The weekend has come to close which means Jermaine Dupri's So So Def weekend has officially come to a close. JD allowed me unprecedented access to all his events over the weekend to bring all of the SOHH readers a full recap. You know I got the good, the bad, and of course the ugly. Check it out below.
What Was Good:
Thursday night Jermaine and his crew kicked things off at Bowling 300 for the ultimate celebrity bowling match. Nelly, Sammy, Bow Wow, Ne-Yo, Dru Hill, Funkmaster Flex, Princess from Crime Mob, Polow Da Don, Goodie Mob and a host of others all came out to show off their bowling game. I myself was perched in a corner getting my Patron on, but I still managed to score some photos.
The event was chilled everyone got along, however I did have an unfortunate run in with Nelly over those stripper photos that were published last week on this blog. I heard that Nelly was extremely angry that the pictures were sent out and my boy Freddyo was ultimately fired from covering any of events from the weekend as a result. I tried my best to go to bat for one of Atlantaâ??s most well known paparazzi members, but Nelly simply wasnâ??t having it.
The minute Freddyo came out my mouth Nelly cut me down and stormed off. I couldâ??ve been more persistent; however Iâ??ve learned to stay out of grown folks business.
So So Def Celebrity Basketball Gameâ?¦.
What Was Bad:
I think this picture says it all. Dreamz ATL is where all the drama went down. I hear that Alex Gideon is part owner or is some how affiliated with Dreamz and yâ??all know I donâ??t fux with anything AG SOHH I opted out of showing up. Some say it was a shootout, but nobody I spoke to actually heard anything they were just responding to the melee.
I personally don't believe that there was any gunfire, but hell when mainstream media comes a calling you do what you got to do right?
What Was Ugly:
See I distribute the hate evenly. I will even clown myself. I hated to wear all white. My ass is too big to not have a dark color in their somewhere. But what JD and Big Bob says goes SOHH it is what it is!
Nah, but I really canâ??t hate on anything from the weekend. Everything was kinda dope, actually. The only thing that I found outrageously lame about the weekend speaks more to everyday people rather then the celebrities.
What I want to know is why do yâ??all pay SOHH much money to get in clubs just to stand around with your camera phones, taking pictures when you should be dancing and picking up ya jumpoff for the night?
Now thatâ??s definitely an Atlanta thing. I donâ??t want to go into details, but for those of yâ??all who attended the white party at the Woodruff Arts Center you know what Iâ??m talking about.
All in all JD put his foot into this yearâ??s event. This was Atlantaâ??s first major party all summer. Next up is Ludacrisâ??s â??Luda Weekendâ? which kicks off Labor Day Weekend. Letâ??s see what they going to do.
Shoutout to Jeramine Dupri, Big Bob, Dorma Davis & W-W Pr for all your help in letting me fully cover the festivities.
Talk to yâ??all lata,

SOHH what was the purpose of this event? just summer fun? no social awareness component...uh we do have a brotha running for president and atl is supposed to be the "black mecca" we gotta grow up and elevate ourselves and start "partying with a purpose" and that way the chances of drama goes waaaay down.
SOHH how's that...
Gyant. I won't let into you full swing. I will leave that for the children. lol The outfit was fine, but the sunglasses make you look like T-Pain's country cousin from Mississippi. You were trying too hard - and you failed lol. Anywho...
I agree with "teach one" these events seem even more trivial and idiotic given the two year deep recession that the feds are covering up and the rate at which we are killing one another in poor communities.
Perhaps the ATL Mecca can regain its OLD reputation from the mid 1900s. You know the one for building, molding and sharing great minds.
Celebrities = Clowns
Entertainment Industry = Circus
RIP Atlanta.
Gyant you might want to read the news. A security guard was treated for a gunshot wound. He was just grazed, but clearly a shot was fired. I agree with The Sponsor. Atlanta's celeb scene has become an embarrassment. Although the celeb crowd there is aging they still seem to live for partying. They are making fools of themselves at this point. We have some pretty big fish to fry right about now and all these people can think of is flossing.
I had to come back and comment again. I see there are others who want to see more than partying from our entertainers. I'm not putting our celebs down but I do want more from them. JD about what 40 now? I saw dude at the very first hip hop summit meeting in NYC when the organization was formed back in '01, and he was right there listening to Minister Farrakhan's word's as was Diddy, LL, and others..
I'll never forget what the Minister said to the rappers.. "1 of your songs can do more than a thousand of my speeches"....smh
It seems like hip hop isn't growing up fast enough. ATL couldn't wait to get their "swag" I guess cuz in the '90's JD NEVER uttered his hometown.
Gyant, you my dawg and all, but I know that ain't a mu'fuckin scarf you got in ATL's hot summer heat. N*gga is you crazy!!! ROFLMAO.
