle.

As a founding member of one of Atlanta's premier DJ collectives, "The Aphilliates," DJ Cannon has spun for the top tastemakers in the entertainment, sports and music industry.

The homie is known for his pioneering skills with a classical style of music that blends the street edge of Philadelphia [Cannon's hometown] and the southern bounce of Atlanta.

Cannon's redefined swagger led to his first major placement, the platinum single "Go Crazy" for Young Jeezy, which featured Jay-Z on the remix , from the artist's acclaimed debut album Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101.

The trend-setting DJ has produced tracks on albums ranging from Fabolous' "Jokes On You" to 50 Cent's "Man Down", and multiple tracks on DJ Drama's highly anticipated "Gangsta Grillz: The Album" including the industry favorite "The Art of Storytelling Pt. 4" Outkast ft. Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry.

And let's not forget his credits on one of the year's most popular mixtapes "The Greenhouse Effect".

The music industry can count on Cannon to balance both sides of his artistry as he meshes the sounds from the East Coast and Dirty South.

In a time where the industry is spiraling out of control, Don Cannon's career is thriving more and more solidifying himself amongst the music business's elite.

Never one to boast, Mr. Cannon is most definitely doing his thing, and deserves the recognition.

Rockcitysmall_2

My new favorite group, Rock City is setting the sh*t off with their new single. The track is titled "Ride With Obama" and it's off their new mixtape "Put The F*cking Album Out". Check out the information below.

Well I'll Be Damned, B.O.B. Drops The Deepest Track Of The Year For The 'Lost Generation". Plus, Da Weatherman Is Looking For A Wifey..Kinda!

bob-2008-09-24-300x300.jpg

Well wonders never cease! Atlanta rapper B.O.B. has just dropped a fuggin amazing new track appropriately titled "Generation Lost".

[Listen To Track Here]

I can't tell y'all how off the chain this sh*t is! How many songs are out there that don't say SH*T? What, every song on radio!

I've said since day one that record labels do not create trends, they follow them. But now that ideal is starting to infiltrate rappers themselves. However, B.O.B. is separating himself from the riff-raff with a quality sound.

The track was written and produced by B.O.B., and as of right now hasn't been confirmed as a track for his new album, The Adventures of B.O.B., which is projected to be dropped in the first or second quarter.

The young MC is not waiting on his album to drop though. His manager, Rich told me that outside of recording like crazy for his album he's also writing and producing for other artists.

The Atlantic records signed MC wrote the T.I./John Legend collaboration "Slide Show". He's touring like crazy. And he also got a spot on Tip's new album Paper Trail.

I've had the opportunity to chop it up with the MC and he's a really humble and good dude.

As long as he keeps dropping ish like this, I will be NOTHING but supportive!

Make sure you keep up with everything B.O.B. on his myspace page [Here]

But While You're Taking In The Fly Sounds Of B.O.B....

the-weatherman-2008-09-24-300x300.jpg

Atlanta rapper, Da Weatherman seems to be doing big things. Y'all already know he shot a video with the Glenn Twins last month. But now homie is trucking forward with a new reality show.

While the details are sketchy at the moment, what is known is that Weatherman is holding a casting call, and is looking for all the ladies to be apart of it. His people tell me there will be a MAJOR cash reward. For information [Go Here]

Soulja "Damn" Boy Acts Reckless Again, Bets A Buddy To Down An Entire Bottle Of Patron!

soulja-boy-2008-08-22-300x300.jpg

Whatever happen to the idea and principle that celebrities are also role models?? Soulja Boy has just uploaded yet another outlandish and reckless video. Check out what happens when young adults with tons of money, no supervision and a bottle of Tequilla are left with a video camera.

Yo, I don't know what's more disturbing; The fact that this kat is pressured into drinking an entire bottle of Patron or the fact that Soulja Boy and his crew would even joke around about alcohol poisoning.

Listen, I'm not a cornball. I understand that when we're young we often times do the most stupidest sh*t. However, when you're a celebrity I really expect for you to know better than to put pranks like this on the internet so that all your young fans to view.

Clearly there aren't many adults who are listening to Soulja Boy, SOHH I would really expect for him to act with a touch more common sense.

Firstly, the Atlanta pop star [because he for damn sure ain't hip-hop in my eyes] isn't even legally allowed to drink. That in itself is a huge issue.

Secondly, what's he going to do if one of his fans tries to re-enact this sh*t in real life?

Any good attorney would find a way to sue Soulja Boy, Mr. Collipark, Interscope and Youtube.

Really, I just don't know how much more of this reckless genre that we we now call hip-hop, I can take.

Since he didn't say it allow me: Kids PLEASE don't try that ish at home. Trust me when I say that Patron is not for the amateur or under aged!

My people...SMH!

Poppin Or Floppin Video Of The Week: Rocko's "This Morning"!

rocko.jpg

I know that SOHH.com's current transition to our new site is getting more than frustrating for those who've been conditioned to come here to get your information, but please try to bare with us. I got some really good blogs that I'm just waiting to post to get you all talking. However, in the meantime let's give Rocko some props on his new video for "This Morning".

Director Gabriel Hart continues to make his mark in the industry by directing his second Def Jam artist in a row. Hart anchored Def Jam recording artist, Rocko's third single video "This Morning", off of his debut album Self Made. Watch it below.

I think the video is dope! Rarely do hip-hop acts, in today's music climate, put SOHH much into their work like Rocko did with this one. Gabriel Hart, put his foot in this video.

You just know Monica and the kids had to have their cameo's in the flick, didn't you.

But what do you think?

Reports are coming out that Rocko's debut Def Jam album is certified gold, yet I cant find anything online verifying that.

Call me a hater, but I don't see Rocko selling 500k.

His CD was amateur at best!

Now That Summer Is Officially Over...Who Was The King Of The Summer Party Scene? Jermaine or Ludacris??

ludacris-jermaine-2008-09-22-300x300.jpg

Last week I heard that Summer will officially be over today, September 22, 2008 @ 11:44 AM. It's no secret that this summer has probably been one of the worst summers, if not THE worst summer, in Atlanta's history. Usually the A has some insane party's, however with the recording industry steadily on the decline, and our current economy being as f*cked up as it is, you can see why Atlanta was noticeably quiet this season. But music mogul, Jermaine Dupri as well as rapper turned actor, Ludacris threw their annual summer bashes. And I want to know who was the "King Of Summer"?

As many of you know, I attended both JD's "So So Def Weekend" and Luda's "Luda-Day Weekend" and have their respective coverages below.

Jermaine's Weekend Extravaganza [Click Here]

Luda's Weekend Celebration [Click Here]

Usually I offer up an opinion on most blogs, but since T.I. and his Grand Hustle family have snuck in their "TI Takeover Weekend" I'm going to hold off until next Monday before I render my take.

Jermaine Dupri, I Take Back Everything I Ever Said About Your Girl!

janet-jackson-2008-09-19-300x300.jpg

Dear Janet,

I take back everything I ever said bad about you! Yo, Jermaine Dupri's girl, Janet is one bad b*tch [and I mean that only in the best way]. Has everybody seen that video floating around of "Ms. Jackson if ya nasty"? The new video breaks down why that ch*ck is still the queen of this entertainment game. Think I'm lying? Watch the video below:

I don't know in the hell I could have EVER thought to myself that the mother to "Rhythm Nation" had fallen off??!?!

Janet just showed up every female entertainer who has performed this year.

Now I need for someone over at Def Jam to hook me up with either media passes to this or a ticket of my very own to soak all this in live.

I know I put out, the now proven bogus, rumor that JD was getting axed, but other than that I've been nothing, but good to you people [insert Color Purple scene here]

Please be a good sport and hook ya boy Gyant up. And If I even got some backstage access for something exclusive I wouldn't even be mad. LOL!

All I know is that it doesn't matter what anybody says about Jermaine Dupri. It doesn't matter if you got 2 billion dollars, if you got more hits than him, even if you think that just because you got Beyonce you're some how better than him. JD still wins, because he's got Janet "muthf*c*in" Jackson.

I got to go watch it again.

T.I. Takes A Leak....Knocks Expectations Out The Park!

paper-trail-2008-09-18-225x90.jpg

Last night Tip's new album Paper Trail leaked on the internet. I am actually surprised that it took this long, but alas it's out there and is probably being downloaded at lightening speed.

We all remember what happened the last time I put you all onto the location of the link, so I will not be doing that again, ever.

And I guess since me and Mr. Harris are cool it wouldn't be the best idea to even give you all hints like I usually do. SOHH Let's just say its out, and if you are computer savvy then I have every confidence that you'll find it.

However, after listening to Tips new album in it's entirety, I've got to give the man props, because the project is quite good! Wayne calls his himself the "greatest rapper alive", Jay-Z insists he's the "best rapper alive", but Clifford Harris, Jr. might actually be the best of the best as it relates to the south.

My favorite cut from the album is titled "Every Chance I Get". The Toomp produced track is classic TI with enough swagger and confidence in the lyrical content and delivery to stay on repeat in my ipod for at least two weeks.

It's clear that he took the frustration and stress from his life and focused it into the music. The 15 track project is packed with bonafied hits.

SOHH far this year, there hasn't been one hip-hop album that's been executed as properly as Paper Trail.

Though Lil' Wayne's album is presently dominating the Billboard charts, it's clear that The Carter III can't hold a flame to Tip's new album as far as production and delivery.

Paper Trail seems to also be echoing the embattled rappers current mantra of "piece and positivity". In the true essence of the words, Cliff has reunited with legendary beat maker Toomp on four tracks for this album. It's clear that they have settled their beefs between each other.

You won't find any rap beefs, or pot shots taken at anybody. I didn't hear that other Bankhead rapper's mentioned on any other song outside of "No Matter What".

T.I. seems to be on a whole other level in terms of his music delivery.

Anyone who know reads SOHH Atlanta understands that I am very crticial of today's hip-hop music. As a fan, I want to be surprised, inspired and down right excited to buy ones music. Alot of rappers haven't been able to pull that off as of late.

But thankfully for me T.I. isn't one of them!

Though I know a lot of people are going to be downloading the "King's" newest album illegally, hopefully you'll all will still support his music with your wallets on September 30th.

I mean, shouldn't good music be rewarded?

Update: TI "Swagger Like Us" Swagger Jacked?; Ne-Yo Shows Gyant Some Luv; Plus, Colby Plush Is Doing It Big At Ten Pin Every Thursday!!

tip-ap-300x300.jpg

SOHH why did I find out, late yesterday, that the superstar collaboration between Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and TI for "Swagger Like Us" will not be on Tips new album Paper Trail.

Weeks ago one track from the Tips newest album was leaked on the internet.

While nobody was really feeling the track, it was expected to go on the album. But when looking at a current tracklisting I've noticed that the song has mysteriously fallen from the list.

  1. No Matter What
  2. Been There Done That
  3. What Up, What's Haapnin'
  4. Swing Your Rag
  5. Live Yor Life Feat. Rhianna
  6. Propane
  7. Yeah Feat. Lil' Wayne
  8. Collect Call
  9. My Life Your Entertainment
  10. Beat Down
  11. On Top Of The World Feat. Kanye West and B.O.B.
  12. I'm Illy
  13. Bright Lights Feat. The Dream
  14. Out In The Cold Feat. Fall Out Boy
  15. Bed Bath & Beyond Feat. Usher
  16. It's All G
  17. 56 Bars (Intro)
  18. Whatever You Like
  19. Slide Show Feat. John Legend

What happened? I can't think of one solid reason as to why that track wouldn't be on his album.

I wasn't a strong fan to the song, but I still expected for it to grow on me.

Is there some bad blood between someone?

[/Update]

The homie, Pierrot Winter just put me on to one possible reason why TI didn't get "Swagger Like Us".

Here's what he's saying:

you wanna know why that track ain't on the T.I album? 'cause uncle Hova is keepin it for HIS own album. Yup that's right, I just heard from Universal (here in Switzerland) that it'll be on Jay Z's new album Blueprint III. Ain't that a b*tch! Just remember who gave you the 4 1 1. Now go tell ills**d and all the bloggers worldwide, tell'em I told y'all

If you here this anywhere else, know that SOHH Atlanta had it first!

Neyo Fans...

Yesterday I posted a blog on Ne-Yo and Nelly [Click Here To Read]. The two top tier entertainers both dropped albums yesterday, but I don't think anyone realized it.

Well the JD from Def Jam sent me over this promotional video last night. I don't like to post advertisements unless A] You're paying SOHH.com for the ad or B] We just cool like that.

But Ne-Yo and his people have been SOHH cool with me I figured what the hell!

And Speaking of People I'm Cool With.....

Bigboi_plushblue

Colby Plush of Plush Blue Entertainment is creating quite a buzz with his new Ten Pin Thursday's over in Atlantic Station.

I've been hearing the turnout these past couple of weeks have been off the chain.

I don't go out as much as I used to, but I will be up in the spot tomorrow to show one of the hardest working promoters in the city some SOHH.com luv.

Update: In Case You Didn't Know [And You SOHH Wouldn't Be Alone]!!

Brass_knuckles

I truly didn't want to be the a*sh*le twice in one day, but I forgot that "flopper" right here was dropping an album.

I was on my twitter today [for those of y'all who ain't on Twitter, you don't what you're missing], when Randy Roper posted a message saying that Nelly's new album dropped.

I immediately busted out laughing because I don't think anyone know that piece of information.

SOHH, I mean, I couldn't just sit here and not do my part to contributing to Nelly's first week sales.

So here's to Nelly and all his fans. And In case you didn't know his "highly awaited", multiple scheduled drops and recall dates, couldn't find a hit single, the first, second, or third time, finally deciding to drop it hoping the buzz does something, new album is in stores today!!

If you need some visuals to persuaded you, I got you!

Fellas:

Apple_bottoms

I hope that inspires you to cop Nelly's disc!

Ladies:

Steve_harvey_shirtless

I hope seeing what Nelly is gonna look like in 2024, also inspires you to cop his new disc!

[Update.....]!

Now I know its going to be a wrap for everybody because I just found out F*CKIN NE-YO DROPS AN ALBUM TODAY, TOO!!!!!!!!!!! What in Sam Hell is going on here????????

Neyo

I could've sworn that they pushed back this boy's project. I was going to do a "Top 5 Reasons Why Ne-Yo Was Going To Flop". But Ne-Yo and his people are truly good peoples. SOHH why rock the boat.

I got a bad feeling that next week it's gonna be bad news on billboard.

Gyant's "Two Cents" Continued - Check Out This Keri Hilson Song.....I Rest My Case!!

Kerihilson

For those who blew up my email earlier today calling me a pure hater needs to click below.

Eagerly anticipating that single that's going to catapulted Keri Hilson a song has popped up on the internet.

She's foolishly partnered up with pedophile on a damn sex song. Apparently the track was from a cut that was supposed to be used on an R.Kelly project.

I got nothing to say. What I wanted to say was already said [HERE]

Gyant's "Two Cents" - Why Doesn't Keri Hilson Just Give It Up?

Kerihilson

I was really trying to hold off on this post. I know that Polow Da Don is trying SOHH hard to make Zone 4 work, but what does it take for people to realize that some artists just aren't going make it on the stage?

First off I've got to give singer/songwriter, Keri Hilson her props. Chick be doing her thing with a pen and a pad. Her track record alone for writing hit songs is respectable. She's written music for Britney Spears, Toni Braxton, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Ciara, Usher, Teairra Mari, Danity Kane, the Pussycat Dolls, Avant, Ruben Studdard, B5, Diddy, Chingy, LeToya, Ludacris, Rich Boy, Jennifer Lopez, Shawn Desman, Kelly Rowland, Nicole Scherzinger, Lloyd Banks, Keke Palmer, Omarion, Tiffany Evans, and Timbaland.

But, how many times does one have to watch people attempt to come from behind the scenes to the front and fail miserably in doing SOHH?

Hell, I watched Johnta Austin myself and that went no where. Sean Garrett is trying to do it [bless his heart] but he's not doing it either.

Keri, who is signed to Interscope/Mosley/Zone 4, has been on her grind for years. And for at least the past two [could be more] years, Keri's been trying her hardest to let the whole world listen to her music. She wants to be that solo star. But there's just one problem - she's not a star!

Now look, I am not making my assessment off any hate, seriously! I've come to my conclusion off of my God given common sense. I've seen Keri out and about on numerous occasions. Ms. Hilson is one of the most nicest and engaging people I've possibly ever met. However, this business is not built on manners. It's built on results.

Keri Hilson's first single "Energy" off her new album In A Perfect World didn't connect with consumers and also hasn't gotten much radio play. And according to Soul Rebel on the SOHH Soul blog Keri's quickly moving onto to a second one.

Though I haven't listened to it yet, I still felt confident in my opinion that she just doesn't have it.

I know I don't have to tell anyone how brutal the music business can be. SOHH I can't understand why someone with such an extensive resume would willingly put themselves in this situation.

Out of all the videos I've seen [and trust me, before I wrote this I went to youtube and soaked up all that she had to give me] there wasn't one that stood out to me to give me the slightest inclination that she could really do this and be successful.

I remember watching Keri Hilson perform once at Polow Da Don's Zone 4 launch party. I remember how she tried to work the stage in some tight silver stretchy pants.

Her performance was on par with a high school talent show.

I mean let's be real; she's not a dancer. Her voice is OK, but it's not great. I know about 15 "Keri Hilsons" in real life.

There's no whisper of a thrill. Not a hint of a scandal. I mean hell, the worst anyone's been able to say about Keri are about her hammer toes.

Keri, to me, is the girl next door. We all grew up with a Keri Hilson. However, that doesn't translate into star power.

In "a perfect world"this could be a reality. In "a perfect world" some might be moved by her vocal ability. In "a perfect world" Keri could've been the next Beyonce selling out arenas. But in this world, homegirl girl is lacking that "it" quality that will solidify her status on the stage.

I think it would be wiser for chick to just focus on other avenues and leave the stage alone. Though she may love it, clearly the feelings are not mutual.

Again, I feel that I have to say that I have a lot of luv for Hilson to have made it this far in a male dominated industry. She definitely does her thing on paper and in the studio working with other artists.

But, for me, that's where it ends.

Plies Wants The Right To Let His "Pants Hang Low"! Is It Poppin' or Floppin' [Audio]!

Att8d530

You know, I really don't talk about Plies too often. Forget the fact that I think he's a thug wannabe, I'm just not moved by his music. But he just dropped a new song that's piggybacking off of the latest recent controversy of our nation, SOHH I thought I'd give him some shine.

The new song is titled "Pants Hang Low" off his newest album, "Da Realist". The track is written by Plies and B.Thomas. And is produced by Mannie Fresh.

I did a post last week on how certain state governments are trying to dictate what is, and isn't, acceptable in the debate over sagging your pants.

The song breaks down what wearing pants down low means to Plies, and I'm assuming to a lot of you. Check it out below through a stream [I know, no download today].

[Listen To Song Here]

Again, I do not sag my pants. But just because I don't, doesn't mean that I can't see that these types of laws are created to attack certain kinds of people. I find it to be a moral violation as well as a civil one.

Listen to the song and tell me what you feel.

Shout out to Moses Davis of Warner Music Group for the song!

Luda Teams Up With J.Hud, But Is He Doing Way Too Much With The Features? [Audio]

Written By SOHH Gyant

Luda

Ludacris has teamed up for yet another collabo. This time he's teaming up with J.Hud on her new album. But, is it me or is the Atlanta rapper doing way too many features?

Over the weekend I typed up a great post on Atlanta rap star, Ludacris. I was pondering if him being featured on SOHH many tracks was good for his career, or a possible over saturation in the game. But, as fate would have it, my notebook suddenly shut down, and it's just my luck that my post didn't save.

Never believing in the notion of doing work twice, I've decided to move on and just pose the question. Is Ludacris doing too much with the features?

So far this year he's worked with everyone from Jennifer Hudson, Lloyd, TI, Willy Northpole, Sean Garrett, Usher and many many more.

Could the features have a negative affect on his own solo projects? It's no surprise, to me, that his Gangsta Grillz mixtape "The Preview" didn't fair too well. While the mixtape was slightly popular, I don't think that it got the reception that DTP executives might have hoped for.

And now that he's dropped the official single to his newest album, Theater Of The Mind with Chris Brown and Sean Garrett, some could perceived his musical efforts as overkill.

The track titled "What Them Girls Like" which was leaked almost 6 weeks ago is getting a mild response on the internet. It's currently in the Top 50 on Billboards Top 100.

Maybe I'm just hatin, but I thought I would pose the question either way. Oh and in yet another feature, the sourthern representative has linked up with Academy member, Jennifer Hudson on a new song called "Pocket book" check it out below.

[Listen To Track Here]

I heard Ludaris shut it down at this years For Sisters Only. The V103 sponsored event was held over the weekend. I didn't go this year because I was in a lazy mood, but when I find some video and pictures from the event you know I will put you on.

SOHH Gyant Randomness - Are The Police Attacking Us...AGAIN! Plus, TI Drops New Video For "Whats Up, What's Happening"!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Saggypants20080721300x300

[Editor's Note: The views of this blog do not necessarily reflect those of SOHH.com]

Well they've went and done it. While everyone is still discussing the issues of sagging pants, Riviera Beach, Florida is elevating racial tensions by arresting people who show their boxers.

It looks like BET might have to move their "Spring Bling" to another location because the West Palm Beach police are trippin'. The SOHH news department and SOHH Atlanta have spoken about the ‘sag' issue that's threatening creative expression.

I for one have never sagged my pants. I tried it in high school, but I found the awkward walk and being forced to pull them up every other step too annoying to be cool. But just because I wasn't down with the sag, doesn't mean that I agree that the government stepping in is a good idea.

I find this new ordinance to be yet another attack on the hip-hop community. I also find it to be incredibly racist.

How much longer are we going to take these clear attacks against black people?

We need Barack Obama in office PRONTO, TINTO!!

But For Those Who Could Care Less About The Sag...............

Playaz Circle Is Back With New Music, But Are Y'all Trying To Take Off Your Sunglasses?? [Audio]

Written By SOHH Gyant

Pc

Playaz Circle is back, I think! After a successful run with their infectious hit "Duffle Bag Boy" the duo rap artists are moving on with a new song called "Sunglasses". Check it out below.

The DTP members have collaborated with Ludacris.

[Listen To Track Here]

The song is off the new mixtape with DJ Scream titled "Campaign", which you can download below.

What do you think about the music? Y'all already know I didn't like it.

I know the guys are struggling to find their place in the game. Their last hit song was taken over by Lil Wayne. They're not all that marketable or interesting, and they don't have a lot of buzz about them.

While I know it's not exactly all that easy in today's flaky ass music business, I feel that you got to bring that fiyah or take ya ass home and call it a day.

Plus, what's up with all the Luda features? No disrespect to anyone at Disturbing Tha Peace, but if you can't hold a song on your own without enlisting "The Boss" then you're ass'd out if you want solo success.

But I digress.

Ludacris Talking Retirement? Some Of You Rappers Need To Take His Lead. Just Ask LL Cool J!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Luda

Ludacris is making headlines this week amid talk that there could be a sudden "rap retirement" in his near future.

According to published reports Chris "Ludacris" Bridges is contemplating retiring from the microphone. It's no secret that the hip-hop industry is dying a slow death. What used to be an obscenely generous industry that kept everybody paid is slowly turning into an industry of death leaving most of the industry bruised, battered and BROKE!

Rappers aren't making the money they used to. Fans have almost stopped supporting rap artists all together with illegal downloading. And while Mr. Bridges is still in a top tier category, any viable businessman with common sense knows that rap just isn't what it used to be.

If the talk is true, I personally applaud the other King Of The South. A lot of times rappers are slow to get the memo that they can't rap forever. Just look at Lil' Wayne. What's he going to do with his life once the buying public just doesn't care anymore?

Most people almost never have a plan B prepared for when their career fades away. It's clear that people like LL Cool J and Busta Rhymes are going to have to have the mic snatched from their paws rather than walk away a legend. And that's never a good look.

But don't get it twisted; Ludacris is still at the top of his game.  But even his new single with Chris Brown isn't getting the response from previous Luda tracks. And his Gangsta Grillz mixtape "The Preview" didn't fair too well either.

Though it's obvious that his career is far from over, I think it's good that the rapper turned actor might be focusing on just acting in the near future.

Llcoolj20060425114035440

Someone tell LL Cool J to do the same. Did y'all see this??

Is it me or is LL Cool J losing his swagger with each passing day. The legendary MC and top selling recording artist has turned in his unique swagger for cheesy ass commercials and I'm calling for it to end.

Check out this new commercial of LL endorsing a new product from Old Spice.

Old Spice, are you kidding me?? Don't tell me that the homie has spent all that money and time on his body just to end up being a spokesman for an old man's cologne.

I'm not hater! I am all about getting that money, but after 24 years in the game I'd like to think that LL isn't strapped for cash like that.

First Sears and now this. What's next, a commercial for foot pads?

SOHH NOT Hip-Hop.

Honorable Mention - Glasses Malone Ain't Like You 'Haterz', Interview On SOHH.com Coming Soon!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Gm_2

There's a hot new artist coming out of the West coast that I just got to show some luv to. Glasses Malone is his name and he's already getting co-signed by Baby and Lil Wayne.

Glasses Malone, or G.Malone is from Los Angeles and he's signed to Cash Money Records. His new single "Haterz" featuring Lil Wayne and Baby is catching a lot of attention. And after almost three years of officially being in the industry [according to wikepedia], G is gearing up for the release of his debut album Beach Cruiser: The Story.  Check out his video:

One of my industry connects reached out to me late last week about the big homie.  As many of you know SOHH.com got rid of its west coast blog some time ago, and it seems Mr. Malone is not too happy that one of the leading hip-hop websites turned our backs on his region.

SOHH to make up for it not only am I showing the brutha some luv, but I am also interviewing the budding rap star soon.

Y'all already know me, I'm a real dude. I can't say that I am all that familiar with Glasses Malone. Anything outside of "Haterz" and I couldn't tell you anything about him. But I plan on changing that real soon.

Young Jeezy Makes Us Embrace The "Recession," Album Sales Impressive!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Jeezy_album

In a time when nobody, with the exception of Lil' Wayne, is selling records, Atanta's own, Young Jeezy killed it on Billboard this week. And even though I'm still bitter [I'm sure everybody knows why], I got to give the homie his props. Check below for all the details.

Hitsdailydouble.com is reporting the following:

Recession, what recession? As far as Young Jeezy's concerned, The Recession is the name of his chart-topping Def Jam/IDJ album.

The Atlanta-based rapper's third album, and first since 2006's The Inspiration, debuts at #1 on the HITS sales rundown this week, with a total of 253k. [Source]

While 253k is nothing to scoff at, I don't know why I thought it would be higher. There were reports going around that he did that in just one day. But you know how people like to inflate sh*t.

But anyway, it's a really good look for Jeezy's third solo CD. I haven't purchased the project, nor did I ever get that listening session I was promised, but what did you think?

Is the album worth it? Keep it real!

More Pictures From Ciara's Nude Vibe 'Spread'......

Written By SOHH Gyant

Ciara

As I’m sure you know by now Atlanta’s number one pop Princess got a bit risqué for the new Vibe magazine. People have been emailing me asking me why I haven’t talked about it. But to me I don’t see the problem.

It is my opinion that CiCi is stepping in the right direction, but utilizing her sexy in a very tasteful way.

Ciara1

Ciara2

This Georgia peach isn’t a little girl anymore. Ciara is reaching that unavoidable moment in life when you have to come out of your comfort zone, particularly when you’re a woman in the music business, and sex it up to get noticed. Beyonce’s done it, hell, even Da Brat’s done it.

Ciara is constantly stepping up her image game. She looked sexy as HELL at the VMA’s this year. Throw these pictures up in the mix and I don’t know about you, but I’m paying attention. And that’s exactly what it’s for.

Is Cici one step closer to posing for Playboy magazine some day? Who knows? But at least people can stop calling her a man because she’s clearly all women.

What's Up With The Lip Synching, T.I.?, They Say Hindsight is 20/20, Plus, Watch Some SOHH Gyant Bloopers [Video]!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Tiriri

I got an email from someone who accused the self-proclaimed "King Of The South" of lip synching at this year's MTV Video Awards.

They claimed that T.I. was behind on the track SOHH you could hear him and it sounded awful. Dubious, I decided to check out the video one more time to make sure.

I tried my best to watch the actual live show, but after watching them prop poor Britney Spears at an obvious attempt to win back her audience, I muted the TV and took in the award ceremony the quiet way.

But, after looking at the video one more time I'll be damned. He was right, kinda!

To me it looks like lil homie was rapping. It's just not clear to me as to why he was doing it? If you're rapping why would you need to lip synch anything?  Perhaps Rhianna was the cause.

I'm not sure if this is an actual big deal or not. Maybe rappers prefer the DAT tape [do they even call them that anymore] like singers do.

When I attended Jeezy's concert last week I didn't notice any lip synching.

But Let's Move On.....

Cliff is making headlines over a revealing tell all interview with Rolling Stone magazine. The embattled rapper confesses shocking details in that interview. A piece of it is below:

During rehearsals for the show in Atlanta, where he was scheduled to perform, the MC stopped in the parking lot of a local shopping center to pick up three unregistered machine guns and two silencers that his bodyguard had purchased for him a few days earlier.

"I had a feeling in the back of my mind that something wasn't right," T.I. says now. "They weren't talking right. But I thought I was above situations like that. I was on some 'Nah, that can't happen to me' shit." The gun dealers turned out to be agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. T.I.'s bodyguard had been arrested four days earlier and was cooperating with the police. "Ain't nothing like having the feds watch you," he says. "I'm safe." But in a deeper way, he says, the experience has helped him reconnect with his faith. "I was walking with guns," he says.

"This situation has taught me that it's better to walk with God and just have faith that his will supersedes any stupidity that could go on around you."[Source]

That's why I like T.I. because after its all said and done he's a man who can step up and admit to f*cking up. You kids better take to his story. Because if it can happen to him and it can for damn sure happen to you.

Youngjeezy

Y'all already know that I'm still pissed about what happened last week at Jeezy's concert.  And though my camera man got hemmed up and our footage was taken, I forgot that I did capture a limited amount of footage on my new flip camera. Check it out.

Rock City Kills It On BET's Rap City [Video]!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Rockcitysmall_2

You know one of the best things about my job is my ability to truly have an influence on hip-hop culture, events and artists. While some of you are still unreceptive to the notion that bloggers, particularly SOHH Gyant, has some juice on the internet, that doesnt change the fact that its happening. I can big up or eff up your whole day with a few simple keystrokes. However, I often times use the SOHH platform to put you on to new music and artists who I feel are worthy. I'm on such a musical high with Akon's Rock City that I just got to put you on to their BET "Rap City" performance. Them dudes killed it on the mic. Check it out below.

With SOHH much bullsh*t in the game I find it my duty to celebrate and inform you all about good artists that I fux with. First I put you all on to Asher Roth who is doing phenomenal [more on him later on in the week]. And now he's on almost every hip-hop blog out there. People fux with Asher the same way I know people are going to fux with Rock City.

The songwriting duo stopped by BET's "Rap City" Friday to show you all how they get down. Don't get it twisted; just because these guys write hit pop music for other artists doesn't take away from the fact that these nuccas are hip-hop enthusiasts. Check out their creative style below.

Rock City is embarking on a nationwide tour with BET and our hip-hop competitor. If you're still skeptical on what these boyz can deliver then why don't you get ya ass out and take in a show. [Check Tour Dates Here]

But I'm telling you now, if you're not trying to hop on the Rock City bandwagon then I suggest you stay home because once you see these fellas live it's gonna be a wrap.<./p>

SOHH Gyant Randomness - What Did You Think Of The MTV Awards?

Written By SOHH Gyant

Tiriri

Last night MTV's annual award show aired. And you already know that I want to know what you guys thought.

The idea that the cable network continues to dish out silver moon men for an array of videos is laughable to me seeing that they never play videos anymore. The once pioneering music station has, in my opinion, sold its musical soul for the reality TV machine. And it seems that many celebrities must have the same sentiments because year after year the star turnout seems to get smaller and smaller.

But I digress.

T.I., Rihanna, Lil' Wayne, LL Cool J, Lupe Fiasco, and bunch of other performers touched the many MTV stages this year. But who killed it? Did Wayne do his thing, or did Rihanna do it better? What did you think about Kanye West?

I think Kanye West could have finally gone to a place that some artists go who take themselves too seriously. I couldn't make out the song too well and it seemed like the Louis Vuitton Don was a little off with the beat. But maybe it was just me.

T.I. definitely did his thing the best he could. The beginning of the performance kind of drew me in, but once he hit the stage with RiRi I was over it. Call me a hater, but the bar has to have been lowered to a point of no return when "singers" like Rhianna are killing it in the game. And I'm just keeping it real.

Lil' Wayne touched down on the MTV stage this year. And it's no surprise that his performance wasn't very original. Remember when stars back in the day used to blow you away with their live performances? Well those times are long gone.

Truth be told, this year I spent most of my time on the phone, cleaning my room and packing up clothes rather than sitting still and taking in the entire award show. For some reason I just couldn't get into it.

Written By SOHH Gyant

I20300

Well you known Atlanta artist I-20 is back on the scene with some new music. He and Ludacris have teamed up on a new song. And you know I got it for you below to check out.

I don't have a lot of details about the song, but if I had to assume I'd say this is the first single off a new album Blood In The Water that's dropping soon. But I do know that they shot a video earlier this week in Atlanta.

I was invited to go, however I had a conflict in the schedule that couldn't be avoided.

Have a listen to I-20's "Really Like Her" featuring Ludacris and Rocko.

The track was produced by critically acclaimed producer Street Symphony. Enjoy!

Barack Obama Has Inspired Jermaine Dupri, Plus Jumps On The "Swagger Like Us Beat"!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Jdbw

With every passing day we are coming closer and closer to possibly watching the first African American in history to enter the oval office to run this country. And it seems like every influential figure in hip-hop and beyoncd is doing everything they can to ensure it happens. T I's got his "Respect My Vote" campaign. Diddy continues to consistently create his popular [and often times annoying] youtube videos encouraging all to go cast their vote. And now even Jermaine Dupri is getting in on the action.

The music mogul is taking time out of his busy schedule of running a new label, contributing his talents to his current one [Def Jam] and  producing new records for artists, to do some blogging.

Jermaine return to his Huffington Post blog after a busy summer to share with you all the importance of voting and why he's going with Barack Obama. The hit maker is also holding back no punches over his disappointment at some keynote members of black media.

Here's a little of what he had to say:

I've read and heard all the opinions. Plenty of people have had something to say about this. So why do I feel the need to weigh in now? I've always been the guy who found politics boring, and I haven't trusted anyone in Washington to do anything for me for a long while. It had no relevance to me, and I never really got what all the hype about Obama was about. But now I get it. The guy won me over. He touched me in a way no politician ever has before. He hit all the right notes and he hit 'em hard. I was the undecided voter Obama needed to reach with his words, and now he has my full attention.

What resonated with me the most was when he said: "It's not because John McCain doesn't care. It's because John McCain doesn't get it."

That to me sums up what's been the problem with the old way of doing this on all fronts. The old guard ain't bad necessarily. It's just that they don't understand that there's a new reality, and a new way of doing things that's a better fit for our times. When these guys fight change they stand in the way of progress and push back the energy and drive of the young. It hurts their future, and everybody else's. But Obama's words gave me an energy I haven't felt since I got started in the music business, when I believed anything was possible. That's a powerful thing. [Full Story]

But for those of you who could honestly give a sh*t about politics, and who could blame you, JD's hopped on the TI beat for "Swagger Like Us". It seems that the unofficial Mayor of Atlanta didn't appreciate being left off the remix.

So what does any music mogul do when they've got unlimited recording resources at their disposal? They record their own version. Have a listen.

[Listen To Track Here]

I'm really trying to get back Jermaine's good side right now, so I'm going to just plead the 5th on this one. But clearly you can see why nobody called up JD for this particular remix.

Jeezy's Security Acts Up At Concert, Takes All Of SOHH.com's Footage!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Jeezy_album

Young Jeezy finally stopped through Atlanta last night to promote his new album The Recession at the legendary Tabernacle. And talk about a bad experience. Pull up a chair, this is gonna take a minute.

As you know I've been a big supporter of Jeezy, CTE and his new album all this year. SOHH when I was told about the unofficial "Jeezy Day" a couple of days ago that consisted of an in store appearance, and a concert, followed by the official album release party at Satan's nightspot [Velvet Room], I just knew that I was going to be able to bring you all some exclusive material. But sadly, that didn't happen.

After numerous requests to try and get backstage to obtain photo's of Irv Gotti, Jeezy and whomever else was in the building I just couldn't get the luv to make it happen. But as if my failure to obtain an all access pass to the event wasn't bad enough, I had to deal with another unfortunate incident that involved Young Jeezy's security.

Media was allowed in the pit area [front center of the stage] for the first 20 minutes of the performance to collect footage. After that no more footage could be obtained. SOHH once the 20 minutes had passed I started to head out to go home, when I realized my cameraman [Uncle Paulie] was nowhere in sight. After searching for him I figured that he had already left the venue and was waiting for me outside. But he wasn't.

Apparently Paulie got snatched up by Jeezy's security and was dragged to the back of the stage behind the curtain area where they demanded that he hand over his footage that was collected of the show. That's right y'all, a member of the media, and my entourage was accosted and assaulted for doing his job.  And that to me is unacceptable...PERIOD!

Look, at the end of the day I'm no celebrity! Trust me I know this. However, I do have a voice - and a powerful one at that. So it never ceases to amaze me at how artists expect for me to keep things positive and respectful on this blog, yet they sometimes don't offer me the same courtesy at their events or parties.

Let's be crystal clear on one thing artists, record executives and promoters; if we are as 'cool' as you claim to be then it's only natural that I'd expect you to look out for me and whomever is in my company when I'm at your event -especially if I'm an invited media outlet.

Don't get it twisted, I am not some wet behind the ears journalist who will take whatever you give me. I've pounded the pavement for almost 5 years in Atlanta. I've covered everything and I have probably covered it twice. I've turned blind eyes on your scandals [sometimes] and sometimes I even bite my tongue or put down my keyboard when all your business gets spilled out on Front Street.

I'm no rookie and I expect to be treated accordingly. Putting it plainly, I want/demand my respect!

So I'm sorry to SOHH.com's millions of readers for not being able to bring you anything Jeezy. Perhaps Mr. Jenkins was just pulling a nucca's leg when he personally pulled me aside and expressed to me that I could be down with anything CTE back in June. I mean hell; I never did get a chance to listen to the album even after numerous requests.

I'm sure a lot of you may not get my rant and I honestly don't give a sh*t. This is a respect thing. If you DON'T stand for something, you WILL fall for anything.

P.S. If such notable nobodys like Richy Rich and newly signed recording artist who don't have one single record out can get full access, surely someone can hook me up SOHH that I can do my job. Or do people still think that blogging is a hobby?

Monica Isn't Happy With A Brutha, Plus, Game and Bow Wow Officially Battle It Out Courtesy Of The Konsole Kingz [SMH]!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Monicarock

Last night I attended a V103 event that was showcasing good music. Robin Thicke and Monica were among other notable talents from the A. But it's what was happening back stage that makes for this blog post.

Dsc03412_2

Whenever I go out to an event someone always approaches me commenting on something I've said here on SOHH Atlanta. When I first started in this game I would get cussed out, aggressively approached, or all out avoided. However, over the years I think I've gained a healthy respect from everyone [of importance] in the game that understands the nature of the blogging beast.

Monica, however, didn't seem to understand my sentiments last night when she held nothing back about her disapproval over a post I did on her and her successfully rated reality program a few weeks back. For those of you who may have missed it. I basically critiqued the show from my perspective. I called out some of the things that I didn't like [I'll admit I was being more catty then sincere], and I also gave my opinion on her new song "Still Standing".

Monica playfully gave me a hard time about the post. I have met the songstress on a few occasions, but never knew she even knew who I was, but you know blogs go, they can say positive things about people and the post goes nowhere, but say something about someone and it ends up on mediatakeout.com.

How I handle a post normally I typically shred the artist apart in the begining and then clean it up in the end. Most people don't catch it, but it seems that most people aren't Monica  because she most definitely called me out on it.

Now it is my belief that the younger Monica would've cussed me out something wicked leaving me shaking in the corner. However, it seems the older Monica is at true peace with herself and her life. And she ain't letting none of steal her joy.

Call me a sucker for a beautiful woman, but I told her that I would publicly apologize on the site today. SOHH here's to you Mrs. Rocko. My badd! It's just a blog. When I hit publish, it's gone from my mind.

That still doesnt mean that you didn't put your foot in that performance though. For those of you who missed it I got it below.

Here's more pics from the event.

But Let's Move On..........

Gamebow

It looks like nobody could talk Mr. Lamborghini Moss, and Mr. LAX out of drawing anymore unnecessary attention to themselves as Konsole Kingz has decided to sponsor their silly Madden competition. According to Maurice Garland over at The Rezidue the two are both going to Konsole it up for an "alleged good cause".

I know nobody asked me my two cents, but to bet all this money [100k] on a video game is both stupid and insensitive to a lot of their fans who are all struggling to make it through this shaky ass economy.

You don't see Justin Timberlake battling The Jonas Brothers for that kind of cash do you? Only my people toss money around like there's no tomorrow. Which is why most of us end up broke and working until we're dead because we refuse to learn how to save our money for a rainy day.

They claim that this event will be held in a secret location, but I bet you it will be here in the ATL. I haven't received an invite, however if I do I'm going to be the first one asking "where's the money going". And since I know Bow Wow and his peeps as well as the guys over at Konsole Kingz read SOHH Atlanta often, I probably won't be getting invited.

God forbid they let my social consciousness get in the way of their video game. Sometimes all I can do is just shake my head and move on.

Yo I like this idea. I like how they letting you in and is giving the people a well rounded idea of what its like to be up in the studio.

And Speaking Of Sharing.........

I can't remember if I told you all about a lot of Tip's tracks from his new album have been leaking all across of the internet. But the newest leak is a collaboration between T.I. and Usher. Luda Day Weekend Rundown,[Uptown Lounge] The Good, The Bad, The Ugly! Plus, Which Washed Up R&B Has Been Grabbed Gyant's Camera?

Written By SOHH Gyant

Luda

Well, the holiday weekend is over! And thanks to Jamal Coleman, Chaka Zulu, Taiye Samuel [AKA the Wild Afrikan] and Dean Jackson I am able to give you all a rundown of one of the hottest parties that took place at Uptown Lounge Saturday night. Wesley Snipes, Gabrielle Union, D. Woods, Michael Jordon, Terrence J, Ludacris and a host of other celebrities shut Atlanta down Saturday. Check out the coverage below.

Ludacris held his third Annual Luda Day weekend this past Holiday weekend. And though I didn't get the chance to attend a lot of the events, I still managed to get the exclusive ones that had the most star power. I will be the first to admit that I laid pretty low this holiday. But out of all the events I was personally invited to attend, I opted to just pick Saturday night to come out.

As usual Uptown Lounge was the spot to be at. The line wrapped around the building as groupies and fans alike all vied to gain entrance to the exclusive affair. But like usual, the Atlanta club goers still just aren't used to celebrities. SOHH instead of dancing to the skills of DJ Trauma and enjoying the atmosphere peeps were lurking around the VIP area blocking me from doing my job all to catch a glimpse of their most favorite stars.

I have to seriously question the state of some of the fans mentalities that would opt to stand in line for upwards of an hour, pay ridiculous entrance fee's just to stand around with their camera phone in hopes of snapping a photo of some celebrity who doesn't even know they exist.

I don't even like doing it and I get paid to do so.  However, pushing that entire situation aside, I had a good time. SOHH here's a rundown of the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Good: The laid back atmosphere.  It's no secret that a lot of industry people in this damn city don't know what the hell they are doing. I usually have the most difficult times getting into a party even though I am an invited guest. But that's not the case with Jamal and them. I got in pretty quickly and the vibe of the party was just right both on the celebrity and non celebrity side. Aside from the VIP lurkers everybody was just there to have a good time. And that's never a bad thing.

Dsc03393

The Bad: Every celebrity that I ran into was cool as all hell. Except for a washed up has been who decided to snatch my camera when I tried to take a picture of him. I got shots with everyone from Wesley Snipes to Ludacris, but this "celebrity" tried to act all Hollywood.

I don't know why he took such an aggressive position when I tried to take my shot. It isn't like his stint on "Dancing With The Stars" catapulted him anymore into the spotlight anymore then before. He needs to thank Ne-Yo for reviving his career a few years back and should've been happy that someone even cared to snap a picture of him, period.

Trust me, it will never happen again. He's SOHH lame his name isn't even worth mentioning.

The Ugly: Nothing ugly at all. I mean I could go in on Wesley Snipes a little, but this is a hip-hop site y'all don't care.

Here's some more photo's for you below.

Dsc03375

D. Woods chillin with DTP before she had to go and perform for the kidz at Traxx.

Dsc03376

Kanye West/Lil Wayne manager, Gee Roberson and Jamal Coleman. Don't ask me what they're looking at.

Dsc03398

Ludacris, Chaka Zulu and Guest

Dsc03397

Ne-Yo's manager and Compound Entertainment head Tango

Dsc03399

Wesley Snipes, [I Know], and Chaka Zulu

Dsc033781

Hate all y'all want, but it's Gyant and Gabrielle Union.

While I missed a lot of the other Luda Day events, Necole Bitchie, Freddyo and Prince Williams didn't. Check out more pictures [here], [here], and [here]

Check back later this week for Gyant's pick for who's the King of The Summer.

Talk to y'all lata,
