Every once in a while I get the opportunity to witness truly amazing talents. The chance doesn't come around too often, but when it does I recognize it and embrace it. While nobody can deny that hip-hop is dying a slow death, these classically trained violinists, known as simply, Black Violin are thriving. In a time where everybody is doing the same damn thing these guys are showing everyone that there is still room left for innovation in the genre of hip-hop.
Fresh off a successful tour abroad, the hip-hop duo have hit the road on a national tour. Kev Marcus and Wil B are two classically trained musicians who have infused their love of rap music while carving out their own lane in music history in the process.
After being crowned the Apollo ‘Legends' Award back in 2005 that catapulted them to international fame, these kats are performing to sold out crowds around the world.
Yesterday I got the opportunity to chop it up with the fellas as they rolled through the ATL to perform at Tech High School on Memorial Drive. I was invited to sit in on their private sound check. And I was also allowed to give you all a bird's eye view of what true talent is.
In the video clip above you'll see the Black Violins rendition of Young Jeezy's "Put On", Usher's "In This Club", TI's "Swing Your Rag" and a bit of Lil Wayne's "Amilli" and "Lollipop".
Clearly these guys are the truth, and have gained a new fan in Gyant. But don't think the guys are only about hip-hop covers because you'd seriously be underplaying their abilities. They are both also accomplished producers and have their own album that's filled with original material currently in stores and on itunes.

Peace to the real musicians out there, like myself...
What do I play, you ask?
Women. Strictly women.

Herbz, shut your bitch ass up. Stop actin' hard like you're the shit. Can't believe I'm saying this, but Gayant is less corny than your white ass.
While nobody can deny that hip-hop is dying a slow death
yeah, because fags like you always showcase the bullshit and continually focus on the negative. Hip-hop will never die because it's a culture that's in us - the people. The music industry as a whole is down - not just hip-hop. Get it right chump. Your gay ass needs to be bloggin' about Donna Summers or whatever you queens listen to.
