Yjhat

Just last week I thought to myself "where the hell is Yung Joc". The Block Entertainment representative has been MIA over the last few months. Other than his involvement with his new rap group Hot Stylz who's under contract with Jive records and that pesky lawsuit we haven't really heard much about the Atlanta rapper. And then I suddenly remembered that his assistant, Ernest Flores sent me over a bunch of tracks that I forgot to share with y'all.

Jasiel's apparently working on a new album tentatively titled Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood, but I can't help but wonder if disappearing all together is a good idea in today's "here today, gone today" music industry.

I called Joc up last night inquiring about his new project. He told me that it was originally planned to be released in November, but he wants to go about promoting his album a little different than his previous projects. He assured me that a mixtape is on the way, though. SOHH be on the look out for it.

I'm sure that everyone has already heard about the passing of  Ike Dirty's father Isaac Hayes, over the weekend. We here at SOHH.com as well as most of the world are reeling from the devastating news. But Ike's publicist Dee Dee Cocheta has released a public statement from the ATL producer. Check it out.

"I spoke to my father just recently about working on his album, and he was excited as though this were his first project.   I want people to remember my father for the creative, soulful, inspirational force that he was to music and African American people. He was legendary and shared his genius with the world. I also want to thank all of my peers and music industry colleagues who have reached out to express their love and prayers.

I'm sad, I'm angry, I'm happy all at once right now. I have so many memories of being my father's son. Little things that make all the difference. Things that help me maintain right now. I can't be too sad though. My father did great, great things as a Musician, Humanitarian, a Father and a Black man. I'm so happy he touched and inspired so many people in a positive way. I am more proud of my father than anyone could know."

Ike is following in the footsteps of his father as a music producer who has worked with other chart-toppers like Redman, Keith Murray, Chamillionare, KeKe Palmer, Too Short, Blaque, Ruff Ryders, Black Coffey and Raz-B to name a few. Ike reached his first milestone in achieving a top hit single with Lil' Scrappy - Money in the Bank and recently produced The Ying Yang Twin's single, Drop.

Talk to y'all lata,

Isaac Hayes personified "cool" and for him, it just seemed natural.
